since he doesn't know how its painted and just incase anybody was wanting to know. they screw the pickgaurd and back plate on. then put the guitar on a turntable and spin it while droping paint on. then it is cleared and all the hardware is put on.

on of my guitars is a one year old squier affinity strat that is solid alder and its actually pretty good quality except the pickups are pretty weak and the tuners could be a lot better . but the body, neck, and fretboard are really good for the price.

Also, I prefer the Mexican vintage lines, with the 50s, 60s, and esp. the Road Worn Strats. They all sound as good as American strats do, mostly because of components and better pickups. But don't knock Squier, they are still a quality brand for producing cheap guitars.

I do agree that Squiers can actually hold their own. They were pretty trashy in the 90's era, but they have vastly improved their line and have a ton of cool new models, esp. the vintage modern line. Very cool guitars AND basses, I own the P-bass, great value for $250. I think conversely, the Mexican Standard Fenders of the 90s were OK, but they always had sharp frets on the edges, which is no fun. The most recent ones have really upgraded, necks are smooth, but pickups are still kinda weak.

I noticed that with the weaker pickups. When I was trying guitars out when buying my Strat (mine is a 1999 model), I liked the sound of the secondhands better (plus they were cheaper, even though this was mint) and the newer ones weren't so great.

When buying my Tele though, it was the other way around, I liked the newer model better, because the pickups were hotter in the new Teles.
