I've dropped the original poster (i.e. the producer) a line, so maybe he'll clear things up for us. In the meantime, though, I must say that it's not at all implausible that the audio is live. There are pre-production and post-production techniques to get a good sound, including unidirectional microphones (made famous with the "Dean Scream" in 2004). Pros could not produce their high-quality live recordings without such tools, and there's no reason to rule out such tools here.

I'm pretty sure this is live, 'cuz if it is dubbed, then the synching is beyond brilliant -- but no, I think rather that (a) the videographer is an exceptionally good one, and (b) Akercocke have a tight act in or out of the studio. See approx. 5'14" for a close up of Mendonca when he's singing -- it's less plausible that that is synched than that it is simply a good performance and a good recording.

Because the pronunciation of 'murDerandVAnity' through a death grunt runs into 'NURtURingcOncEIt'; they sound similar, and thus redundant. Just from the placing, I can tell he IS actually singing those two words, otherwise the intro would be shorter. Mendonca focuses on getting the damned sound out, and then trying to fit it to diction.
