  • I knew I recognized this Skinner! I played it last October, and even went up into the top right chamber. It's a wonderfully powerful instrument.

  • if gays were not allowed to be in a church, where would all the priests go?

  • Cameron, you are incredibly amazing. I am an organist but not fit to tie your organ shoes! Wow!

  • I'll save you all some time. If god exists, whatever it is it doesn't care about humans, it doesn't favour people by giving out talents, it doesn't create jewish zombies, and it doesn't write books. Holy books are useless - if you followed every word of scripture in your chosen book you would be a terrible, evil person nowadays. But you don't because you know, intrinsically, which parts of them are acceptable and which aren't. Carpenter is gay, so shouldn't be allowed in church 'says the bible'.

  • @TomatoPro

Here's a new flash for you sweetie . . 70% of church musicians and clergy are gay or bi . .

  • @SuperElBorba That's great, really it is, but does that mean 70% of churches are ignoring their chosen scripture? I'm all for being spiritual btw, I just genuinely struggle to understand holy books :/

  • @TomatoPro I saw Cameron play in Edmonton and I don't care what ever his is in his personal live, I am bi Curious and I play the organ as well. I love him for what he is and he is one of the finest organist the world has nowadays, his musical gift is some we all would like to have even if it was only 20%.

  • @MrTdeJ Jealous! I've not seen him play. Sorry if I offended you, my point wasn't about Cameron's orientation. I am bi sexual also, and I too believe Cameron is a genius :)

  • "I'll just raise it to F sharp to make it fit...." not like that's difficult or anything. FML

  • Superb organist! Superb musician! Enough said. BRAVO - BRAVO!!

  • I have been more deeply moved by inferior organists. This is God-Given Talent intended to be used to worship, lead people in worship, comfort the sorrowing, inspire the convicted, prepare souls to hear the Word of God etc. Bach understood that. Instead its being used to entertain and give people a few moments of awe. I can't handle listening to him play Bach because i know he doesn't believe in the Spirit who inspired Bach to write preludes and fugues.

  • @kensingtonpalace

You are such a piece of shit if you can not simply understand that GOD preached love and acceptance of all, and for you NOT to love and accept ANYONE sharing the same love of any type of music, which all ultimately was created and has roots in not only leading worship of any faith, but comforting those in sorrow.

Secondly, "Comfort the sorrowing" is not proper grammar nor english as "sorrowing" is not even a word nor a phrase.

    YOU, kensingtonFAILace....FAIL. XD

  • @MrClassyTiger : No you have it backwards. God invited ALL to accept HIM. He will not accept those who do not accept Him. I'm not trying to be mean, i'm just trying to tell you the truth. P.S. the word "Sorrowing" is the present participle of "sorrow", look it up.

  • @kensingtonpalace - Blah blah blah . . You belong to a cult who believes in fairy tales....

  • Just played this organ today, sounds 100 times better in person, I was trembling, tears in my eyes. So beautiful.

  • good organist! How do I learn from you? Help me please

  • beautiful organist...and organ !!!

  • You CAN have great talent removed from the entrapments of religion. Why must church musicians be so concerned with the religious aspects of the church? We should embrace all people whether they are religious or not.

  • @OrganNLou

    For real! I completely agree!

  • I hate that such a talent on the organ has a disparagement for religion, yet those organs he primarily plays are in houses of worship.

  • If I could have the talent he has in the very tip of of his left pinky, I would be a very fortunate and accomplished musician! His musical ability (and knowledge) is nothing short of phenomenal.

  • I think it's a stretch to call a circle of fifths cycle "fascinating." A cycle, yes, but a fascinating cycle, no. What's fascinating is the works themselves, how they're written and performed, not the order Mr. Carpenter puts them in.

  • this kid is so amazing he is genious... and creative would love to see him live

  • How I wish years ago I could have heard Cameron play just one typical Wednesday night prayer meeting service at the First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, where he was organist while studying at the NC School of the Arts!

To those unfamiliar with prayer meeting, that is as close as Southern Baptists get on their knees sobbing. Did Cameron lead them to the Lord with a round of Chopin or Bach in F#?

Can't you just imagine? And we missed it!

  • I'm guessing he didn't use a transposer.

  • Toï toï toï! I'd love to see this concert...

  • Playing BWV 540 in F#? Funny!

I once played it in E because the European organ I played was a half-step sharp.

Wish we could attend your concert.

    Sounds like a blast.

Hope you will do a Christmas concert somewhere.

Wish you had finished 548. Do you do all the trills in it?

    Thank you.

  • Wish I could be there! Cameron is awesome x

  • The "damn" F major, as Virgil Fox often referred to it, is certainly one of the trickiest works of Bach as it cycles (in canon) through keys with utter abandon. That anyone can transpose it to F# major is nothing short of amazing, and certainly (as organist1982 points out) the more daring way to put together a Bach cycle. If he pulls it off flawlessly, they should give him a ticker-tape parade down 5th Avenue, not just applause.

  • And I love the seat he's using! Is that a Howard seat, with the separate halves?

  • I wonder if he's really going to *physically* transpose the F major to F#, or if the console has a transposer that he's going to use.??? Knowing him, though, he probably wouldn't have to think too hard to physically play it in F#...

  • No words...

    He's a genius!

  • I'm amazed that he would be able to so casually transpose the F major to F#!! However, if he had chosen a seventh Bach piece in C major or minor, he could've then moved the F major to the end without transposition, and the tonic notes of the 7 pieces would've then outlined all 7 "white keys": b, e, a, D, G, C, F. Wish I could be there!
