@sentosaheaven I personally wouldn't incorporate hot stones on patients with high blood pressure. The best is to start hands-on from toes and then to work on lower extremities est. would recommend to read my article on subject. Can be found on my website in the button of the screen.
Boris, I watch your videos a lot and even do some of your techniques on some of my friends just cause I enjoy massaging and making people feel good, but the yellow Bracelet on your wrist means what? John
Hi Boris: I am about to take my finals to become a massage therapist and found your videos, which are wonderful. Can you share any tips for a new massage therapist as I feel like I am needing some help in massaging back/shoulder areas... can you share any resources with me that may help? I appreciate any feedback you can give :)
is a huge deal of pleasure and support to receive comment like yours. Thank you very much. During 37 years of clinical/academical experience I have acquired some body of knowledge in medical and sports massage. This occupation is a passion of my life and as any human being I am trying to leave some legacy by sharing my knowledge. In live seminars I am reaching hundreds of people but by instructional DVDs thousands. God willing I will leave some legacy.
I deleted my comment. I don't like to put bad karma out there. I'm not discounting Medical Massage and the addition of hot stone. It's just the basic difference of Medical massage and Therapeutic Massage is such that you have to convert most spa goers to it. Like I said, it's just different not a bad thing. I shouldn't have said disappointing. I knew that was the wrong word to use with you. I won't comment anymore.
Dear stacy1981 I can feel that your intentions was good therefore you shouldn't be worry about bad karma. both general public as well professionals possibly can learn from our discussion. Example your last comment is a good topic to discuss. In my opinion medical or therapeutic massage stands for the same: providing therapy by means of massage. I am against compromise on feels good only.
The concept of medical massage was proposed by Prof. Sherback and did not include hot stones protocols.evidently incorporation of stones into the original protocols of medical massage offering additional healing stimulations. Medical massage is about results such as less pain, more range of motion, elimination of anxieties, headaches est. Being an a mineral stone incorporation contributing to this results therefore do not disappointing clients. Will continue in next post.
stacy1981 My feeling you are young practitioner therefore my advice not to rush to conclusions but to try to figure out details such as a) this short video fragment is from more than two hours DVD b) to listen careful togeneral message about mechanism of massage/ physiological effect of massage in general and benefits of incorporating hot stone in to protocol.
By the way 19 years ago I was the first one who introduced American practitioners to the term medical massage.
Having not read any of the other comments below, let me just ask the question: how did we get to a discussion on the invention and implementation of paragraphs in modern language when the video is about a guy getting a therapeutic massage?
I'm not judging, I'm just genuinely curious... Does anyone else wonder how we got so far off topic, or is it just me? It's a feeling I get a lot, lately.
As you know, paragraphs were an ancient practice within written communication where different sets of ideas were separated with blank space. Thanks to modern technology we can completely abandon outdated techniques like paragraphs as well as sentences, capitalization, punctuation and spelling. Although difficult to read, this development coincides with the increase in people having so little worthwhile to say. However, paragraphs are currently enjoying a "retro" resurgence in popularity.
Well that's good, at least you can read, now you just have to work on the writing part. Of course your highly valuable time would probably better be spent throwing things at cars and prank calling suicide hotlines.
So you have different standards of spelling based on specific websites? You spell it "writes" on all other sites, but YouTube is a special exception where it's spelled "wrightes"? Very interesting. But it isn't so much about spelling as it is your original comment which has nothing whatsoever to do with this video. I don't understand why you would make a public confession that somehow a 500 character or less comment is too much for you to handle. But it does makes more sense to me now.

Actually, there isn't anything weird about your question and since recently you can do quite a bit about massaging yourself. That's because Boris self massage DVDs are now available for general public. Please see the clips on sports injuries self treatment in this channel or carefully read annotations in this video.
No doubt that different kinds of stones carry different energy potential. I'm pretty certain that for purposes of stimulation by hot stones massage river stones as well others kinds are good enough. I mean all of them minerals and carry potential to release long waves of heat. Best wishes.
I am a Massage Therapist and I really enjoy working with hot stones. The darker the stone the longer it will keep the heat. My stones have all come from the ocean, however you can usually find stones on ebay or somewhere on the internet. I work mostly with lotions more than oils, because I specialize in deep tissue. However for Stone therapy I find that using Grapseed oil, or any oil in particular helps glide the stone easier than lotions or gels.
Im massage therapist and I consider my self a good therapist :-) but hot stones its not my thing, I just cant keep the stones at right temperature ... my question is when you massage you use one stone then you replace it with another if gets cold before you done? And do you place the stones at same time while you done massaging and how long you keep them on? When i do full body massage stones i place on the back they get cold before im done with the legs.
Just not to repeat myself I'll refer you to my Kuginame reply. to keep stones constantly hot you just can added boiling water or you can purchase hydracollider . in my opinion you shouldn't be concern that stones on back getting cold before you done with legs. they not so cold and still active minerals . in any case to use stones like static hot application only is not effective enough. you have to incorporate hot stone in soft tissue mobilization. Best wishes
Dear Kuginame. you can heat the stones in any container using boiling water. usually 5 to 7 minutes enough for stones to generate heat. use a spoon to take stones out of container. careful touch with your hand. if temperature are tolerant you will perform stone massage. if stone will be to hot, for 1 minute or less hold it under cold water. on DVD# 11 during 2 hours I explaine and demonstrate how to perform stone massage as well how to prepare stones for massage.
Dear crizzo06. I think you can use baby oil but not to use any oils for lubrication in cases of pre physical activities( playing sports, to perform some physical work ets) and of course in cases of allergy reaction. Best wishes Boris
Dear avaloni9. good luck with Holistic studies. you welcome to visit my website where you'll find a lot of my articles related to holistic approach. Best wishes. Boris
You shouldn't worry to received massage therapy. as barbedwirebat111 kindly stated: in case of hairy back we using bigger amount of lubricants. Best regards. Boris
As a massage therapist, I keep various oils and lotions and creams on hand. They have different viscosities, which are used for a variety of reasons...deep tissue, people who have hairy areas. The heavier the viscosity, it helps to massage for a hairier person. Also, there are allergies to consider and so I always ask each client if they have any allergies to fruits, nuts, oils, essential oils, scents, etc. I would normally use light olive oil for a client with body hair or deep tissue cream.
I've always had a passing interest in massage, so I decided to watch some massage videos to give me a slight insight into it. You're the best i've seen on Youtube after watching dozens of massage videos.
Not only are the videos relaxing (you have a relaxing voice suited to this line or work) but i've attempted a few things i've seen on here on myself, and they really do seem to work. I've learnt something that benefits me, so thank you very much for that =)
I am very happy that my video clips somehow contributed to your decision. I hope that it would be helpful to many others as well. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Best wishes

Is there an easy house hold way to heat the stones? and what temp. should they be?
Thank you
Kuginame 3 years ago
Dear Kuginame. you can heat the stones in any container using boiling water. usually 5 to 7 minutes enough for stones to generate heat. use a spoon to take stones out of container. careful touch with your hand. if temperature are tolerant you will perform stone massage. if stone will be to hot, for 1 minute or less hold it under cold water. on DVD# 11 during 2 hours I explaine and demonstrate how to perform stone massage as well how to prepare stones for massage.
Best wishes.Boris

would baby oil work ?
crizzo06 3 years ago
Dear crizzo06. I think you can use baby oil but not to use any oils for lubrication in cases of pre physical activities( playing sports, to perform some physical work ets) and of course in cases of allergy reaction. Best wishes Boris

alternatively you might try a Bodywork Therapy like shiatsu which can be applied through light clothing.
My website will be up and running soon and I hope to put some videos on here in the near future.

I understood "that will cause the membrane of the neuron to depolarise". Do you understand that statement? Now who's stupid?
Phaedraphile 4 years ago 5
Gee I didn't know hot stones had to do with neuroscience. Now who's the stupid one?
PinchePeruana 3 years ago
Not knowing a fact has nothing to do with stupidity. On the other hand, we're happy you've learned something new.

Thank you.
I enjoyed this video. I have not previously used stones as I viewed them as too gimmicky. Now I may incorporate them.

Dear mamassage.
I am very happy that my video clips somehow contributed to your decision. I hope that it would be helpful to many others as well. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Best regards.
