oh and to put the travel limiters on use small pieces of fuel tube and split them length ways and they will pop right on the shock shafts with out any disassemble at all...
those tires are NOT really sticky....in fact those tires blow goats....get some rovers and it will be the best thing you ever did for your mini...period...
In layman's terms, there's almost nothing left stock from the original truck you spent over $200 to set up. Modding a Losi is near pointless, they are better stock them 95% of people are capable of driving them...
Liked the video, however next time you make one, you might want to ask the dweeb in the background to shut his pie-hole long enough for you to finish recording. It's very distracting!!
Did you glue the tires back on, or do the beadlocks hold 'em tight enough so you don't need glue? I'd like to add weights to my Losi MRC, but I don't like glueing tires. If not, which wheel for the MRC don't need glue? Pro-Line's Titus 1.9" rims perhaps?
Although I kinda see what AtomicMods means about the alloy skid plate adding style points, I think nitrikid99 is right; if the thing´s a rock crawler and the plate actually detracts from its performance, how can they be stylish? It´s like Harley Davidsons; the only people who are impressed by them are those who know little about motorcycles. Anyone with any knowledge just smiles when they´re mentioned and politely changes the subject...
I finally found some 3Racing High Clearance Links. Since this video is almost a year old, is there anything new that would really blow the doors off this little Losi?
On Xtreme 4X4 (TV Show) they did a show on RC Crawlers and did an upgrade feature on the Losi Mini. I think they did everything except the limiter. They also did a true bead-lock with PVC tube which was very cool.
I was wondering a few things though. the plastic mounting plate i removed and mounted elctronics on front of trans and bat on servo BUT the amount of weight on front axle has caused the rear axle to track sideways and turning had been affected. i was also wondering if i could possibly splice wires and mount a rear steer serv for more weight and control.... BTY the stock servo broke week after i got it and i now have a futaba all steel servo.. was wonering if steering comps all work on back axle.
dont try and splice the wires your local shop can order you in a harnes to run two servos together but beware!!! if your running two high torc servos you can run into problems with you (B.E.C) cousing you to lose power and a number of other problems!
I have one of these. The track is too narrow and it's always tipping over sideways. Needs to be considerably wider. Hub spacers or wheels with more offset might help. Are you working on a 4 wheel steer system yet? Mechanical part should be easy but how to wire it up?
1:18 Scale? Was the 1:18 discontinued when the 1:24 Scale Micro Rock Crawler came out, or does Losi make both. Mine is definitely 1:24. It's printed on the box.
To my knowledge Losi still makes the 1/18 (and also a 1/10). I think they came out with this one cause you can crawl pretty much anywhere with this and it makes for a perfect scaler.
so the antenna tube shock limiters is great to get rid of torque twist...but isn't 100% articulation worth the inconvenience of torque twist? im assuming that degraded your articulation to about 80%?
We've found through much crawling and comping that 100% Articulation can hurt you. If you're just playing around in the yard, it doesn't really matter. - Jay
I bought a Mini Crawler last weekend, after driving it a lot totally stock I can really agree with everything you said here. Though the torque twist isn't as bad as you make it sound.
My torque twist is redonkulas! but we've got a brushless system in ours...The battery, I cleaned the top of the servo and the bottom of the battery with rubbing alcohol and used some serious servo tape. It's never moved...Cleaning is the most important thing if you want the servo tape to work. - Jay
No offense taken and we appreciate the input... We have found through tons of crawling that too much articulation can hurt you. If you've ever looked and a champion rock crawler or rock racer most of there shocks are limited.
oh, thats cool! i didnt know that!, thats pretty neat, ur right, i can roll over and lean to much with to much articulation, trust me, my mrc has 90 degree articulation and leans like crazy lol!
Plus with shaft driven crawlers like these you have a lot of torque twist... especially if you put a more powerful motor in. Limiting will help with that too! - Jay
I bought an RC car back in 2006, I can't remember the name but all of a sudden something got stuck, the wheels would spin but the differential-like gearing in the back just won't budge. It's an AWD electric 1:18 (i think) mini truck. Any tips on how to fix it?
You're video is way too interesting! haha pretty cool i might add. but yes, i hope that i see more videos like this ! you have some real interesting topics
We didn't have to lengthen the wires. I cleaned off the top of the servo and the bottom of the batt with denatured alcohol, added some heavyduty double side tape between the batt and servo. PRESTO! a lower C.G.
How did you get your battery to stay on the servo
