  • If you can get the game to work in Windows 7 download DOSBOX from

    w w w . dosbox . com

And run the game under DOSBOX!

  • In modern games, the type head would not go all along the line and then return to print, because gamers today mostly seem to have A.D.D and wouldn't be patient enough!

  • This was one of the last great modem-to-modem multiplayer PC games.

  • It was a fun game to play.

  • I really loved this game when it came out. Wasted hours & hours - hell, weeks & weeks - playing it. Always kinda thought the sonar dude (at 3:19) looked like Robbie Bachman, drummer for Bachman - Turner Overdrive.

Later, after I upgraded my PC, I got Seawolf SSN-21. It was a lot more realistic... and harder!

  • I like the sounds.

  • I have this game but never got it to work on my PC. What's the deal with it anyway? I double-click the .exe file and it opens the DOS prompt to elect the graphics adapter, but when I select one it closes. What gives?

  • I played the hell out of this game, Back in 1990.....

    Thank god for Dangerous Waters.

  • Stupid brainless idiots aren't you jotenko, TheGunsandroses9 and ThrashMetalForces. Sounds like a least 2 of you have mental problems from headbashing! :)

  • this was so boring lol

  • @jotenko i never knew how you actually made the dam sub move anywhere ? i just blew up the friendlies and was shortly pinged to death afterwards what the fk?

  • looks so BORING

  • Looks soooo fun. [/sarcasm]

  • che stronzata

  • fisrt EA game wow..

  • I used to think those explosions were so realistic. Brings back good memories

  • Loved this game back in Jr. High. One of the first good Sub games.

  • multplayer?

  • I played "Das Boot", also a DOS submarine simulation game from 1990.

  • I loved this game when I was a kid, especially the last mission where you just had to launch those cruise missiles then run like hell.

  • @CopernicusSmith must have been a smarter kid than me dont think i ever managed a single mission too busy blowing up friendlies how old r u dude

  • A milestone in subsims. However, I think it was also one of few simulations of modern subs that you could actually play. The more recent sims, like Sub Command, are missing the thrill among all the details in controlling the sub.

  • @tsuaFzneiH are you kidding me? No game is detailed, to handle a real submarine you cannot even think of doing it all by yourself. there are technicians and there are commanding officers and engineers and those people who look for sonar and all that. What is so hard is that a water craft is just full of pressure meters pumps and taps and valves, you wont get those in games. i dont think

  • I was 5 years old playing this game, I just used to empty the ballast tanks (still dont know what that means) and then get bored

  • @dec1990brfc it means to fill it with air so you sise up

  • I had no clue what I was doing in this game, I still have the Mega Drive cartridge for this game. it was so rarely used, the cartridge is in practically brand new condition. I never understood what to do at all.

  • I loved this simulation. Finished all levels. Does anybody know a present sub sim that can compare to this game?

  • A bit dated if you mean released "this year"; but Dangerous Waters is the last one i know from Sonalysts (same team that published 688)

  • Thanks for the info.

  • @93million you cannot realy hit a torpedo without being detected, the ship that got hit would know which side the torpedo came,

  • Too much script!

  • I learnt my first russian words, with this game!!! :))) power of the games!

  • i had noo idea what i was doing in this game

  • Me neither lol.

  • me neither, but i used to play it when I was 10

  • And me neither...it was a weird game, i was 6 years old in 1991

  • ME TOO LOLOLOL

  • We've just hit a friendly, sir ?!?

  • I've lost sooooo much time on this game, but it was fun anyway back then. Miss the old times.

  • I've never seen this game. I played GATO, Seawolf, 688i by Janes, Silent Hunter series, and Sub Command. But I've never seen this one.

When did it come out? Anybody know?

  • Out in 1988 - I can recall playing it at lunchtime on my PC at work. It got me into PC gaming. Pretty impressive for its time.

  • good play!

How to record movies with sounds from dosbox?

    gretz!

  • I played this game for way too many hours...

  • My dad used to play this game. haha

  • DAMN! i remember this

  • wow i can't believe i used to play this when i was 5, on my 286 PC hahaha! I even remember running into whales sometimes.

  • i accidently torpedoed a few =(
