After watching this only once, the only way I could relieve the stress was to run out to the Interstate, and hurl myself right into the side of a Greyhound Bus. Sure, it hurt and I got a bent leg out of it, but it was a way at least to rid myself of the pressure buildup after seeing this!!!

I have been looking for ANOTHER Red Rose Tea commercial: There was a woman dressed in 1940's style clothing, and the music was (I can still here it in my head!)

But I can NOT find it ANYWHERE!

I used to think of these as the most cheaply produced TV ads of their time when I was a kid. Comparitively with what was being presented the sound and video were pretty bad. But in retrospect, what a gas!

This commercial scared the heck out of me when I was a little kid. There was also another Red Rose commercial with the chimps playing golf.... I think. Damn 70's!

Wow that's too weird. And so is tghat where those PG Tips ads came from later (in UK anyway?) as they used the chimps . It's another example too of how dumb we have become as this ad, simple though it is, would be considered too complicated for a modern audience. I mean, even human chart bands don't play musical instruments these days... they sit on stools as if they're constipated and mime some sickly guff into an auto-tuned microphone... they wouldn't be able to get chimps retarded enough

Actually Major Mudd was in the 3 Stooges last ever full length move called "The Outlaws is Coming" I can't remember his name but he was in the movie!! It was a way that the Stooges appreciated how he showed their shorts on his show. I remember seeing him introduce The Stooges in person when I was a kid at Pleasure Island somewhere off of Route 128. Pleasure Island was a cool place for a family to go in the summer time! I remember The White Whale boat ride the most!!

My father told me to look up the red rose tea chimps online... I found them. And i thought some of the commercials on these days were silly... But at least the message shown in the commercial is easy to grasp... Monkeys can seriously play the saxaphone!

The Marquis Chimps were on the Ed Sullivan Show more often than Topo Gigio. Hollywood Palace also. I believe there's an indirect reference to them in the "Hollywood Television Showcase" segment of "That Thing You Do!", where they mention who's appearing on the show and they mention "Paul Pope's Primitive Primates". This ad would often appear after the closing credits on the Major Mudd Show on WNAC-TV Channel 7 in Boston around 1964 or 1965. This is a vivid childhood memory for me. Thanks!

This was my favorite commercial when I was a kid..............and like babandray nobody remembered it, only a very few did. I still love it to this day. Clever advertising back then. I don't buy Red Rose tea............I buy Lipton!! But still love chimps!

I'm thrilled that somebody had the chance to post this old commercial. Like all of the other messages, I roared at this when I was a kid. People don't believe me when I tell them about it. Now, after all these years, I can finally show it to them. I too remember seeing it Major Mudd.

@rayg665 Yes!!! Major Mudd - "I and a B and a B and a Y means I'll Be Blasting You!" This ad was so cool for kids back in the early-to-mid '60s. A shame that no footage (as far as we know) exists of the Major Mudd Show, which I believe aired up until about a few months before his death. TVParty(dot)com has some still photos of him, but that's all.

Back in the 60s this commercial aired almost every day on Major Mudd, a Boston area weekday morning kids program. Never understood why they ran a tea commercial on a children's show (for the benefit of the moms watching along?), but I always got a kick out of this ad. Thanks for the memories....

It would be a nice if the watermark wasn't there. Otherwise, it's great to see the vid for the first time since I was a little kid. I even have the song on 45. The song was a pretty big cult hit here in Pittsburgh, and I'm lucky enough to have one of the original copies.
