  • What's the history on the HMS Calypso and the Briton? I am interested in learning about both them. Thanks

  • nice video and I see somebody is restoring a 'calypso' not this I think...well, you newfies have a good summer !

  • She was a fine looking 3rd class cruiser or corvette built in 1883. She was from the transitional time between sail and steam and iron and steel warships. Google image her and see what she looked like in better times. She was retired from Naval service in the 50's and was a barge for many years before being left to rot.

  • looks cool, how long was it there for?

  • Garry think the ship was there for 100 years but I know more about it than him. The Ship was created back around in the year 1850-1900, I can't remember when it was made. It was a world war 2 ship, then it docked in St. Johns of Newfoundland, Then it came into Lewisporte of Newfoundland. 40 years ago it got old and useless so they drive the ship in Embree of Newfoundland to set a time bomb on the ship so people will have time to leave. The ship blew into two pieces and it started to rust away.

  • thanks for telling me, that sounds cool
