Brilliant. You managed the impossible twice over: You made a pretty pedantic story look cool, and you made the Cybermen actually look kinda scary. Take a bow.
If the BBC would only commission recreations of all the missing episodes with this incredibly detailed animation it would be almost as good as watching the real thing! BBC, pull your bloody fingers out!
This video is cool and super in many, ways and also I would like to see more scenes animated from this story which would be good and excellent in many ways. I enjoy this video enormously and it is ace.
omg i would really love it if u re animated parts of th wheel in space and maybe go on 2 do it all, ure models are fantastic, ure animations are accurate and just bloody fantastic
This is SUPERB! Both the fantastic level of the animation, and the wonderful way the sequence mimics the brilliant ALIEN trailer! Well done, thank you, THE WHEEL IN SPACE has never looked so good! The Servo Robot is fantastic, and the Cybermen are pretty chilling, here ... :-)
I think this story is superb, even though four of the episodes are missing and possibly lost irrevocably. I also think that, if we could get animated versions of these missing episodes made and released on dvd it would be excellent in every way. I also think the Cybermen were billions of times better in this story than in the colour stories, featuring the Cybermen these Cybermen although there are only two are more menacing and scary. I also like all of the other Cyberstories, in the 60s era.
Trivia for you. Ridley Scott was the designer originally assigned for The Daleks, only he took a sicky that day and the job was given to Ray Cusick instead. I often wonder if the Daleks would have been the success they turned out to be, had Scott designed them and what they could have looked like.
This is incredible! Not to mention a nice supplement to the 60hrs worth on the recent Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set. I hope 2 entertain hire you to work on the classic series DVDs.
I hope that this story can be made in animated form, for dvd like with the Invasion. It would be nice to get an animated version of this story on dvd, especially if the four missing episodes 1,2,4 and 5 cannot ever be recovered and returned to the bbc archives. It is down to the bbc in the end,but I would also like to see every complete story released on audio as a television soundtrack. The missing and incomplete dr who stories have all been, released on audio as television soundtracks.
If the BBC had any sense they would employ you to recreate the lost episodes. Their excuse is that 'they don't want to risk the money' when for them it costs around £25,000 an episode that's animated.
You're doing it better and for next to nothing, and the BBC is a multi billion pound company. They can't say that they 'don't have the money to spare'. It was their fault in the first place.
Cool... It is always interesting to speculate on what Ridley could have achieved if he'd stayed - or perhaps the BBC bureaucracy would have crushed his talent.
I hand delivered the full version to the BBC but tragically they rejected it, saying "BBC Audiobooks (now AudioGO) have produced a wonderful range of audio titles which have proved creatively, to be a successful secondary option to having the episodes themselves and with this in mind we do not feel that reconstructions using telesnaps would fit within our current range of Doctor Who publishing. I'm afraid we will not be able to take your suggestions forward" - Fiona Eastwood - 16 December 2010
Tardis Timegirl Itake my hat off to you. If you could do the complete episodes for Wheel In Space like this, well that would be the most fantastic thing since Doctor Who started. I would go so far as to say that your animation is EVEN BETTER than the original footage!
Yay for another excellent vid this year! Wish they could come more often but these clearly take time to make (and are always awesome) I liked the premise of taking a story like this and Alienising it, so well done! :)
So brilliant! Your vids are always so attentive to detail and yet fresh. Love it! I wish there was more from you all the time. Made my new year! Thanks...
Fab! What talent! I wish those dicks at the BBC hadn't committed chenocide in the 70's!!
