  • Clean Coal? What an oxymoron. It doesn't exist and is just a pipe dream.

  • wow the last time i checked global warming is a natural cycle. the sooner you damn liberals get that through your thick head the sooner the US can get back to focusing on big problems.

  • my town of libertyville just built one of those wind towers

  • I think she's great.

  • Uggh, this video sucked. It basically said, "clean coal looks scientific, but it's bullshit because of common sense, and this video clip has another random guy who says so." I'm sorry, but such simplistic pessimism does little to convince, wheras the "scientific looking stuff" goes a long way towards convincing me that we should focus on clean coal. Obama has always talked about a multi-pronged environmental policy, and I see no reason why clean-coal should be catagorically removed from it.

  • Clean Coal technology was coined by its biggest promoter, future technology magazines doing expose's on "forward thinking clean energy solutions," including such ditties as an electrically powered CO2 harvester. PLANT TREES YOU IDIOTS.

I'm m/v_Daedalus, and I translate technical jargon so that you can get pissed.

  • Coal is toxic.

"Clean coal technology" translates into washing out enough of the bad stuff for it not to be as bad in a way that can't be easily understood. Its all nonsense. Clean coal technology is just on site manufacturing of methane from coal using steam. Not only are you polluting water but you are creating the potential to inject trace amounts of the worst greenhouse gas ever on a large enough scale for it to matter no matter how "trace" in the best delivery method possible, steam.

  • With the two-party system, for Obama to be elected he needed to cater swing voters. That means ignore promises to Progressives.

Now, what we need is an intelligent population that debates issues... and a more diverse party system. Or just no party system. Maybe convert our Congress into a Parliamentary system. Because dividing all views into just two options is a little... broad.

  • "Cleaner" coal technology?

  • Truly. When your kid plays in coal, you wash his/her ass and tell him/her not to play in coal. Because it's the opposite of clean.

  • I don't think 'clean coal' is such bad jargon in terms of furthering the debate. It's nice and clear.

    Example:

Person 1: Is there such thing as 'clean coal'?

    Person 2: No.

Person 1: Well, if they ever find some then get back to us.

    Person 2: Okay.

The -term- actually simplifies the debate.

  • Since when did we expect politicians to tell the truth, come on get real Obama also talked about sindfall taxes on oil profiteers but he flip flopped on that too and hes not even in office yet, Obama isnt a messiah he is a politician they tell stupid people what they want to hear .

  • I used to like operation itch until you started pushing the central bankers global carbon taxation fraud. Pretty sad how intelligent people get conned by this behavioral psychology infused propaganda. So many real environmental issues that need attention but I guess that will have to wait until the corporate media stops perpetuating their climate change bullshit world wide. In the UK, farmers are now being taxed for every animal they own to cancel out the co2 the animals fart out.

  • Uh hippys I think China builds two coal plants a week. We use coal for about 50% of our power and electric cars will only increase demand. If they can make a cleaner coal technology it might be good.

  • We are coming into the endtimes. We tend to over-think things as humans.

  • Clean coal is a ficticious as Saddam having something to do with 9/11 and Sarah Palin's experience. None existant.

  • kinda low energy from "the girl" (no pun intended...) but good message. Hope it gets better... But fix the audio please! Every video editing software out there allows to normalize audio pretty easily...

  • I wish every video maker would read your comment.

  • haha, Fleetwood looks like a 12 year old Nazi.

  • Another good non-Hermit vid. Keep these type of ones coming!

  • I get the feeling that shit is really going to hit the fan in the next four years. one of three things will likely happen as president obama faces the catastrophe in office, 1 he'll completly fuck up and go down as the worst president ever 2 he'll find logical and rational solutions and set in motion a much needed recovery for this country or 3 Nothing will change just like the 43 pres b4 him, no pres has ever been a superhero or magician who flips his cape or waves a wand and fixes everything.

  • if we look at the energy crisis, logically the only way we'll solve our energy crisis with a clean solution is to use more nuclear energy until the money and technology for geo thermal power exists. but using coal isn't bad because global warming is unlikely cause by us. there is no scientific way to prove that there is a crisis when it comes to global warming. people are worried over a possibility that we could be ruining our planet and people like al gore are making money off the panic.

  • "We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind."

  • There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

  • the above petition has been signed by over 31,000 American scientists.

  • The solution is simple, folks. Find the breaker panel for your house and turn off the main breaker. STOP using more frickin' electric power than this country is capable of producing, and given time, clean power technology might actually catch up.

You don't wave a magic wand and suddenly clean up coal and petroleum and nuclear power plants. And you sure as Hell don't shut them down, either. Not until YOU are ready to stop using electricity. Are you ready?.....

  • But how will you be able to post a comment?

  • Well, assuming that you're watching YouTube by candlelight, you'd have to write the comment with a pencil and mail it in.

  • Are you ready to stop using youtube? if you are, I am willing to hand write letters to you in the future about this. Let me know...

  • I'm not especially ready to, no, but I would if I had to. My point is directed at all the complainers who are blaming Obama and everyone else on the planet OTHER than themselves. They're demanding that the gpovernment wave a wand and magically create a plethora of clean energy, when it's flatly not possible to keep up with our current power demands using EVERY existing energy source we already have available.

  • If more people thought like you do, it would indeed be a better planet. I liv out in the woods and whenever a storm (like the ones we've recently had) we loose water and electricity. Infact, Christmas this year was a poor one for us and we only observed the holiday for what it really means. But we had no electricity and it was a sweet and cozy holiday for us. Happy New Year. Sorry if I sound like a crabby old lady.

  • S'ok. I can sound like a crabby old man now and then, too. :-)

  • what is os clean about burning coal just digging for coal can kill in the long term

  • Did anyone really think Obama was going to be different than the previous 43 men to occupy the oval? If you did you are delusional. Obama won because he was better than the other guy, not because he was the best for the job.

  • I agree that "Clean Coal" sounds and most likely is bullshit...

However, I don't share her cynicism. I think Obama DOES plan to push for solar and wind as much as possible. But the reality is that our technology in those departments aren't where we need them yet. I feel they WILL get funded and pushed to get to that level.

MEANWHILE, we have to do SOMETHING to separate from the Middle East and their oil. Whether that's drilling off-shore or using coal, SOMETHING has to be done.

  • I think we have to establish what is meant by clean coal.

Now I'll admit I've not heard much about clean coal . . beyond its name. I was under the assumption that meant clean. Apparently, just cleaner. The website that this video's ads link to states that it's 70% more efficient . . is that what they are referring to, and your just stating that isn't good enough and it's really clean? If so I agree with you fully.

  • Why would we want to blow up countries with coal? The USA has more coal than any country on the planet.

  • Obviously clean coal doesn't exist, coal = carbon and carbon = global warming. However wind and solar aren't enough to power the country. Nuclear energy is the way to go. And if you don't believe me on that, get everyone together who hates clean coal and pool your money and open a power company that uses solar and wind energy. Be the change.

  • My science prof said that clean coal is all about storing the carbon dioxide that burned off and about not releasing it into the atmosphere. My question is Where does it go then? I definitely think wind, solar, and tidal are the ways to go to make a more sustainable future.

  • i would love wind and solar in ohio i just dont know what to do to help get it here

  • There are zero emmisions coal fired powerstations.

If you against it, then stop driving your car hypocrit. That is worse

  • I'd only believe in clean coal if there was some kind of super-air-filter that was paraded around. Otherwise, the clean coal ad seems to be an attempt to placate people.

  • geothermal.for your edification go watch all the addendums to zeitgeist. Its better than the first set.

  • dude, at least wait until he gets elected and do something to start hating...goshhh..

  • I like here better than the other peeps. Less bullshit and more information.

  • mia paper planes ftw!

  • yeah cept that the record has been out for almost a year and NOW people are finally catching on and jumping on the bandwagon bc it was used in some movie trailer...ugh. these people are not real m.i.a. fans.

  • I have looked at some data on Coal Gassification, which is being used for power in several states, and it seems that Coal Gassification reduces emissions considerably.

In Idaho, wind is becoming a huge source of energy . . .

  • Is an one else getting the clean coal ad telling the lie that there is such a thing as clean coal. Or am I the only one?

    Any way, Irony.

  • topoglaphicaly?

  • you can create 5 millon jobs with clean energy.

clean coal is for stupid people that live close to coal to vote for somebody.

guys, if clean coal was not "use" in the campaing you would have old granpa mccain and his sidekick miss alaska 1974.

and the world will continue to suffer the estupidity of american voters.

i love clean coal, if it is "used" to get qualified and intelligent people in office that elected previously a recovered drunk with a dodging past and no iq whatsoever.

    cheers

  • I seriously doubt that if Obama had campaigned on solely a platform of green and renewable energy that McCain would have ended up in office.

  • Lol. Good video!

I laughed when I saw the title...I was like...oh my god, he's lost it, he thinks he's a girl now. lol.

  • good video, I disagree with burning coal too, however, I think global warming is a scam, Just like our future President is a scam artist. I'm surprised he isn't one of George Bush Senior's kids. God help us all, America, get read for another round of the soap drop shuffle.

  • We should use nuclear energy. It's almost free... Solar / wind work also. We have a lot of coal in the US, so it is a viable alternative, but again it's also 2008, and the ozone layer is getting thinner... I don't want these river killers polluting my neighborhood. I'd rather take the nuclear risk if given a choice. With our government's track record though, that might be a bad idea too. Why is our government such a corporate bitch anyway?

  • God-damnit, they got ALL you people fighting coal for the wrong reason. Global warming is still debatable, coal is dirty in plenty of other ways, and you should be focused on the mercury poisoning going on, not the damn CO2. You might actually swing some of those republicans who care about the environment, but still think global warming is a scam for taxes.

  • Pretty good. love the mr rodgers aspect!

  • Good video

    Clean Coal is a joke.

Btw this may just be me but the link to her youtube in the sidebar isn't working for me

  • with all the hot air these let out should be enough "clean" wind to power the world

  • We are not supposed to know about this

They are going to tap our phones

Things like Mountain top removal & no clean coal...

uh oh, we are not supposed to spread the word, they are going to get mad at us...

    Those USA Patriot act zombies..

  • Comment removed

  • obama is dreamy when he tells me sweet lies.

  • Barack is "such a Fraud" to expect us to 'Believe' in Clean Coal technology.

There is NO Such Thing as "Clean Coal!"

Solar, Wind and Water (Hydro) IS Clean!

Get with the REAL Program Barack...stop faking!

  • It is obvious that the global fossil fuel industries, owned by the worlds central bankers, are MORE than willing to absolutely DESTROY all of life on EARTH in order to keep their stranglehold on money and POWER.

This very industry has CRUSHED new technologies for cheap & nonpolluting energy sources. They have bought out patents & have even murdered scientists & independant researchers who have discovered alternative energy resources that could SAVE the planet.

FILTHY GREED!! It will KILL us.

  • **have even murdered scientists**

Good job discrediting yourself. Maybe you should capitalize more random words about it.

  • You know not of which you speak.

You are laboring under a misconception.

Try investigating. The web is still there for your searches.

Don't tell the families of those murdered because they found invovations in science that the bankers wanted surpressed that their deaths didn't happen. What an ignorant insult!

You obviously CHOOSE to remain blind.

Do yourself and those around you a favor, CRACK A BOOK!

  • I see. This moutain of internet evidence would be enough to secure convictions non?

Show me even one instance where a scientist dreamed up a way to create clean energy but was subsequently beaten to death with cheque books by an angry pack of the ambiguously titled Bankers.

Major corporations barely have to engage in disinformation when its own opponents discredit themselves with fringe conspiracy theories instead of sticking to reality.

Some advise. Do like this video and stick to the facts.
