let me know how it works out for you im in a cross im stuck between the jekyll and the trek ex 8. im looking for a good single track bike but i want something that can take some abuse... im leaning more towards the jekyll i really just want to know how it climbs? is it comparable to like an all mountain or xc bike or maybe somewhere in the middle? thanks
i just got mine, but i have ridden one before, and i can tell you it climbs like a champ. One demo weekend, i rode 5 diff bikes, including the Jekyll, an RZ120, GT Force, GT Marathon, and one other (can't remember) and the Jekyll climbed better than all of them, and was by far the most confident descending. The shock they have in there is really amazing, and if you got the carbon version, it's super light. I can't speak for the Trek, but i'm sure you'll love the Jekyll.
@consequencevideos At a demo I rode the fuel ex 9.9, and the claymore 1. The claymore climbed as well as the fuel ex 9.9, and descended like the best freeride bikes. I wouldn't try 7 foot drops to flat on the fuel ex, but its nothing while riding the claymore, which is also awesomely light(about 28 pounds) The jekyll is even lighter than the claymore, so it should t climb even better.
I think the Carbon Ultimate comes in around 25lbs. I have the Carbon 2, and it's around 28-ish, maybe 29 - weight savings is all in the components, though; the frames are identical, except for the paint.
nice vid..
