  • WWI must have been hell. What a senseless waste of human life.

  • 15 people are vermin.

  • im hoping for a radiohead album that sounds like this... I hope they they just keep making music till they can't. this is gorgeous . holy fuck. So just perfect. The changes. If any member of radiohead read this, please i would love a recorded version of arpeggi orchestral version .. the one that is on youtube but recorded nice.... it is.. in fact.. beautiful

  • sounds like herbert from family guy is singing this. Anyhow, RIP harry, you are an inspiration to the world.

  • What a hero. Rest well.

  • what did this man do ? im ashamed that i realy dont know him and never heard of him

  • @samthepspuser He was the last WW1 Soldier that fought in the trenches to be alive.

  • @samthepspuser He was the Last Fighting Tommy to remember the trenches of the Great War. R.I.P. Harry Patch.

  • Thankyou for this. God Bless them all..God Bless my Grandfather aged 32 who died as a result of injuries in The Great War,,, xxx

  • pffffffffffffffffffffffff a looser...

  • Don`t forget Simon on the right of HP.

  • Thank you Harry

  • Tommy always smiles.

  • Guys / girls, full respect to Radiohead for putting pen to paper, but the real heroes are the men and boys who were sent to their deaths by leaders who possessed no morals, ufortunately the term HERO has been tarnished by modern media and somewhat demoted and now even a footballer can be a hero, Respect to both sides not just "our boys" because underneath it all we all bleed the same colour. RIP Harry Patch

  • crying

  • You mean Simon Western. I saw him in, Surrey, once. Top gent..

  • and the man to his left receives the award for the ugliest man in history!

  • @mrjordiem Errr if you mean the guy seated to his right he had his face burned off in the Falklands conflict.

  • @mrjordiem Errr if you mean the guy seated to his right, I believe he had his face burned off in the Falklands conflict.

  • @mrjordiem and you receive the award for the biggest dickhead in the world!

  • @mrjordiem Just abit harsh mate. Guy's a bit of a hero in my opinion

  • He said to Tony Blair that war is "nothing better than legalised mass murder" and he never actually killed anyone in the war, just shot their legs. THAT is inspiration, not all the soldiers with all the "glory" of killing innocent strangers "so that we may be free".

  • If you want an appreciation for how vast Radiohead's styles are, just realize, the same band that made this song...made "Spooks"...like 2 years ago lol.

  • i would die the happiest man, if i had a radiohead song named after me.

  • Just think of the pictures in his head he has to carry with him" in his long life. I am pleased he now has peace away from the horror"s that will have burdened him. RIP

  • at 01:12 was the soldier carrying an injured German soldier?

  • @ViewerNumber13 yep he was

  • at 01:12 was the soldier carrying an injured German soldier?

  • harry patch represents every British soldier who fought in ww1

  • A deeply moving and respectful tribute, not only to Harry Patch, but to all who went away and never came back. To see 13 dislikes towards this particular video deeply saddens me. This tribute not only makes us aware of what those men went through, but also makes us aware of what truly horrific sights, sounds and smells they must have endured. No words can really bring ease to such a conflict which claimed so many. Respect to Thom Yorke for recording this fine song.

  • R.I.P forever Harry patch. He should have been made a sir at some point as should Henry allingham...the other profound and courageous hero to fight for our country. Long live the heroes of BRITAIN. farewell my fellow friends

  • Anyone who disrespects this tribute or Harry patch himself is an absolute waste of space with not the intellect to comprehend what he went through for all of us back then & today. Why someone would insult this...well that's just fucked up but the true spirit of a hero lives on...unfortunately so do war loving, gun crazy fucks who glorify such tragic events such as war & bloodshed. It's a travesty & complete bullshit that we fight the governments war. Let those cunts do it themselves.

    R.I.P for

  • nice song,and nice video

  • oh how delicate a human life really is in this cosmic universe......RIP Harry Patch

  • God bless hary patch, but the fact that he was pushed in his weelcheir in a parade ov people who know nothing of the NEW WORLD ORDER makes me feel sick!

  • @spasemonkey05 really? do you have to bring up the "NEW WORLD ORDER" in evreything "honey pass the salt and learn about the NEW WORLD ORDER" just lisen to the song

  • a great man

  • War is wrong no matter what reason. The lyrics of this song are Harry's words himself

"It wasn't worth it. If two governments can't agree give 'em a rifle each and let THEM sort it out."

"The third world war will be chemical. I don't want to see it."

"Irrespective of the uniforms we wore, we were all victims."

"It would be very easy for our generation to forget the true horror of war, without the likes of Harry to remind us. I hope we do not forget."-Thom Yorke

    Regardless, it's a beautiful song.

  • 9 dislikes??? for god's sake....what's so bad to dislike this song?? or clip?? tell me...

  • A beautiful song.

I have been reading some quotes of which Harry said, His words on the horror of war has been absorbed by many and should be heard by everyone, it is Murder on a mass scale. No Pride in it at all it's shameful. Men of Politics have a lot to answer for. Thanks for telling Tony Blair your thoughts on leaders who take people to war.

    Harry Patch R.I.P

  • A true hero, may you rest in peace Harry. The last link to a generation that had to endure hell for our freedom today. We will always remember their sacrifice so that we can be free God bless.

  • I wish i could hav emet Harry, it must be amazing to talk to somone who ent through all that slaughter RIP british soldiers & other countries its just i am english;) R.I.P all soldiers that dies in the great war.

  • Its a total disgrace that YouTube have a advert over this video. Be ashamed YT :-<

    R.I.P. Harry Patch, Brave Warrior.

  • @Nigelcf

Totally agree - show a bit of decency Google/Youtube. I'm sure your profits can be made from more appropriate opportunities.

  • @Nigelcf say hi to market economy

  • Rest In Peace Harry....you cant hear the bombs now old boy. sleep well.

  • Harry, you lived through hell, now you can spend an eternity in heaven. God bless you

  • this video just played with a likin f'ing park tour pre-video advert.. i spat my beer all over my goodself. fml. and f'**k youtube

  • God bless Harry and the lads that never came home. Regards a grateful nation.

  • @leomantles: Because Michael Jackson was literally brilliant in some way. And Harry Patch? Was just old. He was a soldier, hence he was a killer, just like Germans. Now he dies... so what? Say anything, but remember he was killing people. NO MORE WARS!

Radiohead - 'You and Whose Army'

  • @quazusss

No micheal jackson was afuckin werdo freak nonce cunt ! who is up in heaven fucking bubbles up the arse....

    Harry Patch was a MAN!

  • @quazusss

Well, actually he never killed anyone, he chose not to kill anyone when it was the easiest way to survive, I'm not sure Michael Jackson could have done the same thing under those circumstances.

"Just like Germans" yeah because only Germans killed people as they are the evil people !

Micheal Jackson got more credit when he died because he was an entertainer, that's it nothing more, nothing less. Now let us respect Harry Patch's memory without your clueless answers

  • @quazusss Shut the fuck up you disrespectful cunt. Harry Patch was a hero.

  • @quazusss 2 months ago, but im sure i remember him telling that he brought someone down but didnt kill him" .. MJ imo is just a singer dancer. HArry may have been only old, but he still stressed the message to all whilst he could that war is wrong. Gets my respect, shame people like you cant see it this way.

  • why Michael Jackson`s funeral had more cover that Harrys???

  • awful

  • wonderful song !!!!love <3 it !! the best song to live this world!!!!

  • wonderful song !!!!love <3 it !!

  • radiohead=overblown maudlin treacle

  • Irc..........................................

  • Similar al estilo de Sigur Rós.

Pero aun así me encanto el tema.

  • The last Canadian WW1 Veteran just died. It sucks. He wasn't a combat veteran like Harry was, though.

  • Another mysteriously alive radiohead song.

  • Harry Patch - one of the UK's finest ever citizens...

  • for a soldier, a peace song!

  • Is it just me, or can anyone else not make out one word of this song?

  • @mrmoofle its the same with every radiohead song... I dont see the appeal.

  • @wildirish998 sad but impossible

  • Farewell, Mr. Patch! As a former member of the current German armed forces I salute you.

  • @hyperseauton You fucking spineless, shallow prick

  • @KoshmarUK

    Come and get me, monko.

  • @hyperseauton Tosser - I wouldn't waste the air on you. You're not fit to mention the name of the likes of Harry Patch. You're not a man, you're an insect. Fuck off to Faces nightclub where all the arseholes go, you'll be in among your own there. Cowardly wanker

  • @hyperseauton

    Fail troll is fail.

  • @hyperseauton PRICK!

  • @hyperseauton from your post i assume you did'nt see any of the 20th century as you are to young, had it not been for "old git's" ,as you so eloquently put it, you would not have "fashonable consumpton" nor "london elite", so please keep your inftile, ill informed small minded opinions to your childish self and let grown ups show our respect for men who will always be a thousand times better than you could ever hope to be!

  • i hope, that theres never a war fought at the likes of the the first world war... never.

  • good video, but the bastards cut out a massive chunk of the song. R.I.P Harry Patch. our generation need people like him to remind us.

  • R.I.P. Harry Patch

  • 0:37 poor man got shot in the head even before he made it over the top.

R.I.P. those who fought in the Great War.

Harry, We Salute you! A credit to our Nation!

  • the thing that man has seen...wow..the song is excellent

  • gracias jonny, gracias thom, exelente cancion!!!!

  • Absolutely marvellous

  • all this time I thought it was Harry PARTCH, the composer, who the song was about... but he died years ago.

  • So horrinly ironic how we lament all the men and women and children lost in the two previous world wars, and now this generation is being brainwashed to go and fight in tha bloody pointless war n Afghanistan.

    Haven't we learnt anything?!

  • @degree7 youre so right, a ridiculous war

  • goodbye Harry Patch .

  • they cut the best part out of this video, the haunting middle section

  • great symphony. Radiohead & Muse are great bands. Someone had listened the symphony that muse releases on the last september? is great too.

  • straigh to the bone

  • would you bitches stop arguing and grow up? people like seeing positive comments.

  • completely justified response

  • basically two chords for the whole song...

what r they doing!!?? its going to need more than strings to make it good. very dissapointing

  • @cadlelack Does it really matter? The song is in memory of Harry Patch and all the other wonderful men who fought in the First World War. How many chords do you need in a song to make it less disappointing in your eyes? Many of Bob Dylan's most famous songs only have three chords in them, and yet it's the whole atmosphere of the lyrics AND the music which make it brilliant. Forget about how chords there are, or how awful you think the melody is. Listen to the lyrics. Think of the sentiment.

  • last time i checked music was supposed to be an art form... sure it was a nice thought in regards to the lyrics but he should have just written a poem the music is shit

  • ok.

    i love radiohead so much.

but this song is a dissapointment its too simple, there were a few beautiful moments but nothign that made me tingle.

the quality of their music is getting worse...and im scared that they are gonna make a lot of shit in their next album

  • they've never really done a fully orchestrated piece like this before. i think "motion picture soundtrack" is the closest style-sounding song to this.

to me, radiohead songs grow on you. you can't just listen to it once. and you have to listen to songs at the right time. youtube really isn't the place to be connecting to this kind of music.

throw it on an MP3 player, wait for a nice day, take a walk through a park, and let your mind wander

  • you should throw it on an mp3 player have a walk in the park and slit ur wrists because you sound as shit as the music is.

    you pretentious maggot

  • i get angry at people over the internet too

  • nice comeback ya little shiittt

  • it's alright, i'm better than you and that's all that matters

  • better at wat?

  • life. goodbye

  • seriously could you argue on a different video

  • @cadlelack

    A little over the top?

You gave an opinion: I gave mine.

    Calm down.

  • yawn, your opinion. was "does it really matter" in response to, there are two chords in this song.

and. id like to say that ur name is gay.

  • My name is homosexual?

    Very smart.

  • @danccaddy what a comment! how many times have you listened to this tune, because the 1st time i heard ok i didn't think it was special, but i've listened a few times and its amazing! and they will not make anymore albums, only singles from now on im sure the quality will remain as high or even higher than its ever been...

  • @danccaddy oh and simple doesn't mean bad!? i dont know where you got that notion from.

  • RIP Harry

  • such a euphoric string melody

  • this track came out before the Resistance. and it's not like Radiohead haven't done all orchestral work before. they played an all orchestral gig at Ether festival with the Nazareth orchestra in 2005, and Jonny has been composing modern classical music for a few years. if anything i'd say muse is trying too hard to catch up to radiohead. they even used Ondes Martenot on the Resistance. come on, that "innovation" is 10 years too late

  • Totally. Radiohead are so far ahead. It's not worth mentioning both bands in the same sentence.

  • @manco82 yeah..........

  • with music against the war

  • I hope Radiohead does more music with more string ensembles.

  • You can see clearly in that opening sequence the whole 'going over the top' is fake.

There are too many fake films of this action,so it's very easy to tell.

Take my word for it or not.

  • haunting song, Radiohead has that effect.

  • This is a beautiful song with noble intentions of exposing the dedication of Harry's life for the gift of freedom to millions of people. A gift of this magnitude is difficult to offer because its cost is very high. Bravo Radiohead for your gift to us and to Harry!

  • i don't appreciate the fake footage of going over the top,but i do appreciate the beutiful people who died for no reason.

  • A Dirty War undoubtedly addition, they were so bad that the had to do something to enforce peace in Europe ...

  • Damn..why do people forget this war it was horrible!!!R.I.P Harry and thank you and your brothers for your service, you will never be forgotten.

  • rip

  • No more wars!

  • I love the part where the englishman is helping the german, very symbolic of how it was more civil war than anything

  • Where is that part?

  • first time i heard this song it brought me to tears.

  • I'd pay millions just to speak to this man, it's one of my heroes :o

  • deep

  • These are precisely the images I see whenever I hear this song. How can you not?

  • all hail harry

  • lest we forget

  • 0.30 to 0.45 I found very disturbing. poor fellow.

    lest we forget.

  • wow... this is just...makes you sad well lets hope there wont be any more wars like wwi or wwii and check out the wwi museum in kansas city its the only wwi museum dedicated to wwi only

  • RIP harry patch and everyone in the world wars, they made the ultimate sacrifice for the future generations and created the building blocks for the future and for that i salute them...

  • Radiohead have immortalized Harry's and all the other WW1 victims story.

    RIP Harry.

  • rest in peace harry. thankyou

  • Greatest respects to you Harry for all your service toBritain ngland and to the defending of this country.

    May you rest in peace.

    God bless Harry.

  • On Remembrance Sunday, Remember those who aren't here this morning. Also those who gave everything so that you could argue about your favourite bands on a memorial page. Pathetic.

  • Too damn right, agree with war or not young people died and respect and mourn them for that. Take your issues elsewhere and grow the hell up.

  • I really can't believe you ignorant twats can be so disrespectful.

Are you not watching the content of the film?

    God Bless You Harry.

    RiP

  • Rest in peace Harry!

  • whos rockman238?

his shit talking is all over the place.

  • @HOMExSKILLET

He was a drunken and apparently stoned douchebag who came onto the page to mouth off about Radiohead and tried to insult anyone who told him to just shut up and take his aggro elsewhere.

Bit dickish seeing as the importance of this song is on Harry, not how great Radiohhead is or isn't.

  • i hope radiohead does a tour ... when they release there new album ...

  • It's funny when people talk shit about radiohead cuz it makes them sound like dumb Nickelback fan.

  • @tetsusaiga17: they're shite

  • @RichieW: So is your face

  • your mum

  • Are you planning to make any sense in this conversation?

  • neither the time nor the place..

  • amazing video... take yer bullshit comments elsewhere fuckwits

  • Thank you.. lovely use of film footage. When Harry Patch died the "Passing of an age " was mentioned a lot and I explored it in my animation Waiting for you and England to return (on youtube)but more in relation to WW2

  • Young people should be told that Harry patch personified what REAL heroism was about....and no, that's not glorifying war, but realising that these were REAL MEN. The coked up, spoilt, weak, ignorant, self pitying, vapid celebrities that are idolised by today's society wouldn't be fit to lick their boots clean

  • Come off it would you, stop idolising them. They were scared, normal human beings, many crying for their mothers, who had no choice but to 'fight' at risk of getting shot for desertion. The chilling thing about the war is that they were men just like you or I forced to endure the most horrific war ever seen.

You make it sound as if vanity and ignorance didn't exist 90 years ago. Even if it didn't, I'd take today's society over the poverty, war and lack of opportunities of yesteryear.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom tbh the only people from ww1 that i believe should be called REAL men are the ones who when their officers weren't around would go to the other side of no mans land and do things like eat dinner or play soccer with the other sides troops.large areas of the front where they had light fighting, there is also a story about a German unit that threw a stone with a letter that said we are gonna send some artillery fire over we will blow a wistle to let you to know to take cover.

  • He was a man obviously haunted for the rest of his life by the horrors of WW1, but his words had a huge effect on anyone who ever heard him.

    RIP Harry.

If there is someone up above, let him bless Harry (and Thom as well).

    R.I.P. Harry & mates

  • It is the curse of man that we forget

  • This song is in aid of The Royal British Legion. Please do your bit by subscribing to our channel!

    thanks

  • congratulations on the footage.

It works fantastically well with the song.

    Haunting.

  • When the rich go to war its the poor who die

    Rest in Peace Harry
