I'm getting Quake 4 in my custom PC....hehe.

I've played a demo of Doom 3 and I despised it. While I liked the graphics and the creepiness....I hated how I couldn't see 2 feet in front of my face. Not to mention I can't shoot worth crap in some of the really dark levels, yet enemies could hit me 100% of the time. Just felt cheap, but character interaction is great in gaming and to me Quake 4 looks to have a lot of that.

@JC040696 no, it requires pixel shader 1.1 , 265 mb video memory , basicly same card as doom 3 requires (weak card) but this game does require more RAM than doom 3, max is 1 gb ram , min is 512 mb ram.

I'l place Quake 4 the second of my favo FPS games. (first goes for Far Cry, nothing tops that baby)

If anything however Quake 4 got some great mods out there however like that Quake 2D mode that makes the game plays like Megaman X8/Duke Nukem Manhattan Project.

@mikeycoop1 Depends on what you like, demons or aliens, personally Quake 4 is more fun imo, Quake 4 has vecichles(sp) and friendly soldiers while in Doom 3 you are completely alone, let alone for a few turrets that can be activated to kill the demons (those tend to be very rare too) Quake 4 isn't too dark, Doom 3 is and Doom 3 is surpassed by F.E.A.R imo.

Quake 4 is more about a war environment instead of a stranded marine fighting against hell. I liked Quake 4 cuz of the immersion, you feel like you're in a war but still have plenty of interaction. In Doom3 it did a good job of showing that you're pretty much alone other than useless scientists and sentry turrets against the hell spawn. I liked the quake4 feeling better than being alone, even as an oldschool gamer. Great game

I can help u. You need to reinstal Quake 4 an start them where you have installed them. I have this problem and it's so stupid.

here is some good advise: dont ever bother with computer games unless your extremly rich.the only way you can play video games on a computer is if you have a super high end graphics card. my experience with computer games has been awful to say the least. my games keep crashing, along with fucking driver problems. so many things can go wrong with computers, its not worth the hastle.

Do not say "dont ever bother" unless u know what your doing with the hardware. i can run this game fine with no issues. and im using an AMD Athlon 5200+ dual core, which is an old architecture. Save up some cash and get an Nvidia GTX 280 or better like i did and it will run perfectly.

well id much rather pay for building a pc that can play any game i want, rather than having to buy a Xbox 360 and have to buy microsoft points cards so i can get mods or whatever on Xbox Live.

Or pay for a PS3 and have to make sure its a 60 Gig model so my PS1&2 games still work.

For me its much less complicated because i dont have to get an expensive console, i just put the disc in the drive and the games run at 1600X1200 or better.

I'm not disliking the Quake series at all because I like the series but it went from Quake 2 with a real single player which had real levels and real enemies to Quake 3 which was basically nothing but a FPS multiplayer like style game even for the single player mode, then went back to actual single player gameplay with quake 4. I guess they took a break with the missions and levels killing enemies with Quake 3. Long live the Quake series!!!!
