The types of whale they are hunting currently exist at sustainable levels. Whales are far from extinction at about just 1,000 hunted each year. Even so, are you aware since the creation of this planet numerous animals have gone extinct? This happens because this planet can only sustain a certain level of the living, plus to make room for newer species. Just think, if animals did not go extinct can you image pterodactyls still flying and what their droppings would do to our vehicles?

You can clearly see it is not an electrical cable - it is too flexible.
It appears to be a one inch polyester rope.
Ask any major contractor how heavy a "0000 Gauge" cable is - and that is less than one inch.
The British Standard Gauge is 0/7 or 12.7mm thick.

They boarded in a peaceful manner, holding the letter out to the crew and captain.

For example, a guy, who is complaining your butyric acid smell and intrude into your home with complaint letter because you don't pick up the calls from him, is a home invader.

It was in fact a grappling hook. The netting was a defensive measure taken by the whalers to prevent the Sea Shepherd crew landing bottles of rotten butter on their ship.
