Amazing thank you Jaco for sharing and understanding our music you have touched so many of us in so many , are musical tenor wouldn't be complete with out you and i thank you so much . Rest in Peace my friend and you said it the best in the world
@tbass130 There's a fascinating book about Jaco called "Jaco, The Extraordinary and Tragic Life of Jaco Pastorious", by Bill Milkowski which comes with a CD of rare recordings, and is one of those books which is really difficult to put down! Anyway, I think it mentions that Jaco borrowed that bass for those sessions, and I think it notes what kind of bass, but I'd have to look through the whole book to find out. In the meantime, if you don't have the book, you should get it!
I could not understand how such tragedy could happen to this guy? What a real talent and pioneer of music. We miss ya all Mr Pastorius but your music will live on.
Thats a sexyy ass fretless, love the body, strage pickups, an the head is goofy. Put like a Rickenbacker head on it and that thing would be a boss! Ohh yeahh and Jaco is the best.
I don't think it's a carl thompson, look at the headstock. It looks like one, but I think it's european. Does anyone know for sure what this thing is?
That Fretless that Jaco is playing belongs to BB Kings old bassist Jerry Jemmont. He let jaco use it for this video. I dont know of the maker though. Doesnt sound as crisp as his jazz bass. This bass with some ggod strings then it would sound even better. But I love how it looks.
Because he's much better than me, as well as nearly every other instrumentalist who ever lived. I simply stated that, because I'm self taught and was never told it was wrong, I pluck with my third finger quite often. I thought it was interesting, and I think you're an asshole.
no, it's not.... firstly the headstock isn't a Carl Thompson design. second, all of carl's basses have rounded edges, where they're obvioussly solid on Jaco's bass.
I know the bass, I played the bass at Jacos house in Derfield fl after he had it given to him. It was made for him by a Danish luthier as stated by Swedishbass. Just listen to the notes being played...
@ZOMBIELANDakaUSA Les is a great player in his own style. But Jaco was a pioneer of bass and I guarantee he was an influence on Geddy who in turn influenced Les.

work on JLP's " Enigmatic Ocean " 1977 is amazing . Allan Holdsworth is also on this album.
