It is ridiculous that male babies are being sexually mutilated. The penis is perfect in its natural state. This is nothing less than child abuse! Parents stop mutilating your male children, you wouldn't do this to your daughters!
can ANYONE tell me why they couldn't put the baby to sleep BEFORE they cut into his most sensitive body part??? Is Anesthetic too expensive or somethin? I don't get it. grrrrr
Anesthetic carries huge RISKS for a newborn. Even the manufacturer's information for the topical anesthetic EMLA cream used for infant circumcision clearly states, NOT for use on the genitals and NOT for use on children under 6 months old. Adults have died from prolonged exposure to this product.
Perhaps another thing you don't get is this is HIS body. Circumcision is unnecessary and harmful. Would putting a little girl to sleep before cutting off part of HER genitals make it OK?
@thi711 It is too risky to give infants general anesthetic. They are very small and weak and it is a fine line between putting them to sleep and killing them.
Even if it was possible to put babies under general anesthetic, that does not make it okay to cut off part of their penis.

Every infant circumcision has unexpected results, just as you could never do a female breast surgery in infancy to have her wind up a C cup. You can't know how the penis will grow, or even how puffed up it is during the cutting.
Nobody could know whether the boy will want his whole penis. You can have a clue, though, since only 2 in 1000 intact adult males choose to get circumcised.
