do you need to use the FMC if you want to do a simple IFR flight from lets say Logan Intl. to Orlando with an ILS landing?. i am thinking about getting this add-on and am very confused. what excactly is it that the FMC does? the add-on im probobly gonna get is 737 pilot in command
@123bagpiper The FMC is the key to doing anything in this bird. I wouldn't call Logan to Orlando a "simple" flight; the FMC will calculate your V speeds, show your approach pattern on the MFD and even autotune your radio to the appropriate frequencies.
Simply put, trying to fly this bird without learning the FMC is like trying to go on stage with Metallica and not knowing what a power chord is.
wilco are not what there cracked out to be,, what with missing panals and bouncing aircraft,,if you want a serious filght sim addon for FSX or FS2004 go for PMDG or flight1.
Hee guys, I got a problem and I don't know if it's usual.. Every time I try to put the ICAO code in REF AIRPORT, by example; LGHI ( when I already made the flight plan in fsx default flight plan maker ), than it says 'NOT IN DATABASE'.. Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong?
i know, a lot of airports and star arrival and sid departures are just not in the database, and i cant get an update because wilco desnt offer the database update for free anymore..
well ofcourse it makes difference if you want to fly departure and arrival routes like in real world, you can either google them, print them or copy them by pencil but its easier to just note their name and look them up in the fmc database.
Anyway i just found a database update, its called AIRAC, the current one is AIRAC 0908.
i have a question how do u get this fmc,i mean is it an addon that comes alone or that comes with an addon aircraft,if its like that can u give me the link, and can u activate it from deafault fsx aircraft,,,please helpppppp me
well you have to buy this addon. there isnt any activation for the default 737. go to google and type in wilco 737. and then you can get to their website and purchase it from there.
if u have time or energy, would u please take a looka at this? and how do u read it properly? im about to program the FMC right now, oh another question, does the fmc calulate wich altitude u get for each leg or do u type it in when getting instructions from ATC for departure? i mean the values ATC gives u must be ealy legs and then is it one or more than one altitude they give u until u have to contact center?
yh the fmc does program the altitude itself. when the fmc says you should be at a lower altitude dont get paranoid. jus reset the mcp to the altitude on the fmc. and on the pfd you should see a T/D(time of descent)that is when the plane will start decending.
oka so if i want to align the aircraft with a desired runway i wanna land at o wich runway ATC guides me to how can i find stars that make the aircraft lining up with the ILS runway i wanna land at? did u understand my question?
well you can get charts from other website. but the thing with atc is that they dont give you stars. they do sometimes like when i declared a missed appraoch. otherwise they just give you a runway. but i wold a runway of your choice and they'll get you lined up with the runway. or if they give you a different appraoch to they one you chose then you can easily change it with the fmc.
hey aman! =) how are u? hey u just bought the wilco 737, and i need help with programming the fmc! when u see a route with both airways and fixes how do u look at it and if theres a message saying route discontinuties
well, i dont kno wah u mean by airways and fixes, but wen it says orute discountinued is means the route has been disconnected. now in that space you can either add a waypoint or you can delete. i think you press clear or delete button and then click the button next to route discountinued. im not sure i havent played fsx for over a month.
Would you be able to give me help please with the Wilco 737 fmc, I am fine with the getting the FMC to follow waypoints, it's when it comes to getting the thing to fly the approach to the airport, you know in the normal 737 what you get in flight sim you click GPS and APP what do you do in the Wilco 737 to get it to intercept the ILS? I know i'm programming it wrong but don't know where, if you can help I would greatly appreciate it.
hey i can tell you from my experience with he pmdg 737s that although you have it in the fmc, it will only take you to the approach course, you need to fill in the ils frequency and course, and when the plane is on an intercept heading, click LOC or VOR LOC, then the plane should start turning toward the runway, when on runway heading, click APP or APR not sure how the button is exactly, then it will be set to capture the glideslope when it comes alive, caution i don't think it will autoland.
Make sure the ILS freq is in your FMC in your INIT page and place that number into your manual settings next to your radio navs. All you have to do is leave Lnav on and turn on approach + both autopilots A and B. Lnav disconnects automatically when the ILS is intercepted. Hope that helps.
ummm, well it might be that you have a low performance pc. try to play fsx without anything else on such as msn, music, the internet. then it wont crash. if it still crashes then reinstall it but when you UNinstall it delete all the wilco folders in the flight simulator folder in program files.
sorry, everyone whos buttons didnt move, i dont know what to do with it bcoz my fsx recently messed up n whiped all my fsx files so i dont even know how it would have been fixed
Poisunoskid, a very good description and it has helped me out on a problem, I'm still figuring how to calculate the top of descent, I'll need to buy the full Mike Ray manual or get it as a torrent, it will describe everything in detail so as to avoiding guessing.
I'm now familiar with all of the switches and have studied the 737 technical side which describes in detail the hydraulic resevoirs and air manifold, very interesting.
The flightdeck is looking very familar to me now, superb stuff.
bcoz when ur approaching tod on ur fmc u'll c a T/D which means time of descent and the autopilot will configure ur descent. make sure u dnt go crazy wen on the last way points u shud b decending. it'll only descent on the T/D. have a nice flight
You can find the info in your manual page within the FSX> simobject> aircraft> wilco manual folder.
Although it was intended to be basic, a full and detailed PDF or book can be purchased from the author MIKE RAY which explains the CDU in detail.
For FMC SID's/STAR's updates you will need to go on wilco publishing website and click on the update page, an FMC update picture will show on the right of the page.
You need to request a flightplan in FSX before you can calculate it on the FMC.
Example, on the flightplan page on FSX I request a IFR high altitude flight plan from manchester to prague EGCC - LKPR
Then I will request it to be approved by the tower.
Once that has been done then you can calculate it on FMC, once the execute button is illuminated and pressed it will show on the Flight director which can be followed precisesly using LNAV, passenger display shows ETA distance etc.
its more realistic. and the default is a 737-800 wilco only have the -300, -400 and the -500. and this one has an FMC. so its not as simple as pressing the GPS button.
did you mean i have to click 5 time to save the route?

To program a route of the CDU to the FMC is simple really, all you need is three bits of information.
Your current position, ie EGCC
Your departure airport ie EGCC and departure runway ie 24R.
Your destination airport, ie LKPR.
After that, the FMC automatically finds the route which needs to be executed in order for it to be displayed on the Flight director screen.
Using LNAV on the MCP your aircraft will follow the route automatically.
Performance and N1 speeds, comfigured afterwards
