Duncan, I recently had a mishap with my 3GS. I lost my jailbreak due to a careless connection to iTunes!

Now, I am by no means a techy. I've tried all sorts to get my jailbreak back to no avail.

So, do you know if there will be a new update ready soon?

@michael05050505 iPhone OS 4.0 is just a software upgrade, not a new phone. It should come for free to your 3GS once it comes out as well, so no worries at all.

@utopiafire It's hard to say, but I wouldn't think that 4.0 will be harder to jailbreak necessarily...the most they can do is just patch up the jailbreaks that are out right now. But still, I definitely wouldn't recommend upgrading until the Dev Team gets a good look at it.

@lazylamb195 No word on the release date, but it will probably be around June or July I would guess. I wouldn't be surprised if a beta of 4.0 is released sooner though, maybe even on Thursday.

And it will likely be available to the iPod touch 2G and 3G, but we don't know for sure yet.

On the iPad, you can choose your own background because you can actually see the background. On the iPhone, you can't see the background unless you have one or two apps on the page.

@jonnyboywasheretoday No. Almost definitely not, it's a bad idea in general to update immediately no matter how cool of an update it is. Always hold back a few days until the Dev Team takes a look at it and figures out how easy it will be to jailbreak, etc.

@Kthip1 The only thing about multitasking for the iPhone and iPod Touch is that it will use a lot of of battery life. I use Backgrounder for multitasking on my jailbroken iPod Touch 2G and it uses a lot of battery life. However Apple should at least give you the option to multitask.

@daliborzunic We don't know for sure yet, but from what it sounds like 4.0 will be iPod touch 2G, 3G and the iPhone 3G and 3GS. At any rate, I would be surprised if you couldn't upgrade your 3GS.
