  • Yes, very nicely done.

Our chorus participated at a Memorial Day ceremony at the Marblehead Yacht Club and afterwards toured the cemetary.

To me, this is very hallowed ground and reading all the tombstones of who young soldiers who never see their loved ones again, makes for a very somber and reverent setting.

The bitter cold took it's toll on these young men and I think most passed away from Pneumonia and fever.

From what I have been able to read, these Confederates were treated respectfully.

  • @66gardener Thank you. And you're right...this is hallowed ground. If you ever get a chance, make a visit in winter after a snowfall.

America healed after the war. Vets from the North & South had grand reunions back in Gettysburg on the 50th & 75th anniversaries of the battle. There are videos of both...you'll be amazed.

  • Great! thank you!

  • What is the song playing?

  • @badchuckie - "The Battle Cry of Freedom" from the soundtrack of the PBS series "The Civil War - A Ken Burns Film". The CD is easy to find, and even your library probably has it. They would probably have the DVD too. It's awesome.

  • Very respectful presentation!

  • @badchuckie - Thanks. That's what I wanted to do. The solitude of the place gets your mind to thinking, especially about the "unknowns". So sad.
