  • Hey! Thanks for the vid. helped alot

i wish i could donate but im 13. But this vid was worth a buck

  • thanks for the video ^^

    and what if it's like -4 - -14? O.o

    XP

  • @melilycui its 10

  • I came up with another method too, other than the numberline. It uses a bendable numberline, essentially letting students use absolute value. Youcan check out the video for my tool (The ZeroSum ruler) if yuo click my name. I'll also try to post a video response.

it makes me sick that kids are taught one way- with the rigid number line- to add positives to negatives. It completely goes against the way we'd do the math in our heads!

  • omg this is so cool . i have the state test coming up soon i will be stalking and watching these videos 24/7

  • what if it 2-3*-5+4+ what

  • The best video so Far, Rck on dude, you just help one fellow,

  • thnx that helped me alot of but 1 more question pretend the question is -16 - 7 if htey switch are they the same answer

  • thank you very much .

very well explained . i had huge problem with negative number but with ur lovely video i sloved for ever .

thank you and pls upload more video .

    all the best

  • what if its like this +7- -3

  • turn the double negative into just one sign. - - becomes a positive so the new problem is +7+3 = +10.

If there is ever 2 signs right next to each other, change them into one:

    - - becomes +

    + - becomes -

    - + becomes -

    + + becomes +

  • ok, I looked at the whole video , i jumped to conclusions. sorry, and thanks!!!

  • thank you i got caught cheating on a test

  • Oh no, don't cheat! Now you won't have to...right?

  • What if you dont have time to do number lines?? is there a quicker way??

  • Thank You!!!!

  • than you for the video .......... might have saved my college education

  • hi. what if you have addition and subtraction in the same problem..say with 3 intergers like: -2 + 7 - 8 = ? What is the rule for solving this?

  • Follow your order of operations (PEMDAS). When you have two operations that can happen at the same time, do them in order from left to right.

So first do -2 + 7 which is +5. Now take that answer and do +5 -8 which is -3.

    Hope that helps.
