A quick word about the finns in ww2 - There never was any big breaktrough in the finnish russian wars 1939 - 1944. In the coutination war 1944 which the speaker ment, the russians lost major battles like talli Ihatala and only getting some 100km of space in total. The losses were 3 dead russians for every finn and the reaon there was a peace thearty was that germany couldnt keep up the proise that they would hold narva to make sure the russians couldnt start a amphibious assault on finnland.

Even retreating the Germans made the Russians pay in blood. The first months of Operation barborossa , Russians lost over a million men. and you wanna talk accomplishments? JEt fighters, first assault gun, v2 rockets...The IL-2 wasn't a superior aircraft , they just produced so many over 40,000... because they germans shot so many down

Yes, it is true the Germans killed more Russians but many of these deaths was due to poor treatment of Russian POWs and bad leadership following Red Army purges in addition to Red Army tactics.

The IL-2 WAS a superior aircraft: there's quality in quantity.

@June28July Yes i do, go find an M1 Garand, the AK and the Garand both have the same trigger mechanism. It's Soviet propaganda that Mr Kalashnikov didn't get to look at other country's weapons like the STG-44. Of course he got to.

Even the M16 was influenced by the STG-44.

But neither was ever copied, just influenced. :)

How does one go about proving that Kalashnikov looked at the STG-44? I mean, I don't doubt it but how does one know for certain? Have we paper work that he did indeed look at the STG-44? Similarities can be as a result of coincidence right?

@June28July The AK-47 was Kalashnikov's design but it was influenced by other firearms including the STG-44. He would have gotten to look at it (there were a lot of them and it had actually been in service since 1942 but i forget it's name)and would have incorporated anything he lernt from the STG-44 into the AK-47.

Like come on, did Mr K really just think up the AK-47 without anything else influencing his design, that never happens with anything.

@June28July The trigger mechanism is the exact same as the M1 Garand's if that the same you can't say that the whole gun was just of his own intuition.

I don't try to steal any credit form Kalashnikov, the AK is a brilliant gun and he deserves the credit. But it's silly to think he didn't lean anything from the STG-44. The Soviets always did that, hell they claimed that all modern inventions were Soviet.

I hope i got my point across,im no expert just i think thats whats logical :)

@popper504 Wow you don't know any history. It can be argued that ALL assault rifles were copied from the STG since it was the first assault rifle of its kind. Sure the russians lost a lot of men. 1 in 3 germans were killed by the soviets so you can shove that argument right up your ass. Germans were known for quality not quantity. The russians eventually beat em out because of this. the v2s were ineffective, they were a scare tactic at best. don't argue with someone who knows ruso history buddy.

@popper504 But the V2's were not significant on the battlefield, however like you said they were very advanced for the day and when the war in Europe ended both the western allies and the soviets scrambled for V2's and other pieces of German tech.

Without the V2's humanity would still have gotten to outer space, it just would have taken longer, one can not denie that the V2's, all German tech and all the German scientist taken after the war that had a very large effect on future tech.

They both have the exact same trigger mechanism. Kalashnikov is bullshitting when he says other country's weapons didn't have an effect of his design. It's all that soviet propaganda bullshit. :)

The Soviets made good shit, like the Soviet 120mm mortar the Germans fully copied it.

But most of the time, German ground equipment was way better than anything the other guy had. But even though a Panther is technically Superior to the T-34, a 152mm arty shell doesn't give a shit haha.
