This has always been one of my favorite songs..Willie and I have the same birthday

so when he made the new CD of Cindy Walker's " You Don't Know Me" it was

like magic for me.. also was " I was Just Walking Out the Door " another song

on the CD ..It began with the phone ringing and replies Yes, this is me.. and just

walking out the door to get married.. If you don't have it , I think it is one of the

best he has recorded and there have been some really great ones.. Thanks

The next time I saw Willie he was more talking the songs, looking beat up, not playing his guitar much but making it "big time" in the music world. I never got to see him after that but I still remember how well he wrote, played & sang his music back in the 50's & 60's. He is an accomplished song / soul writer for many other singers who have made it good on his songs. Willie's talent was evident from the beginng, even though it took awhile to be found.

I first met Willie Nelson performing around the Austin/San Antonio area in the early '50's. He was dressed in a dark business suit & tie & white socks. I thought he was really a good singer/musician then. A couple of years later he still wore the same suit but no a tie. Then several years later I saw him again and he was wearing dress pans, plaid shirt & a cowboy hat - his performance was even better.

@CavsLBJ4Life It's soul, man. Check out some of the duets he's made with people. You'd be surprised at the range of artists--including rap artists--who Nelson has performed with. They recognize something in him. And he gives great respect and heart in return. It's taken me years to warm up to him. But he's the real thing: a hard-working musician and songwriter who doesn't know how to quit. I'll take that man as an example to follow any day (but no smoke for me, thanks).
