  • those are Bombardier cars, the TTC T1 subway cars in Toronto sound the same.

  • wow this train of Today was out in service in 1995 before I was born in 96 wow.

  • Hmmm... the sound it makes is similar to Taipei Metro's C301 trains. If I'm not wrong, this train was manufactured by Kawasaki, right?

  • WHO DISLIKED THE 3PICDOM OF AWESOMNESS???

  • The doors opened on the wrong side so nobody would get in or out. :)

  • I can see why the R110B was discarded as a selection; It had 2 cabs for each carriage! I've never seen a train with (AAAA)(AAAA) sets, besides the R68/As..

  • R110A>R142A

  • @SuperCoolDude2014

    R110A > R142A > R142 > R62

damn, the 1 really needs new cars..

  • Believe it or not. It says on wikepedia that a new possible train called the r211 will replace the r46's in 2015.

  • these trains sound like the TTC T1 subway cars!

  • @123valid to me in my opinion, they sound more like the C301 Kawasaki train.

  • @123valid I said and was thinking the same thing !

sounds neat for an NY MTA train.

  • XD i love seeing videos like this

(sigh) if only those were still in revenue service in 2004

  • @tevin45p YES! The brakes would repeatedly catch fire.

  • Its an early R142. I saw it one time pass by Atlantic Ave.

  • 1:55 to 2:00

    "don't f*ck with me!" =P

  • wow this is amazing, where are these trains kept now? and you don't just get to see a little history of the train but you also get a feel of that 1995 atmosphere ahhh how I miss the 90's

  • @esconyfinest So do I. My favorite train's the R110 and the C301 in Singapore. Yoiu should check out Metro Taipei.

  • Sounds like a TTC H1

  • @RdDaye Yeah, but they don't sound like the original. So them TTC H1s ain't sh--.

  • The R110A's sound similar to the Bombardier T1's on the TTC

  • @SubwayTrainOperator5 Yeah, but like I said B4, them TTC H1s don't sound like the original so they ain't sh--.

  • @SubwayTrainOperator5 acually it sounds more like the C301 train by Kawasaki in my opinion.

  • These were the fastest subway trains ever to operate in the NYC Subway Sysetm, Experimental or not. These were able to reach speeds of up to 80 MPH! -That is, before they were taken out of testing service due to fire damage and brake problems. Quite a shame, actually. I would have loved to see one of these in revenue service!

  • @Roboman2121 where on earth did you get that 80 MPH figure from? You might be thinking about the R44s, which in testing on the LIRR did reach around that speed.

  • We need the REAL Nostalgia Train back: The R100a. The TA better bring that back.

  • These aren't as loud and annoying as the R142/143/160s.

  • @AIRdomination Yeah! EWW!

  • I'm glad that loud pitch didn't take the place of the door chime ;)

  • Have you anymore of the R110 clips, you know, the ONE that makes all the stops?

  • Oh, man. So glad the final designs for the R142 traction motors and subsequent R143 and R160 traction motors had different-sounding resonances. These motors sound like they're angry/straining to pull the train. I've heard similar resonance patterns on other trains internationally, but they've just always sound broken and laboured.

  • @Roboboy Them Bombardier motors are also on Alstom, right?

  • R110A sound really brought memory's since I only road it once when I was a kid.

Again many thanks for posting this

  • @pspmerr We need some more of them R110a clips.

  • It a great thing you had that kind of camera back then!

  • Comment removed

  • how old were u at this time??

  • they have really messed around with the chime

  • As people mentioned before, they sound like T1 for obvious reasons. By the way the T1 were made in here in canada, I don't think Bombardier has a factory in France..

  • @Carnivoure12 No, they don't. The company's strictly Canadian 100%. And I 'd say, "EWW".

  • @AdmiralArcher EWW? Bombardier is a great manufacturer, incase that is what you were referring to. . .

  • this sounds like th T1 on the ttc

  • 1st time a r110a was ever heard lol

  • yo this is crzy how old are you like 100?? lol you actually have videos from like 10 years ago thats so cool! i bet you dont have R68 D train still running on the Brighton Line like ave J i would LOVE to see that!

  • Damn, 1995?? I was born this year!

  • I miss that Tech-Train.

  • Keep Kawasaki and VENT Bombardier.

  • Please give me some more of dem R110 clips. They're way better than dem R142s. Get them R142 off the track and rebuild the R110s.

  • Holy crap! So this is how the R110As sounded like! Thanks for sharing :)

  • @LightningFever86 Yes, and I loved that train. I don't know why them R142s by Bombardier came. The MTA should've made some more R110As and VENTED them r142s.

  • @AdmiralArcher there is an R142A made by Kawasaki, now the next one is the R188 being made by Kawasaki.

  • @PuertoRican88 R188? How'll that sound? I hope they'll have the R110a motors.

  • @AdmiralArcher im not sure how it sounds yet, some say it might be the R142A motors since 10 of the R142As are taken out of service for testing on the (7) line and its being retro fitted as an R188 proto. who knows, will soon find out when they arrive.

  • Like others said before, it sounds like the TTC T1. It also sounds like the Taipei Metro C301. One of the best tractions sounds ever heard! Great video!

  • @CrazyAboutA380s But the TTC T1 were nade from Bombardier. EW I hate them French-made trains. Japanese all the way. For they know how to build a Tech-Train (R110a)

  • @CrazyAboutA380s absolutely, when I heard the C301 in videos, it mostly sounds like that, both the R110A and C301 were made by Kawasaki in the same year in 1992. the T1 trains were made in 1995-2001 by bombardier in canada, although it may sound a bit the same but differently.

  • @CrazyAboutA380s you are very correct on that, and I like the propulsion as well. the way I heard the C301 made by kawasaki in the same year as the R110A in 1992, they both sound alike. although the T1 by bombardier has that the same way, but very differently the way it sounds.

  • if the mta had of just ordered a fleet r110a and r110b instead of overhauling older cars we would nt have no fare hike or service problems now

  • @DjHammersBVEStation What you mean NO?

  • @AdmiralArcher The R110A and R110B had tons of problems that were attributed to design flaws. The R110A and R110B were designed as built as test cars, with many different types of new equipment that was untested and prone to breakdowns. They were not built for reliability and 40+ years of revenue service.

  • @andreebrooklyn I agree with you 100%. In fact they should ask KAWASAKI to recycle the R110A with the propulsion standing alone.

  • @AdmiralArcher its too bad the propulsion system from the R110A won't be compatible with the R142/R142As out there, if that was possible.

  • THANK U SOO MUCH FOR THW VIDEO NOW I LOVE THE R110A

  • @XxLiLGiJoE17xX I've been waiting for the R1110a Tech-Train clips for so long and now they've finally arrived. We want some more of dem R110A clips.

  • Now I know where the TTC learned from when they ordered the T1 subway cars! I approve!

  • Dude, you're now my hero lol

  • CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT VID! lolz

  • This is an excellent video. You know after this you're gonna be a celebrity in the train buff circles? :]

  • @coyoteatquiznos I know that now! lol.

  • I REALLY hope that u have more videos of the R110s besides this and the R110B one! :)

  • @DjHammersBVEStation Yes, I do have more videos.

  • @Transitviews lol PLEASE post them we are all aching to see them! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Transitviews GOD BLESS YOU

  • Yeah...So wheres the next video???

  • Finally, someone came out with videos of both the R110A (130) and R110B (131). Now nobody ever had MP3, or MP4 files of the R110A until now, so it was nice it was finally uploaded. I did ride the R110A, and actually saw both models displayed in the NYC Transit Museum when they were first displayed to the public in November, 1992. This was a nice thing to see, but it is a shame that both models are OOS, and R110B's 3004,5,6 are seperated due to parts taken out of them.

  • Oh keep the goods coming man, great video!

  • Holy crap! It sounds like a TTC T1!

  • @pplk23 Same propulsion as the TTC T1- Westinghouse AC motors with a GTO thyristor. Shortly after that, Westinghouse sold its propulsion systems division to AdTranz, which then became Bombardier.

  • sounds like the proplusion coming from the LACMTA's gold line trains...forgot which company they were made...

  • @spamwaits1509 Maybe Bombardier or Kawasaki; I've been to Toronto and heard trains from Bombardier with a similar propulsion to this.

  • #OMG I am speechless after that propulsion. IT WAS SICK! 1000 times better than the R142A! It actually sounded like a low-pitch R142A.

holy crap this video is far past awesome!

just one thing: what did the announcements sound like?

  • @4P3607 It sounds like the trains in the DC Metro

  • @Redbirdfan33 he dont know nor been in DC metro.

  • @4P3607 here we go again with foaming smh lol. but yes it is awesome to see an R110!

  • @4P3607 I'll let you hear the announcements in the next video! Stay tuned.

  • @Transitviews k thanks!

    The propulsion is beutiafull!

  • @4P3607 The r110a was (and still is) far the HOTTEST than the Bombardier R142s. Let me drive the r110a over the r142 anyday.

  • @4P3607 the announcements sound worse than in the R142/A, in my opinion. They are actually stepped watch?v=6PObP04dyuQ <--- Hear them for yourself at 0:38.

  • @gamesfreak699 I know, but they are better than some other announcements in the subway. Especially the ENY lines (except the (L)), and the (A)(C)(F) & Franklin Av (S).

  • Thank you for posting this up for us to see. I've been wondering what the R110As have sounded like for so long and now I finally know!

  • All i can say is WOW! You sure are bring history in!! O_O!

  • No one has ever uploaded a video of an R110A unless it was a yard move....... Nice video. Did you take any videos of an R110B?

  • @Redbirdfan33 I certainly did! Just posted a video of the R110B. I guess by now you probably saw the upload of it.

  • @Transitviews Yea I did...

  • I knew this was coming.
