These will never be implemented because they are too easy. TSA is in the business of making life difficult so they will get the chance to control you.
one problem i see with this is with the shoe brands that have metal in the soles for support. Brands such as BK's (British Knights) were outlawed in prisons for just that reason. Inmates would rip off the soles and turn the metal into a "shank". I could see a TSAhole searching and searching for somthing they will not find and violate every right of said passenger in the name of "terrorist threats"(much like they do now). Do you feel safer? What about the mall and movies? We need tsa there too!
Will it detect plastic knives, weapons, etc?? The answer is no, if in fact it works via electromagnetic means, much as does the metal detector you see people use at the beach.

This is a great invention that will keep people save in airports, stadiums or wherever there are large gatherings of people! The're people in this world that wouldn't think twice of killing themselves or anyone else! We need inventions like these to keep us save! Thank you!

This is great and all but other items that AREN'T metallic nor magnetic are hidden in shoes.
Didn't that one idiot hide powder or explosives in his shoes? How do we scan for that?
A nice addition to metal detectors but we need something that would scan for other potential weapons.
