  • SUE is one of the progmetal bands I really love, I like how they sound more like Symphony X than Dream Theater

  • Esta canción me recuerda a "Smoke and Mirrors" de "Symphony x.

  • Thought all was well until the vocals. Absolute crap.

  • Their best song IMO: /watch?v=45NiD461eO0

  • This guy kind of reminds me of Vision Divine's vocalist. Can't remember his name.

  • Why the fuck doesn't this have more views?

  • Anyone who likes this go check out the band Haken. They are going to be the next dream theater.

  • This is one of the best prog metal bands I know. And I know quite a few.

  • C'est des FRANÇAIS aha <3

  • guys check out Zero Hour - The Towers of Avarice

  • @acidbath32 That's a great album.

  • Band - Epic

    Vocals - Fail

  • damn..........i love the band, and they play awesome!! great instrumental!! but i hate the vocalist ;(

  • Agreed

  • It's a really cool and original song; I love the beginning especially.

  • other good prog band is liquid tension experiment. is an dream theater project

  • I Like S.U.E. :3

but i prefer Dream Theater :D

S.U.E. have a lot of strongs chorus! i love their chorus!

  • :D Friend this song is too far to Dream Theater style..;) DT are the best in the world!there is anyone who is au pair than DT!;)

  • Yeah... you clearly don't listen to a lot of prog metal.

  • DT are not the best - they are only best known because they started it all; and perhaps just jumpstarted it, to be more exact. They inspired many others to be more precise and versatile on their instruments. That's were it ends. Hardly anyone today is getting inspired by them anymore from what they play now. These guys, in my view, are slaughtering DT. This is phenomenal music. Besides- there is Planet X, and that's a pinnacle of what prog is today- that's one man's opinion. Planet X rules, man.

  • exactly the reason i don't find megadeth, metallica, slayer, or anthrax to be "the best"... bollocks...

  • agree 100%. Did you try Blotted Science? Ron Jarzombek and his buddies kick ass on that one. Sick stuff.

  • if my memory serves me correctly, isn't that the instrumental band? the real technical/progressive one.

  • and very, very aggressive. And in all of this, quite melodic as well. Shocking experience.

  • bollocks, have to go check them out again...

  • Damn this type of music is nice.. can anyone tell me what it is called? sound like a mix between heavy metal trance and classic... (som of their tracks)

  • It's progressive metal

  • If you like it, try to listen Dream Theater, Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Circus Maximus, Andromeda... It's good, VERY GOOD! ^^

  • You nailed those suggestions!

  • @TheWhiteCrow19 love those bands you mentioned.. don't forget adagio too :)

  • @TheWhiteCrow19 It's just the fifth band I love !! :D

Try Redemption or Fates Warning, too

  • @TheWhiteCrow19 Anubis Gate is another good one.

  • usually they would call this like progressive metal

  • Uh. Progressive Metal. Haha. Not Heavy Metal Trance.

  • This type of music is called 'Progressive Metal'.

If you like this kind of songs, you should listen 'Phenomenon', 'Light & Space' and 'Ravages of time' by Treshold ^_~

  • Lol funny, first time I've seen somebody use Threshold (btw you spelled it wrong) to define what prog metal sounds like, but good set of songs. I'd probably have picked Slipstream instead of Phenomenon though, but that's just personal taste.

  • Oh, yeah, I forgot the 'h' :D

You're right, Slipstream is quite cool but I like the live version much more than the version on the Cd :)

  • I have about 5 Threshold cd's, and while I like them allright, it's not all that hot like, let's say, this or other similar bands. I even find some hick ups there due to what I think might be some limitations on Threshold's personnel skills - but some might disagree with me. It's just what I think and fell when I listen to their music. But I still like them. Some of the pieces are quite good - others are outright lame. They sure are different, though.

  • Yes, well I don't think anybody here suggested Threshold was the apex of prog metal; I like them for the most part, just like I like lots of prog metal bands and projects, including SUE, DT, DT (lol), DS, SX, PM, Ayreon, and many others.

My favorite band is PoS since I find them to be the most consistently original and different - both from other bands and from their previous work.

But then my favorite album for example is BtToS by Disillusion.

  • Just curious because right now I suffer from heavy brain fart: Who is BtToS or PoS? If I'll find out I know them, it's OK, but if don't, I sure would like to try them. Thanks

  • Spheric Universe Experience

    Dream Theater

    Devin Townsend

    Symphony X

    Pagan's Mind

    > Pain of Salvation

    > Back to Times of Splendor (album) by Disillusion (band)

  • Oh and DS was Dreamscape

  • OK. Thanks. Knew all except the Disillusion and Dreamscape. Will look them up. PoS - I have 3 or 4 cd's, definitively original, with interesting projects but if there is an extremely liberal or ultraleft political band, it's them. Their agenda screams at me through their lyrics so bad I won't listen to them anymore. It's scary to realize that there are cocoos outthere who can through OK music shift normal people to the extreme left way of thinking. For me, anything but leftists.

  • @micanut48 " Heavy Brain Fart" - Form a band immediatly, this is its name.

  • @CyanideSovereign no shit... You came up with the name, you own it...

  • @moneymail002 I know this is from 2 years ago (lol) but if you're gonna list THAT MANY bands, say the names. Don't be so lazy :D

  • Honestly, I LOVE S.U.E., but I'm not sure what they were doing with this song. All of their great melody writing skills and unique sound are just gone in this song. They just sound like a generic Symphony X/Dream Theater band. Piano near the end sounds exactly like something off of Train of Thought. Singer really regressed on this album... not sure why. I like some of Anima, but songs like this one just don't work for me. Sounds nothing like the same band from "Mental Torments."

  • Damn. Singer kind of ruins it for me. Otherwise this is pretty damn nice.

  • it's such a pain in the ass to say the name of this band hahaha

  • just heard of this band's name so checked them out. they're awesome!

  • I love this band shitloads. Was actually able to pick up both Mental Torments and Anima....Enjoyed every friggin second of both.

  • i guess they are touched by Dream Theater;

they are very good.. thanks for posting

  • I came here by accident. The singer is very good and the music is interesting. Just great.

  • Wow! this is the first time I hear them! They're awesome!

  • great but the solo and some riffs sound like symphony x

  • symphony x is one of their influences.

    go look at their myspace.

  • SUE is quite good for the most part. I'm not real crazy about their singer, and their music has a relentlessly constant rythm that gets annoying after a while, especially with the bass drum going almost constantly. Excellent guitar and keyboard work.

  • this band has a much harder sound than most prog metal bands and thats what i like about them. they kick ass.

  • I thought this was the band Sceptic first, Still a great band though

  • This is one of the best PowerProg metal band in the world...

  • just discovered this band, and i am starting to think, 'thank **** for that...'

  • Nice, sounds a bit like Symphony X

  • james labrie is the best progrock singer ! look in learning to live ( 6:59 )

  • yeah!!!

  • Rulz =)
