just want to make it clear for all who don't know and the ones too stupid to realise the Mad Max car is a FORD FALCON COUPE dude the Jensen interceptor isn't in the bloody film even the police car is the Falcon just without fat tiers a common mistake made by many get it right guys
the worst crime was rereleasing the movie for america with the bad voiceovers, really terrible!! The front piece was a fibreglass setup produced by an aftermarket company.saw the same front on an xc van on the cover of a 70's magazine.pretty effective.
as for the issue of who would win, hello people? post apocalyptic future, no infrastructure? little or no working electronic hardware (nuclear weapons = EMPs dontcha know), small commune manufacturing crappy fuel from Crude of Dubious quality? neither o the cars would even be factory spec, and i hate to say this, but the truck wud probably win: nitrous has the potential to make it go boom, but if max even attempted to fire up a working blower it would shear the V8I in half from the sheer Torque
@DarkAzrael1986 what? you're saying that a 351 cleveland wouldn't be able to use a supercharger because the block would split in two?? Hmmm, better tell that to all the people using blowers on clevelands then...clevelands can run up to around 1,000 hp before block splitting becomes an issue - by this time you'd be going to aftermarket blocks...
the car in the Second Film is also a FORD FALCON XB GT (however it was a slightly later model, more extensive custom work was required see defwax7) below, NOT a JENSEN INTERCEPTOR!!! they gave it the name InTERCEPTOR purely to denote its purpose in the first film.
the car in the first film was a relatively straightforwad custom, most of the work being Aesthetics (yes guys, Sadly ther Blower IS fake, although theres a japanese company out ther somewhere that make a reduced power output working lookey-likey.) the cars n bikes from the first film were mostly left t sit in a scrap yard in oz til someone came along, recognised the V8 and bought it on the spot. Incredibly the first movies all-up budget was only $1,000,000 AUS :-O !!!
i highly doubt that truck could possibly run that car down no matter how much nitrous you put thru it. they both have the 351C engine. its fucked up how they always have to destroy the best character of any movie, the car.
The motor is a ford xb falcon hardtop 1973-1976. rear end is a ford torino joined by a mustang base and front end. The car in question is 1973. However the square headlights on the car says to me it's a ford fairmont xc, usually headlamps are round. The mad max car is difficult to date, as it was a mish mash of different models of the the falcon. Still a beauty any road.
The movie car is a 73 XB GT. they added the XC GXL headlamps to suit the custom nose. There's tons of info all over the net that have the FACTS about the real car
@defwax7 wrong. There is NO Torino OR Mustang in this car at all. XB falcon with Concorde front, roof and boot spoilers added. Go to my channel and look at my car, 73 XB coupe with no body mods. Certainly no mustang or torino parts...
@oneweirdfellah yes, lots of people assume its a Torino - understandable, since when they were designing the Aussie coupe they initially looked at, then rejected, Torino bodies and ended up designing their own. Having said that, there is some similarity particularly around the shape of the side windows but the Aussie car is a unique design - there are no similar parts (although I'm pretty sure they DO share the same front bumper as a 71 Mustang..)
If there was a car to pick to use if the world was gonna end tomorrow, it would be the Ford Falcon with the interceptor motor...supercharer, maybe a delorean just because it could also function as an impromtu plate. Go stainless steel
You may be correct, most common year for the XB Falcon was '74. But they were made over a few years. Hard to tell, because different front end. Still one of my faves. Even with the fake blower.
The Mad Max interceptor is a 1974 XB Ford Falcon coupe. It is powered by a 351 Cleveland motor, the supercharger was a dummy rigged so it could be turned on and off.

Sure, but speeding up the film was a fail.
They should have sped up the cars!
The first Max was better but this one was better than the next one.
I hope the next one doesn't keep going downhill.
