The US has not been capitalistic for years. The government has its hands in everything. Remember this mess was created by the governments desire to provide all Americans with homes. Clearly home ownership was not meant for everyone. We just learned that lesson the hard way. Clinton changed laws allowing the sale of loans to Wall Street. This crisis is an example of what happens when good intentions go horribly wrong. Not capitalism. Our politicians are just as corrupt as yours.

This is the most important question we can ask about dealing with the global downturn. In our society we can manage with a lot less, but those who have next to nothing can't. Can we come out of recession with the poorest in the world better protected than now? That is the big challenge for us all.
