The ones who did keep the ten Commandments of God had eternal life witch is much better than the crap in sesame street and you don't have to pay for it
This scared me when I was little. I was afraid of that fat blue anything muppet and the fact that he just popped up out of nowhere after the green doctor sang a commandment only made me more afraid of him. I had this on video and would never want to watch it because of this song.
It looks like he was trying to scare the Fat Blue muppet like he was going to hit him with the mallet because, everytime Dr. Thad mentioned each commandment of health, the patient kept sitting up on the stretcher and saying each commandment of health once Dr. Thad said it and the orange muppet who had the mallet kept pushing the Fat Blue muppet down like he was saying "lie down and don't sit up." The Fat Blue muppet looked scared at 2:42 and lied down like he was saying "okay I won't sit up."
Pretty sure this was after 1978, since for one, MTV didn't exist until 1980 (and wasn't even in NYC where S.S. was filmed until 1984). And for another, i grew up watching sesame street when it was first on.
i love this song, used to have the video on VHS, hahhaa, guys Im trying to remember the whole topten: Im missing a few songs: 1- count it higher 2- Letter B 3- Do the Rubber duck, 4- ZZblues, 5- Do woo Hop. 6- Around the clock 7- Ten Commandments 8- wet paint. there were actually 11 songs cuz Around the cliock was an extra song,, anyone remembers?
I think the clank the 3rd time he hits the IV bag with the sledgehammer wasnt scripted if you noticed they all got startled and stopped for a brief second. To redo the song just for that one goof would have been pointless
My health teacher actually showed this to us and told us how wrong it actually was. XD Everybody was cracking up when they heard it. Its not as funny now =(
What's crazy is if everyone actually followed the guidelines of this song the rates of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer would fall tremendously. Our GDP (gross domestic product) would be around 300 billion which would cover a comprehensive healthcare plan and then some. Oh well, too bad no one listens to a green puppet with a hand up its ass.
Well, you should at least be grateful that all these old videos are being re-released on DVD. It's awesome for all our children to see all the generations of Sesame Street from the 1960s to today, and modern technology (like DVDs and YouTube) is making it easier for us to do that. In this new age of the "boring" Sesame Street that we see nowadays, it's fun to see old stuff like this being rereleased.
Yes, this skit would look good if Grover was one of the doctors but, I wonder if this is the same Fat Blue muppet as Grover's customer in "Charlie's Restaurant." If it is, Fat Blue here sounds like he is voiced by someone else.
Does anyone remember Count it higher? this was on that tape and there was the Beetles with "Letter B" that was a good song. I Love Vintage Sesame Street.

I am a singer, by the way, and if my band and I sang this song in concert, there should teach a few lessons to the crowd, especially to children.

I don't know why I think this, but this song kind of reminds me of THe Great PRetender, by THe Platters.

It was actually a spoof off a 1958 song called 10 Commandments Of Love done by a group called The Moonglows.

Dr. Thad is named for the person on lead vocals, Thad Mumford. Amazing Mumford also comes from that name, although performed by Jerry Nelson.
