@Noodles37UK at this point though, Steve Realised he was trying to mimic vicious in many ways you vould tell by the guitar strumming eventually he realised he was trying to be so much like sid but realised he had his own syle and potential but i agree with you he was very cool
defiantly not what you except from them but yeah, without johnny and sid...However, i actually love this song cause it's so freaking chill to listen to.
I really hate how these guys really don't get it. Johnny Rotten was the brains behind the operation. Steve and Paul were excellent musicians though. Sid Viscious was Johnny Rotten's joke, but at least he sort of understood that. I guess the complementary skills of them all made the band great. Split them apart though and they really are an abortion.

they fucking sucked without sid n john, this is the equivalent of a massive cow shit puked up by ron jeremy cause it was shoved up ron jeremys ass by a barnys powerful jizz shot
kind of...he was cremated though its rumoured that his ashes was spread over nancys grave, also rumoured that his mother dropped his urn at the airport and his ashes were scattered there aswell.
That's true. The concept was to mock, and laugh at the established order which in the UK at the time was Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Roxy Music. Unfortuneately, the likes of Elton John are still here. Alas.
@mikes1962 There's nothing wrong with acting like rock star until you write music you like and don't care too much about other people's opinion and record's selling. There are a lot of ROCK bands of that kind, not only punks. But you right about Jones and Cook. I can hardly imagine Sid acting like that.
This was after the pistols split up so no rotten and also after Sid had died. There was a whole plethora of single releases long after the Pistols existed in any form and,in some cases, not even involving any of the pistols(ten pole tudor).
I don't think they were cheap at all, but I do know that Steve stole his white Les Paul, along with a shit load of other guitars he used a short while in the earlier days... Think I've seen him with a Flying V, another Les Paul (sunburst), Les Paul Jr. Doublecut, and some others in the very early days, 75-76.. And later on he maybe got the money to actually BUY new guitars, I don't know.. I think that some of the later Les Pauls he used were made by Burny (Fernandes), some japanese brand!
@paulsimonon82 He didn't steal the white Les Paul. Malcolm McLaren got it from Syl Sylvain of the N.Y. Dolls. He traded it in return for a plane ticket home from Florida when the Dolls called it quits. He then gave the guitar to Steve when the Pistols were formed. Syl told me the story in Detroit himself...
Oh, ok, thanks for the info! I know that he stole a lot of equipment, so I just assumed that he stole that one as well, since it seems like he used it since the very begining. :) I also heard that he stole a guitar from Bob Marley, have you heard that story? Don't know if it's true though, do you know something about it?
he wrote most of the stuff full stop.you notice after he left they never wrote another decent song with rotten, sid, cook and jones.this is a great song but after glenn left the sex pistols as we know them never wrote another song worth knowing about
The song was originally meant to be an "anti" Christmas single as well as about their own messed up lives, but due to Virgin screwing up, it was withheld for the GR&RS film launch.
They rerecorded the song because Virgin felt Paul's vocals were too 'soft' for a "punk" single; so people would buy the 'alternate' version; & finally to change the line 'one of these days you're gonna die', which they didn't want misinterpreted as being about Sid (who died the previous month)
I thought Paul sounded a lot better than Steve. I can't see them presenting this song to John though. And John would have been horrified at Lonley Boy.
Agreed,in truth it was Glen and John who were the driving force of the Pistols but you may note that the songs are always credited to all four members.
you're right..it's not one of the best places to listen to something on a good quality... yeah, perhaps it's a gibson, and the "strange sound" is caused by something about pick ups or the amplification...thanx XD
