As much as it kills me that Blink broke up, I have to give the guy credit as a musician to leave what I think of as one of the greatest bands of all time and pursue an artistic dream he's had for a while (even if most people don't think it's nearly as good). And once you've made it that big, I guess you have to the freedom to do whatever the hell you want. All good things come to an end.

First of all, yes, everything comes to an end. Secondly, no one needs to be cheered up (I refer you to the 5 stages of grieving), they miss a great band that has been around for 12 years. I think understanding that everything has to end makes you appreciate it more while it's here, rather than taking it for granted. You're definitely right in saying that new good things will come around, but one can still be nostalgic.
