I would suggest PrPro more readily than Avid. Don't get me wrong, I use Avid for my work, but the average advanced Adobe user comes to Avid and says "is that all there is?" Avid is not about the effects, or what formats you can get into it, or how (ala ama). It's about editing. It's simply the best tool for fast, precise editing. Yes, you can make the same edits with adobe and FCP. But, if you know all of them equally (expertly), you can edit ten times faster with Avid just using the kbd.
