....also...was curious...what was the "Trackmate hardware" you mentioned? Is it something you have to purchase or can you make it up yourself ? ( I've got heaps of stuff out in the back shed that I constantly raid for bits )....Cheers.
Hi Daaunta, I think the Trackmate system was talked about, it was a few years ago. Cool that it times to 0.001sec. Do you know if it works on XP SP2? I like your idea of a video about the system, there doesn't seem to be any videos about it or how to wire it up. I'm sure a few mates would be very interested if you were to post an info video of your setup. For the C64 setup I just used an overhead beam with microswitches and thin plastic extensions hooked up to the joystick port. Cheers.
Nice detailed setup mate, that'd get the boys locked on for some competition. You mentioned a computer timer system. I was wondering if it timed to 0.001sec and what system and software you're using, myself and a few mates were trying to find an application for a modern PC for them to use. We tried ones found on the net but with no success. I've got an old C64 with a program I wrote years ago that times 4 lanes to 0.001sec, but they're obselete. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Cheers.
@XSFDRIVER The timimg system I'm using is Trackmate. It only times down to .01 seconds, and the system I'm using it on is a little pc running windows 98. You need the trackmate hardware to attach to the track, and you can wire up the sensors yourself. The hardware connects to your pc via a 25pin serial port. All the tracks around Toowoomba use this system. Very versatile and easy to use. I should video the pc setup and wiring more.
@ozlatemodel Thank you. As far as tracks go that are associated with the Toowoomba Slot Car Club go, no. This is it. Although a track like this is not hard to make. This video, the track was incomplete. It has since been completed, and lap times for stock super g+ f1 cars are just under the 3 second mark.
