Awsome song!!! Firehouse and Cold Gin are my fav songs by KISS. This video's great to listen to but the cameras cutting back and forth gives me a headache. Did they think that was cool? It sucks! Ruins the song if your watching, don't watch just listen! : )

I was 8 years old in 1977 and "KISS"  was the first album I owned by them. Firehouse was my favorite Kiss song (and still is...the chicken' picken' guitar lead really hit a home run with me...). Ace Frehley inspired me to pick up guitar that year, and now I've been playing guitar for over 30 years thanks to him and the other KISS members...). Hats off to complete inspiration from one of the greatest rock bands on the planet...

I also watched this live and thought this was the coolest fucking band I had ever seen in my life. And from this point to 1978, they were! But once the greed kicked in and KISS became a merchandising, pop-bloated sack of bullshit, I lost interest. But it's nice to look back and remember what a bad-ass, potent, rock and roll band they WERE! Too bad it didn't last!

@marchofthehaymaker Actually they grew better as a band. This song is one of there weakness songs. Still a blues song, there guitar tone is very dry here. But like any band they grew big. Shoot them for being successful, the reality is that they got popular (is that a bad thing?) and success came. I wouldn't to be in a band and not grow, how in the hell am I going to fuckin' eat? By just strumming a few chords and watch a few people cheer for me?

they took this new york dolls idea and twisted it into the kiss show. i remember gene saying he was in the humble pie audience at filmore east. i think alice cooper was doing the same kind of stage theatre too. the nyd's became heroin addicts, i think one of them died.

From the debut LP. Even though Paul sings lead, I feel that this is also Gene's song, since he does his fire breathing act to it. For a while, he did it to War Machine. KISS was pretty much struggling then. I'm sure that this appearance helped them some. I heard that Gene did public service announcements warning children & teens not to try his fire breathing act at home. Too many were winding up in hospitals with severe burns trying to imitate him.

I saw Ace solo in July 1987 at The Boathouse in Norfolk, VA. He played Rip it Out & New York Groove from his 1978 LP. From KISS he played Shock Me (guitar solo), Cold Gin, Deuce, and ended with Rocket Ride. I wonder if KISS ever performed it live during the Alive II tour.

Sounds like ACE's guitar is ran through a compressor into the Marshalls. Same with Pauls voice.Hard to play in such a small venue, KISS is built for stadiums. Either way, they are the best.
