  • As far as the animation and movements goes, the colored version is incredible to be able to be as accurate as it is.

  • shadow art is better >.<"

  • Where's Cirno!?

  • i like both, but prefer the shadow one just because of how smooth it is in transitions, but the MMD version did great, especially when you consider how hard it must have been to get the timing that close.

  • I like both :D

  • I prefer the shadow one o.O

  • Wow so much effort in the shadow one but i like mmd version better because they have to be so precise. :D

  • i don´t know i preffer the black and white version, its better for me, the 3D version takes out the whole mystery

  • Shadow is totally better plus color messed up the way characters look

  • @nono61ify It's pretty good considering it was made in MMD (not the most sophisticated program). Oh, and the fact that it's a fan adaptation.

  • i honestly like the shadow art a little more. i dunno why. but don't get me wring. The colored one is also spectacular.

  • imo shadow is better

  • The shadow art allows for better transitions. That's the only pro I can see on my own.

  • The shadow one shows the characters thinner than the 3D model one. Anyone who likes the right one more than the left are chubby chasers.

  • i loved both, but i have to say, the shadow art seems more ... idk .. mysterious or something along those lines ...

  • thats really good! Im seriously impressed, but i like the shadow art the best

  • あなたは神ですか?

  • Wow. The 3D model one was incredibly well done.

  • 3D one thts colored is better!!!!!

  • To be honest I like Both.

  • pause at 3:36, it merged :D

  • When i saw the Phantom Ensemble, I instantly thought (Whoah, they made a band)

  • 1:36 would make a good poster haha well in the shadow art one

  • shadow side!!

  • Moarboobs on the left....

    .... Damnit.

  • Anyone noticed that most of the models looks like it's made from 3DCG?

  • @TophMedown I believe that a lot of the modellers who make Touhou models also make mods for that game

  • I like the shadow better. It's probably because the characters are less bulky and more detailed. The shadow side is also more smooth in motion. Despite that I love them both -vv-

  • i prefer the the shadow

  • The shadow side in the beginning was she backward?

  • Horrible --

  • people need to stop complaing that the 3D isnt "good" or "choppy" it was made with MMD Miku Miku Dance and it is VERY hard to use and its a amateur program not a pro program and I would like to see any of you do better, this probably took them months to do.

i would know I have Miku Miku Dance.

  • Is this a anime?

  • @PhantomhiveLuv2u nope, look on Wikipedia

  • The black & white is better

  • I have almost all these MikuMikuDance models *w*

  • i prefer the black and white one

  • flandre animation was horrible >:( but atleast mundo goes where he pleased

  • Satori? Orin? TToTT... but at least they got Flandre, Suwako, Moukou, and Hina XDDD

  • Cirno? TT______TT

  • @angelssadsong nope, a japanese artiste, のみこ (nomico)

  • 0:55 lol

  • too much free time

  • I really like this! The animation was done very well!

  • i prefer the black and white one just because there is more mystery to it , but he anime 3d one was good also

  • it is so awesome i liked so much ^^

  • 1:51 GIANT BAND

  • @demonface96 Not only that but the insturments they play don't match the music :D

  • 0:23 WTF!?

  • a few things off but who cares there both AWESOME!!!

  • hoi @lindaluararakel XD WAAUUUUUUUWWW<3_____<3

    IloveIT(L)

  • beautiful made!!!!! i love manga!!!

  • The MMD version was extremely well done. The trolls that are all "oh that ribbon's not supposed to be there" or "they did that hand movement wrong" need to just shut up. If you think you can do it better, than by all means make one yourself. I'm sure you'll get criticized on yours as well. I'm sure MMD users can really appreciate this, considering the time and patience it took to get it as close to the shadow art version as is possible with the program. Again, awesome!

  • there was a couple of mistakes but i know mmd can't look exactly like the shadow art so its ok

  • *does the robot at 3:07*

  • I think the 3D ver would have been better if 1, he turned physics off and edited manually (it takes work, but the result is far superior) and 2, if he had used the same kind of models.

  • Amazing!

  • se ve mucho mejor en el min. 0:56 en blanco y negro xD

de ahi lo demas esta bn (y) <3

  • they're both great. but in some situations, the black and white is better

  • ... now play this video for 10 hours...

  • The spining Yin Yang sybol as double made me dixxy! xD

  • DOESN'T MATTER I still love the smile......

  • SHADOWS WINS XD

  • flandre looks insane in the shadow one

  • Whoa...is it just me, or does Remilia look really masculine and buff in the MMD version? :S

  • Y的

    就某方面來說這也是神作了

  • Both versions are great. I prefer the Shadow Art only because the morphing there works better.

  • 0:56

the one on the left freaks me out the most O.o

  • @LittleMissMadHatter1 thats only natural humans are naturally more fearful of dark colours.

  • @LoveNoteProjects

No, it's not that. It's that you can see her craziness much better and the color CHANGE really pops our at you :D

  • @LittleMissMadHatter1 colour? what freakin colour? its black and white!

  • @LoveNoteProjects

    ~sigh~

Geez, can you not get it? I'm saying that by going from a white bg to a black one, THAT'S the color change. And by 'color' I mean white and black (cuz I'm not going to get technical and say that they aren't real colors) When the girl is black with a white bg, she doesn't shoot out at you as much as she does when the colors are *inverted*.

    There. Get it now?

  • Shadow is better <3

  • Thanks a bunch!!!! I really wanted to know who the characters were!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!

  • cool! but some models dont correspond to whichever they are in black and white. but still really awesome!

  • @fankyfashionmonkey do note the models in mmd were not designed to look anything like the ones on the bad apple vid in the first place. rather what the creator feels that the character should look like in mmd. ppl should really do more research before running their mouths like this.

  • im seeing double...

  • Look more epic in black and white

  • Black and white WiNs!!!!!

  • 0:55 Evil face better in black and white

  • I truely respect the model creator and animator of the 3D one...that most have been a hell lot of work to get everything so perfect and timed right...Who cares about some freaking minor details... Respect you guys, Awesome.

  • I prefer Shadow art. ^^

  • Assuming I'm the least informed person on the world (which I am) about the program Miku Miku Dance, does anyone have any tips or explanations about how to use it? Honestly it looks like an amazing program I'd love to know how to use it (-: Thx!

  • I guess Suwako's eyes (2:17) can't be fixed

  • i prefer the shadow one :3

  • I dunno...no matter which colored version of this I see, it seems to lose something compared to mono-chrome origins. Some things (also, the Three Stooges) just aren't better in color. I just think it ruins so many of the transitions, especially the one starting at 1:58. I don't even take off the herky-jerky movements inherent in CG works. This is just one of those things that was already perfect in it's original form.

  • It's practically impossible to get 3D Models to look exactly like Shadow art, as far is this video goes, it was done incredibly

  • @Alexkazam0o0 You are correct! :) The 3D models were animated to move in MikuMikuDance, which is really more of a posing/animation program as compared to the Shadow Art, which were likely to have been made in either 3DStudioMax or Maya, professional 3D modeling software. It is hence already pretty significant that the fan who made the MMD version managed to get it down to a level of accuracy as shown above (notwithstanding some timing issues that I tried my best to correct).

  • There's so many big difference between them,

    For simple at 0:24 , 0:49 , 0:51 , 1:03 , 1:29 , 1:46 , 2:06 , 2:13 , 2:37 , 2:44

Maybe there's more, but these all what I've seen the differences between the Shadow Art, and the 3D Animation

  • the 3D animation was made on a very amateur animation program and mostly was made by just a fan. Give him some credit. By the way the program is called MikuMikuDance.

  • Hmm.. shouldn't it be Iku at about 2:30, facing Tenshi? Yukari is there instead, but she aready appeared. In this video, only Marisa and Reimu were repeated (Keine's forms were at the same moment, so she doesn't count as being repeated.).

Iku does have the bow on her head, the hat, and the poofy sleeves, but Yukari does too in her purple short-sleeved dress..... I wonder who was really supposed to be in that scene with Tenshi?

All hail to Iku, since she makes more sense.

  • @MistPower101 It is indeed arguable. Fan contention abounds, for example, I mentioned earlier that the spinning Sakuya entrance was intepreted by some fans as Rumia (because the 'arms outstretched pose' is somewhat of a signature for her) and only morphing into Sakuya at the end. It is likely that only the creator of the original Shadow Art video knows of his/her intention with these segments though.

  • @awnglier I agree ^^ However, at 0:44, there appears to be part of a bow on the back of the spinning figure, which Sakuya does have on her outfit, but I'm doubting that Rumia has one.

  • @MistPower101 A fair point, although you may have forgotten about the sealing ribbon that Rumia has on her head... From that angle, it's impossible to see if it belongs on her back or her head... and the tiny size of it relative to Sakuya's back bow makes a strong argument that it's a ribbon. :)

  • @awnglier Ah, true. I hadn't considered that. Another thing to think about are the bracelets/gloves you can see on the figure; They appear frilly, like Sakuya's gloves, but they could also be the band at the end of Rumia's sleeves, even though hers aren't frilly or lacey, I don't think.

This really has me thinking :) If Rumia is in this video, I wonder if Cirno is, after all, for a split second or two? I doubt it, but if someone were to look closely, they may find something.

  • GOOO 3D

  • black and white better, no.1 cuz its original, no.2 because the reason why they put it in black and white because there is a lot of meaning, for example, the Ying and the Yang, as we know that. apple is bad, from snow white and adam and eve, they put the apple as the black dot in the Ying to show meanings, im not a good explainer but that was my explanation, im not good at this stuff :P but i tried

  • blackand white better

  • Patchuoli is not moving more than the SHADOW im with the SHADOW 100%

  • shadow 100%...

  • I love both versions, but the Shadowart is a little bit better....<3

    :3

  • Let me just sort this out by saying: 3D animation is hard to make and can end up with unwanted results, and these are actually very faithful to the original characters (except for Eirin, in my opinion). The end.

  • who is the girl at @1:12 ??

  • @dejikololo Komachi Onozuka, the laziest Ferryman of the Dead.

  • Are all these characters from some kind of shooting video game? I tried to look it up but it was too confusing.

  • @ajmjakforeva The Touhou Project, also known as Toho Project or Project Shrine Maiden, is a Japanese doujin game series focused on bullet hell shooters. The original games made by ZUN, there have since been many, many different spinoffs, from Japanese MADs, other doujin games and various web animations of varying quality.

  • Anyone else notice that Remilia's bow's on different sides?

  • I must say, There are some mistakes in the 3-D version aside from the Black and White version. But they are also great, almost alike or not alike.I think its the music that matters.

  • I like them both. I bet the 3D version was really hard to make.

  • thats hard to pick between...

    idk

  • The 3D models are not good some times. But, merging all that moves together sure does cost alot of work, so ... Hands up. Maybe

  • I think that Shikieki and Sakuya are the most accurate ones.

  • The shadow art is better. Hands down.

  • it's not really the same, but it's not bad either.... but i'm still more for the original :3

  • lo de 3d no me gusto... pero lo otro es muchisimo mejor porque encima creo que es el original

  • Who else was singing along? ^_^

  • Shadow Art is better, who agreed with me?

  • Some of them are a bit off, most noticeably at 3:06 but otherwise... absolutely awesome o-o

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Mordor!!^^

  • I like the shadow art more :3

  • i thought At 0:37 remilia has a blonde hair or grey hair i forgot

  • @DusTyFied1 Remi has light-blue hair, Flan's the one with the blonde locks. Sakuya has grey-silver hair. :)

  • Who's the girl at 0:48?

  • @Pokejoseph1 Sakuya Izayoi, Maidservant of the Scarlet Sisters.

  • Also, who's the girl spinning a sword?

  • @TasikeTheNinja The one conjuring flames from both hands? Fujiwara no Mokou (commonly referred to as Mokou). Bitter rivals with fellow immortal Kaguya Houraisan.

Also, spinning sword girl is Youmu Konpaku, half-human, half-ghost hybrid, bodyguard of the ghost princess Yuyuko Saigyouji.

  • Who's the girl at 1:24?

  • does these girls actually belong into some anime ?

  • @ookami6neko8torako they r from touhou... a game... the anime version one is just fan made

  • i like the shadow play better, but i must say, the original colored one brings out the best in the characters...in my opinion, that is.

  • Why are all the models.. Fat..?

  • @Kitahstrofy Well real people aren't exactly sleek y'know.

Also have you seen the game art? Chubby faces everywhereeee :3

  • @Mespritroth Uh. Yeah. Being fat doesnt mean you're more -real- than others. Thats just pig-headed, no pun intended.

The models should at least -try- to look like the shadow art. Some of the models on here, are just.. OBESE..

  • @Kitahstrofy Jesus fucking christ, obese? O_o If there are any obese characters in this to you, then your idea of an average girl must be anorexic. If you actually opened your eyes and looked at the game art, the colour version is pretty accurate in terms of the games.

  • @Mespritroth IDGAF about game art O_o it should match the shadow art. If the girls in the shadow art are normal. So should be the 3d models.

At least my idea of an average girl isnt a FUCKIN HIPPO.

  • @Kitahstrofy I see no hippo-sized girl in this video. You're looking at them in terms of the shadow art and them. If you actually knew what real girls looked like, you'd realise the shadow art girls are really skinny and the other girls are quite normal in terms of weight.

  • @Mespritroth I know what they look like. I've seen enough hentai to know that they arent fat. The shadow art is way better.

  • @Kitahstrofy One minute you say they're obese, then hippo-sized, and now you say they aren't fat and you look at hentai? What the hell.

At least you composed a decent comment this time though.

  • @Mespritroth Correction. I said the 3D models are obese and hippo-sized. The shadow art is fine.

  • @Kitahstrofy And I'll say it again, your version of a girl has serious weight problems if you think that the 3D models are obese and the shadow art is fine... god know what skinny is to you...

  • @Mespritroth Actually no. it isnt. I appreciate curves. But the breasts and hips and shit are disproportionate.

I actually struggled with my weight, I wasnt able to gain weight no matter how much I ate and almost died due to it. Skinny has a whole different meaning to me, and I prefer curvey women. The models look awkward, fat, and disproportionate.

Thats cool that you think you can speak for me though.

  • @Mespritroth Like at 2:17. The model looks awkward.

  • @Kitahstrofy Name please. 'The model' doesn't tell me anything.

If you mean the left one with blue hair (Kanako), that's her body shape, she's an old-looking goddess, the shadow art doesn't really have the right body shape for her; she looks too young.

  • @Mespritroth I dont know any of there fucking names. And I dont give a shit what they are. I know what they're supposed to look like. And the models make them look fat. As a chubcake yourself, I suppose you dont see any different between their abnormal shapes and yours.

    But us normal-shaped women do.

  • @Kitahstrofy Exactly. You don't know who they are or how they're supposed to look. So you can't say fuck all. You just rendered all your comments invalid bro.

  • I think the shadow art is better

  • the good thing about the 3d model is that i can see the actual design of those cuties ^^

oh, and also love the expressions. we can't see any facial expression in the BW edition

  • the black annd whit look'd more real in the movement

  • i loved the shadow haha it was better looking to me, and made the morphing objects remain a mystery until they were completely made up

  • Who is the girl with the scythe? I always wondered but I never was able to figure out her name. Thanks in advance. :)

  • @AlexisDarkgiver Actually, there are two girls with scythes. The one in the boat is Komachi Onozuka, Ferryman of the Dead. The one with the hat is Elly.

  • @awnglier I've never seen elly in the games, which touhou game is she from.

  • @Spirit70Dark Elly comes from the PC-98 era of games. The fourth Touhou game, Lotus Land Story. She's one of the stage bosses, but I can't remember which.

  • I like the shadow art better.~ The MMD was good but they didn't really look like what I imagened the shadow images to look like.

  • The MMD models are very much well done but the shadow art keeps you more inerested because everthing is much more like you have more freedom to imagine what the people acctualy look like,But the MMD is still very well done.Although for me i like the shadow art better.

  • I vote for 2A. and in 3D is different from the original in many points

  • there both so cool XD and now im totally in love with this song ^^

  • i love both!! X3

  • 1. I think Shadow-Art is the best

    2. 3D models are fat...

    hmm... that's all ^.^

  • shadow is da pro but it was cool seeing the characters in real colors and detail.

  • shadow art ftw :D

  • Shadows wins.....

  • i like the shadows...the forming loks like it's atcully forming into the next objects.you Know, the 3D version is colored and the color changes into the next objects colos,Know what i'm saying?

  • whos the girl at the beginning?

  • @georgilo1997

Shes Reimu Hakurei, the main character in most of the Touhou series.

  • In the colred version, the most fluid and similar part to the shadow one is Tenshi part

  • I still like the shadow version more, it seems like it is real people doing it. But it's good to see who are the characters behind those shadows. I don't know any Touhou project characters, but I'm pretty shocked to know all of it are girls. Overall, I love both version and Bad Apple rocks forever!! :)

  • 1 side jap version the other side eng version that's my idea

  • I LIKE ENGLISH VERSION PLEASE!...

  • Shadow charaters all the way owo they look more fluid in their motions and relaxed. But bravo on the 3d one ^^b
