  • If steve segael ever wants a high five from me I know what to expect

  • Aikido is probably most useless martial art in real fighting. I remember once when i was training Jiu-Jutsu at the gym and behind a curtain there was aikido class and all they did was screaming and stuff like ha-haa i got your hand, do a back flip!

  • @skytari actually aikido is one of the most dangerous fighting techniques because they teach not only defense fighting but they train you self control and it's actually very complicated. But if not totally wrong because experience is. By far the most dangerous and effective

  • Why the "sensei" must be so fat? This unheathy and unpromo for fighting arts!

  • i think i´ll take jim carrey as my karate instructor...he is funnier than this guy,

  • man aikido instructors rly hate high fives?

  • pow analisei o video e essa onda do tiozinho levantar seu braço embaixo do suvaco,,rs do oponenteao baixar nunca q o cara ia cair feito manga madura desse jeito....fala serio mano

  • i am an aikidoka but this guy sucks he is super slow (maybe for illustration purposes but at one real time speed would help make a point) I believe in u fight like you train and this is not raining

  • THIS AINT NO DANCING CLASSES !!

BY THE WAY LOVE YOUR DRESS

  • WTF WAT KINDA TRANING IS DAT I NO I CAN DO BETTER THAN DAT !!!

  • Wo attacks like that?

  • I'm quite sure that aikido is not the deadliest martial art in the world. However, believe it or not, it allowed me to disarm an attacker that produced a knife against me some years ago. I don't practice aikido, but taekwondo, and had learned an aikido technique against knives from my brother, who practices the said Japanese martial art. Since then, I have never laughed at any martial art, for there is either bad master or but student, but not bad technique.

  • Nice Dress! :)

  • Bad throw.

  • I know it was a breakfall at the end, but come on, 70% was him throwing HIMSELF lol

  • you talk to much !

  • what the hell is this? Is that a proper way to attack or even to walk? it looks that the attacker has a wodden leg

  • meto lhe a porrada , jiu jitsu bond and boxe boal, motherfucker

    not this baltet

  • meto lhe a porrada , jiu jitsu bond and boxe boal, motherfucker

  • Why don't they use this in MMA? I think it is because it doesn't work when someone resists like in normal grappling...?

  • There are a few reasons. One could be that Aikido isn't really meant for competitive use from a philosophical point of view so there goes a number of users. Another could be that given the rules for MMA, fighters decide to learn something that they feel could be more useful in that rule set. Another could just be that its not as flashy as some more prominent ones and it never seems useful. Trust me, it works when you resist. The idea is to do its so quick that they don't have time to resist.

  • How do you catch his arm in the first place? it might be planted on your face (serious question not trying to criticize)

  • I'm just returning to Aikido after a break of about 15 years. This guy is a really good teacher, breaks down and explains the kata really well and his uke is good too. I think the title says it all, it is for beginners, so it is done slowly. Having had this doen on me at full speed and quite a lot of force, believe me... you happily roll out of it.. or it will easily dislocate your shoulder/break an arm.

  • you call that a throw??

    more like he got away

  • @10Dante4 ok i would love to see you attack this guy. he would throw you and if you didn't know break falls then you would land on your back with no air in your lungs. because if you didn't know if you land on your back you get the air knocked out of your lungs. try and attack this man.

  • new type of attack "high five attack" :)

  • He's all like TALK TOO THE HAND!

  • u get what u pay for. it's a free video

  • can you still make that throw if he just standing in front of you raising his hand to your chest? will that throw still work?

  • The attacker is simply allowing the Instructor to demonstrate a Technique or Concept. Most likely if he were to perform this more realisticly, the Attacker would be going to the hospital for a broken arm or worst.

  • if you guys are so good why are you on youtube looking up how to do these moves?

  • that isn't a throw at the end. How did the defender transfer any motion forward? Ho only dropped his arm. Aikido isn't at fault, this is obviously a bad instructor.

  • He used his Ki, obviously.

  • @AriasRequiem obviously u never looked closely enough at the move itself. the purpose of the arm under opponent's arm is to lift the opponent up in order to further unbalance him. after that, the instructor just had to lean forward to make the uke fall. thing is, the guy could choose to fall "realistically" face first and hurt himself, but aikido students are taught to roll to avoid that. to anyone else out there, this is a DEMO. it only looks unrealistic because its a controlled environment

  • i took a few classes of this and it seems that its more about controlling anger than just lashing out at people, the moves taught are to get your opponent away from you and to defend yourself in a non lethal manner, unlike boxing which is more all out and gun ho. these techniques do work in real life, put togeather they make a very effective way to defend yourself.

  • this is aikido for beginners, c'mon. of course it isn't going to be intense. what did u expect?

  • As normal you regular people dont understand this. The attack is no un realistic, the hand can be any type of attack coming directly in against the defender. A straight punch, a straight knife stab, a arm grabbing for your shirt etc Think with your brain not with your eyes people!

  • who the fuck wud do thatt

  • hey it is not demonstratd good, the sensai doesnt say the places where we would thrust, the attacker goes for a throw he doesnt resist it doesnt look realistic

  • Gotlin seems to have mistaken the off balance of this technique, which occurs in the first step (not manufactured in the second), along with getting out of the way. In Aikido you can't "break the balance" or forcefully direct the attacker's energy, Aikido is entirely responsive.

  • it looks like the "attacker" is going in for a high five.

  • its the secret killer high five technique

  • The attack is no un realistic, the hand can be any type of attack coming directly in against the defender. A straight punch, a straight knife stab, a arm grabbing for your shirt etc

  • i know but i was just making a joke because it looks lame xD

  • @Jackthemeat how do you make up this funny comments??? LOL

  • never high five at an aikido master

  • There are better techniques he could rely on against a shomen tsuki, but if you're talented enough, this one should work. Of course, it was slowed immensely in this video and showed step-by-step, so it didn't look at all impressive. It would be nice if they showed it at a more realistic speed, too.

  • hahaha this is gay

  • This is an insult to Aikido seriously.

  • It's being slowed down so people can see what's happening. It can be done at full speed. It doesn't matter.

  • @lakkatony what an ignorant idiot lol

  • He is like Joe Pesci with a naff Eyebrow. No Disrespect intended.

  • "Learn mia otoshi, an aikido arm lock throw technique, from an aikido expert in this free martial arts video. "

Real budo teachers don't try to "teach" by posting videos on the net... this just shows technique and nothing about the spirit of budo.

The motivation can only be money or ego.

  • He doesznt make a little jummp!

it helpsz qet away from teh atak!

if he wouldnt do that he would be in a huqqee paiinnn!!

  • Comment removed

  • I hate how the person thats getting demed on allways does a lil jump to help the throw

  • joe peshi did it right lol

  • at 0:56 he seems unbalanced, maybe there is something wrong with his posture.

  • weird show of aikido, i study it myself and we train differently. the uke attacks weirdly, you can still throw softly with a proper attack.

  • They need to go further into it to show where the pressure is applied for the technique to go from being arm lock / control to a throw. The big guy just rolls over before any technique was actually applied. The initial hip-rotate to move the arm around seemed pretty good, but I'd be ifffy to put both of my hands out of action just to put down one of the attackers.. especially against someone with upper technique experience (boxers etc). Others thoughts?

  • lol he suck! Even his hami is wrong!

  • & YOU SUCK

  • merdaaaaaaaa

  • You are all welcome to throw me like that anytime. And I promise that the victory would be mine.

  • haha that is awful, u cant pull some1 to fall if ur hand is infront of them, terrible aikido

  • Yeah when I attack I run at you with my arm out! Hahaha!!! You go down on purpose! I pay you to fall! You run at me with eyes closed! YUP three guys down! Just like in the movies! Awesome show! Great Job!

  • Are you just acting or are you a real idiot? They try to TEACH, and showing the move as simply as possible. If you have brains yous should understand that the guy walking fowards is the coming punch. They just wont show it fast because you couldnt understand what just happened, and there is the risk that sensei fails and gets knocked out.

But personally i think that you wont learn anything from these tutorials if you dont have dojo experince before.

  • stupid

  • i love aikido...its beautiful....but now that ive studied Jiujitsu it just doesnt seem practical to me anymore..

  • HA HA HA..You Guys are funy..Never seen Tomiki Ryu ,huh?? I relize Tomikis way of teaching Aikido can seem a bit ,,oh,...Arcaic, Really it is a very good system..and a very old one.Remember , Kenji Tomiki studied w Ueshiba Osensei back in the 20's and 30's..WAY Before aikido became what it is today. This may seem somewhat UN-AIKIDOish, but it developes into a very nice form of Aikido...REALLY..Dont be TOO Harsh here. This is one of Tomikis 17 BASIC waza. He developed it this way to teach to kids

  • how many times did you post this coment?

  • how do you throw him away then? i only see him fall. just like a judo throw or something

  • in this video the sensei didn't even use any force to throw his student, his student just rolled, i find the really lame , i am a student of bujinkan budo taijutsu more commonly know as ninjutsu, and our throws are much better than the ones practiced in aikido, does anyone know if aikido has any punches ?

  • yea they do

see here the guys rolls so he wont get hurt as much as he would in real

  • Ever heard of ukemi? This throw works (i have done one very close to this) if you do it right.

Good luck with Bujinkan, i have practiced it one week now and it seems effective+fun. :)

  • stupid, uke is not going to just let you throw them, there will be some resistance, if you don't learn under realistic conditions, then there is no point in learning at all.

  • Comment removed

  • @deltachange your clearly slow cuz he is just going over the movement .. no shit in real life there will be resistance but u gotta rmember most techniques in aikido will fuck you up if u move incorrectly or if the uke doesnt quite go with it u can injure him .

aikido isnt like other martial arts,

  • :)))..uncool....who will hit u like this...not even a 5 year old kid dont punch like in this video....

  • O cmon...

  • I would like to see a defense against a overhand right ,hook .learning that would be pratical

  • Hmm, yes this works. We trained a technique like that at my last aikido lesson. When i was uke (attacker), i really tried to stay in balance when my partner tried to throw me, and he did.

We didin't even do it fast.

  • i'm sceptical to wether this actually works... aikido has never been proven in any sort of interstyle competition. i've never even seen a wristlock in neiter mma as submission grappling. have seen one in BJJ sparring, but that was not standing up, and would never had been attempted standing up

  • Well... i practice aikido, in a Aikikai style, Aikido Really works, is not proved 'cuz is the filosophy... we only use Martial Arts for defense, and we don't try to hurt the enemy "hurt enemy is hurt yourself: Morihei Ueshiba"

  • yeah, but still.. you'd think someone whos good in aikido would sooner or later disregard that filosophy

  • absolutly... a lot of people like this kind of martial art... they no follow that filosophy... and do battles and competitions... try to find "shotokan Aikido".

  • Small Joint manipulation isn't enabled in MMA

  • wristlocks is, but not fingers. of course the gloves dont help

  • kikkamoen have you even tried aikido?..if you did and didnt like it pls dont say anything bad about it.

  • That wouldn't work out in real life. Aikido is bullshit.

  • Nah aikido would take out any one v. one to-the-death-match-setting fighter.

Though truthfully the video doesn't exaggerate on aikido's most important principle of kepping opponents off-balance.

  • yes it does. cunt

  • informative but the sensei was off balance at the beginning.....had bad stance
