The tables are custom. However, tables look like - well tables. Metal with wood cladding and all the electrical nicely placed underneath.

For the money you shell out on Apple it better not ever have a problem and be high quality. So you get nice hardware, really expensive and single sourced.

Meanwhile for a fraction of the cost, you can go Msoft and run modeling programs no Apple can handle.

And a Msoft phone can run more than one app at a time for Apple people that's a magical operation.

And what's so bad about that? They took the look and feel of the apple store and improved upon it, such as the Microsoft surface tables there and they also sell Xbox games. What is awesome is that if you want an Xbox 360 game, you just choose it from the computer and then the employees go in the backroom and print the copy out. It's awesome.

I'm sorry, Microsoft is not Apple, not everything they do is called "innovative" or "original" If a design of a store works, then use it. If you read the powerpoints that were leaked about the design fo the Microsoft stores they took a look at many other retail stores and tried to take the bost of all worlds, including the Apple stores. If you know how business works you should know this, if the competitor makes something good, copy their feature and try to make it better. hence, the iPod.

I hate the Apple store. Every time I go to one, it's always too loud, there are always certain color-shirted employees, doing nothing, who can't help me with my question and direct me to another employee currently swamped with half a dozen other shoppers, and I can never find a damn register.

Microsoft had a good opportunity to fix some of those issues, and make a better store, but like always Steve Ballmer just wanted to do the bare minimum, and straight out copy Apple, even it's imperfections.
