Graphic novels usually exegerate events,turn them more into fiction,movies do the same.

This isnt a historical epic,its an action movie basicly.

Resemblence between the actual battle and 300 is the same as between the actual Thor and Marvels Thor.

Not to be an asshole but noone seems to mention that about 7000 people from athens were also there and at that time Greece was barely a country. In fact, it was a place many small nations fought for, an if it wasn't for the Athenians the persians probably would've broken through.

So, yes, Sparta was great, but Greece wasn't part of the equation and if it wasn't for the athenians the attack wouldn't have happened in the first place but thats another story...

The Roman's fighting style was different for the Greeks, and far superior, designed to take down a phalanx. There are many reasons why Rome fell to the Huns and Barbarians, but one of them was because they had not had a large war in a long time, and so feel out of training and lost their touch. Although some would argue that Macedon was not a part of Greece, Alexander was known to declare himself Greek. Both nations had their spot in the sun and then fell, but Rome is still little more than a copy cat.

Lets see, the Spartans fought in a hoplite phalanx with a large round shield with a dory and xiphos, while standing in a rigid formation, while the Romans had a square shield with a gladius and small dagger before the reforms. Only one unit even had spears, the tirarii, and they DIDN'T fight in phalanx. Try again.

His ancestors were Greek, he declared himself Greek, he was educated by Greeks. I think the greeks were more moble because of the light armor. BUT.... I understand what you say about the differences in two armies and their way of staging warfare. But you can't say that Rome was a better empire simply because you like their phalanx better.
