Not only does my little girl dig, she rips the roots out of the ground, the ivy off the wall, and basically anything that gets in the way of her quarry. One time she chased a squirrel up a tree, tried to climb the tree, barked in frustration although it was really more of a shriek and finally bit the tree. I laughed so hard and I had to tell her "Good girl! Let's go get another one!" She was angry with that squirrel!
Adorable!!! My cairn terrier puppy is just as silly! Guess is in their genes, no matter what they do (even if bad) they look cute and funny doing it, and you just cant resist.
@Mr859PETER That's why they are called Cairn Terriers the were bred to dig out Rats!!!! from the Stone Cairns on the western Isles of Scotland.. [Terrier comes from a middle French Terrier... and latin Terra... meaning earth/ to Dig]
@malachy1847 : FREAKING A!!!!! You took the words right out of my mouth!! I have a Cairn Terrier so I would know! She does that same thing it's nothing unusale you'll see them doing this ALL the time people (mine does!) It's the behaver that comes naturly to them. The terra in terrier means earth/ ground/ dirt/ dig. So like many other terriers they love to dig anywhere even if it's not the ground. Lol as you might have guessed I know lots about animals. (dogs-horses) :)
Mine is like that

haha! My Cairn does this exact same thing on my comforter and my old recliner. He really gets into it.

lol, our Cairn loves to dig on stuff too, mainly the couch. Thought she does it less as she's gotten older.
