@Selfsmart I do not remember off hand, but I had it made by a company that made one for their show car. At the time I was the only one with one other than that one on the show car. I believe someone bought them out and tried marketing the manifold, but people in the neon world didnt want to pay the price for them so it was dropped.
@starionboi Yeah i know, but the one in the vid is a 2003-2005 srt 4, not the 94 to 98 model. the 2.0's from those years were all single cams. The srt4 and pt cruiser turbo uses a differnent engine, block, ect. based on the dodge intrepids 2.4L that has been modded for turbo, ect.. the 03-05 neons with the 2.0 have the same mitsubishi 420 A sohc found in eclipse's and varios other mitsu's and dodges. The point is, the video maker labeled his 2.4 turbo as 2.0.
Love it. Just running the 2.0 exhaust cam then? I've got this planned for mine with fidanza gears...what were your degrees of offset on the intake and exhaust gears?
I have both intake and exhaust. Every car is different when you degree the cams....best to get to a dyno and adjust them to make sure they are correct. Mine were +2 intake and -3 exhaust to start in the vid. After I was tuned they ended up being +1, -2 and now have no lope at idle at all.
Not much. It was around 5whp and 6-7wtq throughout the power band. So not bad for junkyard cams, but really not worth it unless your like me and like digging into the motor
yeah, i have had a few old neons for racer beaters and have a couple sets laying around, i hear the 95's were the best cams because there higher lift, i have a set of 95 and 98's, and im debating on if i want to try them
I would honestly just wait until you have money to get a built head. In the end you will be getting headwork more then likely anyway....just save yourself time and do it right he first time....thats what I would do all over again.
Well to do it correctly unless you have the machines to do it I would not touch it. Sure you can smooth things out and open exhaust ports up, but that is not going to help cams. I am talking about going with some Crane 16s or crane stage 2s, etc. In order to use bigger cams you need a full head job.
I believe at the time they were set at +2 intake and -2 on exhaust. I have since had a dyno tune and they are different now....not lopey as it should be. A lopey idle is good for NA cars, but not so good for turbo applications.
1. 2.0 intake has roughly the same duration and more lift than the 2.4 intake cam.
2. The 2.0 cam also has enough extra duration to make a difference which makes it worth the swap if you do it yourself.
The 1st gen guys have been swapping in 2.4s for years now. Its common knowledge among us the differences between a 2.0 and 2.4 cam, especially after you swap in a stock 2.4 and actually become SLOWER. Swapping in a set of 2.0 cams make all of the difference.
Do you realize that there is more to a cam then just a label? Try researching both the srt4 cams and the 2.4 dohc N/A cam. When you do that you will understand why this swap was done.
The manifold was the 2nd one made by a company who no longer exist anymore. I think I paid around $700 for it. I dont remember as it has been around 3 years since I had it.
With our track doing repairs or it being too cold out and track closed has kept me from getting good runs in. Soon though I will....just waiting on some newer parts to come in.
I noticed a difference, but honestly dont know how much of a gain you get. I think the main gain from these is that they hold more power longer than the stockers. So not really much gain..maybe 2whp or so, but holds more to redline.

no the cams were out of a 2.0 DOHC(dual overhead cam) motor.
vschaos 1 year ago
isn't that a 2.4L in that? i believe the 2 liter engines were single cam.
csimvwtnt 1 year ago
@csimvwtnt from 94 to 98 the Neon highline,sport, r/t had the Chrysler/Lamborghini designed 2.0 that was a DOHC.

i know nothing about srt's but why did you use the cam from the 2.0l? is it supposed to be more agressive?
supradave9 1 year ago
@supradave9
They only provide minor benefits if you degree them correctly with cam gears, but they are cheap and can be had from the junkyard

im just going by wat u said previously about it having more lift and DURATION

alright man thanks for getting back
440exxxrider 3 years ago
so the cams in the 2.4 are smaller then the 2.0 or the other way around ? get back
440exxxrider 3 years ago
yup. The lift and duration are larger with the 2.0s. Its not very much, but you can get them cheap out at the junkyard.
vschaos 3 years ago
Are those the cams from the 2.0 liter neon. is that what you mean?
depwater12 4 years ago
yes they are from the 2.0 DOHC neon.
