crap!!! i feel bad for you and your neighbors!!!never seen a torado before cause im in northern PA! but got very high winds that did some damage in the summer!!!
Wow you are very lucky to have gotten to safety in time! It came so fast you must've had only 4 or 5 min. to get to safety! There was alot of damage done and I'm very happy you and your family are ok. I watched both parts of your videos and they were amazing! The fruit of the loom underwear part is just hilarious lol... very funny! I've just recently started researching about tornadoes and want to become a storm chaser. Scary but thats what I like about it!
Thank you so much for posting this! This video shows a classic supercell thunderstorm when the rain and hail strike, then becomes quiet and then all of a sudden, a tornado! These videos are classic! Congrats to your videos and I am glad you are ok!
Wow i'm sorry to hear all that happened to your neighborhood and all those houses... I hope everyone was okay! Did you film this in a VHS? I know alot asked you why you just posted it, so i was thinking you burned it on a dvd with a VHS/DVD recorder, then posted it. Hey, it was the 90's! lol. Again, thanks for sharing, but i feel bad for all that lost their houses!
Hi, Yes you are right, i first filmed it with a VHS camera, and then much later I transfered the footage to DV and then Mpeg2 format. thanks, have a fun day
I heard this particular storm was the strongest tornado to hit Illinois in 20 years. Wind speeds up to 260 mph.
How long was the actual impact of the tornado? In Part One, it sounded like it was only a couple of seconds. Was this edited, or was that the actual duration of impact?
I forget the exact date of the Plainfield, IL tornado, but I'm pretty sure it was the same year. You may be thinking of that tornado since it was rated either an F4 or F5. This looks more like F2 to F3 damage.
@EffinMatty when a tornado hits, no matter how strong or loud it is, because they travel pretty fast, most of the time they come and do the damage and have whisked away in 30 seconds to 1 minute, but depending on how fast the twister is moving along the ground, sometimes the impact can only last about 10 seconds, its amazing what they can do in such a short space of time :D
u sound like a teen in this vid so u must be like an adult by now lol im only 12. and do you know wut type of tornado wus that on the scale im just guessing its an f3 but tell me if you know
@Lampofilm Hi, I was in my first year of college back then, so yes, I was a lot younger. Now I am 39 years old.
Not sure what scale the tornado was.
Wow 39! Okay, so how long did it take for the people to come out and fix your home? Do currently still live there or another city? U seem like a really kool person! do u have a twitter?
@Lampofilm hi there, im a storm chaser in training and judging by the look of the damage, e.g trees uprooted and severe structural damage, i can tell you that that tornado was most probably F3 on the fujita scale, im so glad that you are okay :D
Its a good thing you didn't wait just a little bit longer to take your shower...putting you IN the shower at the time the storm hit. These were great videos, though I do feel badly about saying that because of all the damage/loss your family suffered. Its 18 years later now, so I'm sure everything is back to the way it was.
If my primestar dish held up I would be ok. Primestars gone now.

what a devastating blow to you and your family that must have been!
let's hope that was the worst thing that ever happens to you, and that you never see another tornado, or if you do, you get video of it.

@ thecompanycar: The Plainfield tornado was on August 28, 1990. So yes it was the same year. And it was an F5 to be exact.

august 28 1990 I remember that tornado, it was an F5, also, there were sporadic tornados off and on that day, Illinois has some tough weather!

tornadoes have been heard to only last seconds on a house it seams. No editing, a tornado can move fast. thats why they say not to try to outrun it.

It's maximum rating was F3, if it were an F4 or F5, there would have been nothing standing afterwards.
