  • sof medics do the same thing for IV's and other stuff

  • I dont see the Brain come out xD

  • Where did you take your EMT class?

  • I didn't see any lube on that npa.

  • ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • combi tube next vid? XD

  • He put that nasopharyngeal airway in completely wrong...you can really hurt somebody that way escpecialy if they have trauma in that area.

  • Awww...now I don't know math.

  • that takes GUTS to do that!!!!

  • It would be more impressive to see you insert an OPA instead 8)

  • LOL we learnt this yesterday :)

  • Hi, is there a height requirement to be an EMT/Paramedic? I would really love to be an EMT.

  • @aLphawarrior063007 No, you just have to be physically fit since you're going to be lifting and moving ALOT. One of the girls in my class was about...5'3" I think.

  • get ur finger off the end of it! some lube might help too

  • Please read the videos description

  • I didnt see him lube it up before it was incerted into his nose lol ouch!!!

  • he should have measured it first. if it went farther he would have started gagging lmao.

  • @disismaiemail he did measure it? lol corner of the mouth to angle of the jaw/ear lobe

  • some of u ppl are so over-reacting, its just a NPA...jeez, its not like they intubated him or something!

  • Now try the OPA ;)

  • Someone sounds burnt out...

  • And what makes you think I do something different for a living? I just have a different perspective to you.

  • Oh well, life's shit eh! Done my fair share of crap jobs like that, never fun.

  • @scrumpymonkey being a paramedic and telling a parent that that their child is dead is hilarious. meanwhile the FD was sleeping at their station.

  • We did this in our EMT class, but the teacher wouldn't let us tape it for fear of getting in trouble haha. But, we did buy the guy lunch after he let us put the NPA in lol.

  • Everyone in the class for Tacticle Combat Casuality Care has an NPA given to them and they practice on someone else. HM3 in USN.

  • isn't it great being an emt :)

  • Supergrover1969...I thought the same thing when I watched this!

  • No, only if you like to be daring!

  • If you want to be an EMT/Paramedic, do you ever have to have this done to yourself?

  • @m2inla this video was not developed for training purposes. I think you need to revise your train of thought. We were having fun " under the trained supervision of our instructor". Relax out was only for entertainment purposes only. You need to lighten up slightly.

  • invasive procedures should not be performed for shits and giggles-at least not on you tube. there are manequins for training purposes.

if this guy is so brave, tell him to go to a paramedic skills training station. he will end up with a hole in his throat, chest, and getting a shocked in during syncronous cardioversion.

  • @m2inla get a life loser

  • @scrumpymonkey i appreciate your thoughtful comment..

you changed my mind about this video.

  • @m2inla apologies, the comment was directed at all the village idiots (rwarren1269) on here with no life or sense of humour. I personally thought it was hilarious and have done it on several occasions. if you are going to carry out an invasive procedure on a casuatly it is best to know what it feels like yourself. I've had NG tubes inserted, practiced IV cannulation on colleagues and they on me. I've also been catheterised!

  • @scrumpymonkey in that case, im sure you would let one of my students perform a chrichothyrodomety on you. its easy, all i have to do is take a scalpel and slice your neck open. when i find my landmarks, ill cut a hole into the place you breathe while ramming in a device in that aids your breathing.its hilarious. the last time i had to do it, it was on a baby and she died in the er.

  • ug a nose trumphet...hate getting those used on me during training.

  • Ouch lol

  • I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the person inserting the NPA used an incorrect, and potentially dangerous, technique... the airway is supposed to be inserted at 90 degrees to the plan of the face, to insert it upwards, towards the base of skull as shown, and you run the risk of some very unpleasant and highly unfunny consequences. If you want to experiment on each other, at least know what you are doing :) .. Im a serving Paramedic

  • he will have all the chicks with these skills

  • good thing this guy has no gag reflex.

  • @bubba9163 lol you can do it with a gag reflex cuz it sits behind the uvula

  • Wow it took this long for me to post in regards to me recieving a NP. Yes I am Chris and friends with Ray. As for the day I dont remember if it was a dare or me wanting to fully understand what a patient is going to feel...either or I was down. The pressure was intense but Ray remembered his training. So all in all i suggest for the experiance alone.

  • I volunteered for this in my Emergency First Responder class. Not as bad as I thought it would be!

  • Age of certification differs state by state. Either way, it's 16 or 18. Individual opinions on which is proper, are immaterial.

  • We did that for Combat Lifesaver Training in the Army lol

  • Best way to wake up a drunk.

  • Haha lets see an OPA!

Our trainer asked one of us to volunteer for this in class, we all said no way!

  • WHOA!!!! thats crazy! EMT training was fun! I'm just studying for the National Registry Exam. This will be my third try. >_<

  • @43FIRERESCUE43 Most states require 18. Only a handful of states allow 16.

  • we had a guy do the same thing in my EMT class..

  • im starting whiskey phase next week, cant wait

  • I'm taking an EMT class and one of my friends did the same thing. :)

  • Ive had this done while i was in EMT school. Sterilized the Nasal Airway and kept it!

  • awww makes me teary eye by watching... T,T

  • I'm in EMT training right now and have to do this in a couple weeks haha!

  • idk what the big deal is its an NPA not a OPA??? it would make them sneeze at the most.

  • Where is the unbelievable part?

  • Funny video, probably not Youtube material though. Potential employers probably wouldn't see this as very funny.

  • yep

  • I've tried that, during my training as a corpsman. Definately a test of nerves and the faith you have in your buddies.

  • Haha there's something to learn--sticking an NPA in a mannequin isn't quite the same. :P

  • ahahahaha nice way to learn :D!!

  • I hope you're not the guys who come to my aid...you'd probably stick a 14 or 16 in for an IV jsut for the fun of it.

  • HHH, I didn't learn anything here. I am in EMT training and this video was bullshit.

    New York

  • @EnnCamp pretty sure they weren't actually doing it for teaching purposes, but probably more for the thrill of finding someone dumb enough to let them stick a nasopharyngeal airway up his nose while awake.

  • OMG that had me laughing so hard...hahahaha

  • I am a Paramedic, and this is absolutely hilarious.

  • this should totally be on the show "jackass"!

  • oh! what a trooper!

  • i had this done in nursing school - we practiced on eachother, and i can say that it HURTS! a ng tube is worse!

  • Totally giveing this vid to my professor, he will love! he'll probly have to look at it twice t o make sure it wasn't one of us who did it cause he would be mad if we did this with him there to laugh and enjoy it as well and would make us do it again . LOL ^_^ LOVE EMT training its so much fun, hard, but fun!

  • For the next video go go ET tube!

  • @WhenSheepGoBad haha hopefully that person doesnt have a gag reflex cause theyre gonna throw up real quick

  • @cuetip1212 fyi the NPA used here, is designed for patients who have an intact gag reflex, yes it can make you gag or cough a little, but it won't necessarily make you full blown gag or throw up.

  • @USAFBarney o ok cool, but i was talkin about the ET tube comment =p

  • awesome

  • did you lube it up!?

  • no Surgi-Lube ... better follow protocols !!! :) I bet he felt some pressure ...

  • ummm..... what happened to the head tilt chin lift??

  • @jeattebury thats what i was wondering

  • Fastandfurius, u can take the course now, but u don't get ur emt certificate till ur 18 and have ur diploma. That's what I'm gonna do.

  • the next vid they use a live modified AED to shock him into submission

  • lol dude there is no way in HELL!!! funny though

  • it's called nasopharyngeal airway, not nasal airway

  • @deahnkou

Nasopharyngeal airway... is a nasal airway.. leave it to some smart ass!!

  • LOL that is hilarious. We should try this out in my EMT-B class!

  • dude, you have cajones!!! thanks for the viod---

  • our guy pussed out lol

  • Haha! That looks great..I'm fifteen right now, and hopefully enrolling into an EMT-Basic class as soon as I turn 16. =3

I can't wait to get started!!!!

  • @neighborhooddogfreak EMT-Basic is a good class, and im happy youre interested in taking the course...are you wanting to become a Paramedic?

  • IT is a very rewarding profession but this isnt always the case also you have to be 18 to test for the emt-basic.

  • @lmaddox51 Not everywhere. 16 in Maryland.

  • @lmaddox51 In MOST places.

  • @lmaddox51 Uh, no. i got my EMT-B cert at 16 years old.

  • @lmaddox51 in md you can be 16 to test :)

  • @neighborhooddogfreak same here i cant wait

  • Hahaha! Awesome! A girl in my class tried to insert one in her own nose. She got it in about an inch and a half before calling it quits. I loved my class. We've had so much fun. I'm gonna miss it. We just had our last official class last night. Now all thats left is two MCI classes and a HAZMAT class. =(

  • EMT training looks like so much fun I can't wait to start taking EMT classes

  • @GreenDayisAmazing haha, it is fun, but you got to really pay attention so you pass all the tests....

  • true ... way more fun.

  • hey you might be we will have a lot more fun!!!!

  • Yeah, but you have to finish nursing school and pass state boards. Did you know that many students who start nursing school don't finish because it is so intense?

  • i'm in my last semester...graduate in may!! But i was jk...i almost went to school to be a EMT.

  • I have to go to an interview at a nursing school in February. I'm a little concerned as to what they want to talk about at this interview with several board members of the school. My prerequisites are good up to this point so I'm baffled as to what the conversation will be at this interview.

  • Was that a 32 Frenchy?

  • Comment removed

  • and I thought OC was bad in the LE academy.

  • haha we did same thing in our school plus OPAs lol

  • What the phalangees!!!! lol so funny

  • Wow! awsome. I am in emt school now. My teacher would not be happy if he saw us doing that! Seems fun though!

  • LAWL thats gota hurt

  • LMAO!!!!!! Classic!

  • oh my lantis!! how did that feel?!

  • It feels like somone is scratching your brain, Been there done that

  • ooooooooooooh... unbelievable man

  • Sorry but i aint letting know one try anything like that to me, no iv sticks, no opa's no npa's n def no tubes. leave it to when u do clinicals.

  • Ah then when you do it to a pt its a subjective description. Ive been through CCLS in the army Ive been through intermediate I can describe in great detail to my pts what a procedure will feel like everything from NPA's to IO's

  • I dont need to try them out myself to experience how it feels, all i need to tell my pt's is.. "your going to feel a pinch for a few seconds", "Your going to feel slight discomfort thru your nose" but then again, puttin in Npa's Op'a and tubes, their most likely Altered or unconscious so theres no need for describing. All you need to tell the Pt is a little heads up on how it going to feel or might feel. Its works well for me.

  • I just graduated from emt school.. My instructor stuck one up my noise before.. it felt SO weird.

  • Haha, been there. I had my classmates put an NPA in me once... it was very unpleasant. Not painful, just unpleasant. I could feel the lube trickling into the back of my throat for the rest of the day lol.

  • god please tell me that is volunteer i dont mind being a pin cushion but i dont want a tube ramed up my nose -_-''

  • HAHAHAHA

  • During my Paramedic class we had a guy with no gag reflex. So we dropped a tube... sent a chill down my spine. Didn't inflate, just put it in and then pulled it out.

  • My gag reflex is very week, I can't take a tube, but I can take an OPA. Needless to say, My Basic AND Intermediate class loved me.

  • I've had an NPA put in twice while i was willing 7 awake...it really does suck bad...

  • "SKID MARKS" - the comedy about wannabe Paramedics !!

  • The NPA is for intact gag reflex and an OPA is FOR no gag reflex.. NPA for semi-conscious and unconscious, OPA for unconscious pts.. Contraindications, OPA intact gag reflex and concious pts..NPA is sever head truma and fractured nasal bones..

  • really, you just supposed to only put a NPA or OPA in an unconscious patient. The tip of the NPA goes right past the uvula. Most people would feel a rubber tube in their nose and probably would not like it.

  • poor guy, i didnt see him lube it once

  • you've got it flipped. Gag reflex goes with the NPA. Furtherfore, I've put an NPA in a fully alert person before who was having trouble breathing, its what I've been taught to do to keep the airway open if they have a gag reflex. I just don't understand why in this video the NPA wasn't lubricated. That must have hurt!...

  • Gag reflex goes with OPA not NPA!!! if the patient as a gag reflex you put in an NPA. if the patient does NOT have a gag reflex than an OPA should be inserted furthermore, and OPA is only inserted into a patient that is unconscious or semi conscious!!

  • Comment removed

  • Oops...I was meaning if the pt has a gag reflex, you go with the NPA. Sorry!

  • I would like to see you try and put an OPA in a semi-concious pt you dumb shit

  • I have put an OPA in a semi conscious pt!!! its called a head injury when there is a chance the nasal passage is compromised we cant risk putting a NPA into the pt. If an air way needs to be established and you are running on BLS crew, depending on protocols its either going to be a combi tube or an OPA that has to be used!

and if you actually work as an EMT u probably have seen it or have done it. but due to the comment that u made, ur probably a fake and actually have nothing to do with EMS!

  • THANK YOU EMT11!!! I hate fakers!

  • No problem, I was on edge that day! lol and as you can tell, he hasnt replied to it either..

  • if someone has a head injury i'd put a combi tube cause he's not coming back any time soon en route...

  • There has been a lot of EMT students that have done this. I am one of them. its not the best felling in the world.

    nice video :P

  • Do you have to do it or or get it done on yourself in EMT school?

  • NO, some people do..its all up to you

  • so when I get my EMT training this fall I don't need to let anyone do that to me right?

  • Haha no you will not, I never practiced on a live person, just in the field when they are unconscious.

  • lol thats good to know... I was a little worried there for a sec :-)

  • You will have to get stuck (with needles) by your class mates if you decide to get your Intermediate or Paramedic though... You get used to it fast, but but the thought of someone who's never done it before coming at you with a needle is a bit unnerving.

  • lulz were had by all. let's see him do it with an OPA now :p

  • So what. All medics gotta take that shit. A lot of us had to take way more than once too.

  • What a champ. OMG kudos to you man

  • hahaha omg

  • my nose hurts just from watching it

  • Screw that. I couldn`t take it. lol

  • gag reflex go with the npa insted of the opa haha

  • Comment removed

  • Whoever that guy is inserting that npa is a freakin champ. I am not going to lie.... I'd do'um

  • that guy takes an npa like a pro

  • dam thas crazy..........by the way with a nasal you measure from nostril to earlobe not angle of jaw

  • I tried to convince my instructor to let us do that today.. haha

  • i cant make a fist

  • hahaha! I tried to stay away from the girls in my Nurses Aid class because of stuff like this HA! I cant wait to get out of High School to start EMS training! (-:

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one whose done that. It is uncomfortable as hell. I'll take the sticks any day over the nose hose.

  • for all you guys who are assuming it wasnt lubed you wrong. why put that in? Its not a learning video. come on think before you post!!

  • These emt's are donkeys! what ever happened to the lubrication!

  • Not a big deal. its not like it hurts. i would be more impressed if he inserted an OPA.

  • ouch

    it hurts just watching it

  • hahaha that shit hurts...

  • LOL we wanted to try that in our lab but our instructor would let us haha....ahhhh thats great talk about an interesting class ~EMT-B

  • In my Respiratory therapy class I NTS a student fully conscious.

  • lol im about to start emt school in a couple of weeks. cant wait to see what im getting myself intoXD

  • "In medic school we had to stick eachother with needles."

The feeling of an NPA is NOWHERE near as bad as needle sticks! I voluntarily had one placed in me and it was probably one of the most uncomfortable things I've experienced in life.

  • dude I hope he lubed that NPA first.

  • haha gross.. i was thining about that while taking a first responder class.. but i didn't have the balls
