The problem with Conservative Freemasonry (what descends from the United Grand Lodge of England, as opposed to Liberal or Progressive Freemasonry, which descends from the Grand Orient de France) is that the Grand Master of the U.G.L.E. has always been a member of the Royal Family (see "United Grand Lodge of England" on wikipedia if you don't believe me). Thus, Conservative Freemasonry ultimately serves the interests of the British Monarchy.
For sure, Leo indeed is such a nice and kind person, but that is Leo, not because he is a freemason or illuminati or muslum, but because he is Leo and he is a very kind person period.
I wanna know why Freemasons chose that name. Were they originally a stone mason guild, and if so, what's the connection with stone masonry and higher knowledge? I suspect it has to do with sacred architecture, but I want the whole story. I have so many questions about the significance of ritual, etc. And when and how were they infiltrated by evil, or was there always a good and bad side?
@katydig Its called Freemasonry because we build... Good and evil are two poles of the same thing... Like the Sun pushing and pulling on the planets they oppose and attract each other. Mind over matter, Active over Passive, life over death...
@DJAnarchoRedist, by "Christian clerics" you mean Papist Priests (Jesuits). Popery is not Christian. Popery is an after-growth of paganism spreading its popish theology under a Christian mask.
@Islandretreat The Pre-Christian Pagan Kings where selfless like Tyr. If the economy went bad they would offer themselves up as a sacrifice. They where not about centralization of wealth and power like the Pope and Tinker King monarchs that are pathetic bastardizations of the Pagan Kings. The Pre Christian tribes had a collective organic view of the tribes they where much along the lines of council communism and anarchism.

The Obedience seems like more of a control mechanism used by the Christian Clerics over the Freemasonry.
