  • Quicksand isn't necessarily sand, in fact, its most often mud. All it takes is a granial material (sand or dirt applies), water, and, most importantly, salt. This material could've been produced by the construction site: a half-quicksand mixture.

  • Yes, there really is such a thing as quicksand. Though, the location depicted in the video looks more like mud than sand. (There is a difference.) As jeehan (above) has stated, all you need to do to extrictae yourself from such a situation is lie on your belly or back. This redistributes your weight.
