  • I love the face and noise from the german gestapo when i finish his beer: Bleeeaaaauuuh

  • So wtf, everyone dies?

  • There are only two things that can stop Hugo Stiglitz:

    1. Nothing.

    2. Sergeant Wilhelm.

  • i liked the part where almost everyone that watched it argues with other people about what happened

  • I love the moment right after Archie asks for three glasses, not five. The first time i saw it, I thought the german officer just felt offended that he wasnt welcome at the table, but when you understand that was what gave him away, makes this an even "awkwarder" moment

  • "Say 'Auf wiedersehen' to your nazi balls" greatest movie line ever!

  • say Aufweidorsehn to your Nazi balls.

  • 1:34 DAS BOOT!

  • august diehl playing the SS guy is just brilliant. the weird thing about the scene is that stiglitz says the last sentence in english. never made sense to me. stiglitz is german, hellstrom is german, why is he telling him in english? oh and bytheway, if stiglitz was such a famous nazi hunter, why didn't hellstrom regocnize him?

  • Best scene in the show.

  • einer gleissen

  • it suks that hugo stiglitz dies so early in the movie >.<

  • The thumb is "one".

  • When the British spy gets found out the words he uses take "cool" to another level

  • Several historical oops's in the scene, but you gotta like it anyway

  • Alcohol+guns+small enclosed space= awesome

  • I love the dialogue in Quentin Tarantino's movies. It always has a uncomfortable tension to it, which rises, and rises, and then bursts into action!

  • There's a special rung in hell reserved for people who waste good scotch. Seeing as how I may be rapping on the door momentarily... I must say, damn good stuff, Sir.

  • Excellent writing, Kudos to Quentin. Fantastic actors! GREAT scene!!!

  • Hey guys, this movie has some incorrect inconsequential facts about nazi history, therefore it is a bad movie.

  • @timfosho Its not suppose to be a movie about facts. Every retard knows that its not a movie based on reality...

  • @derbigpr500 But how many retards know of sarcasm? I would say most, but I recently ran into one that doesn't.

  • @timfosho And by the way....if you think this is a bad movie, then you missed the point completely. This is one of the best movies ever made. Its art.

  • @derbigpr500 lol. I was being sarcastic. Much like this movie, there is a lot of information in the subtleties of my comments.

  • Grit Brit! When he realized death was inevitable, all he wanted was to go out speaking English and drinking a glass of excellent Scotch whisky.

  • See... Archie Hicox is going to make a fine Magneto.

  • Not every German soldier was a Nazi. Only the SS were. The number one thing that pisses me off about this movie.

  • Shit...ha and this movie isn't really all that anti-Nazi, you dumbfuck Nazi lovers. it simply shows how hitlers assassination SHOULD have taken place

  • wow another modern anti nazi movie for rubes with no knowledge of history. fuck this movie

  • This movie doesn't make nazis look like the animals we perceive in history, but it empahsizes on how normal they were. For example, max celebrating his child birth, frederick chasing shoshana and then getting killed by her. it shows they were human like all of us.

PS. He gave himself away because the german sign for three is thumb, index and middle finger. opposite to how the colonel had it....

  • At 4:27 "Say Auf Wiedersehen to your Nazi Balls!" Best line in the Movie!!!!!

  • theres a special room in hell reserved for the 6 ppl who disliked this.

  • @MovieHound17 it's a rung mate

  • germans are the best , nazi germans were the best

  • oh god Michael Fassbender is so fiiiiiiiine.

  • Smashing good exit.

    God save the Queen!

  • I love movies that make me cringe, they make u all intense and wondering whos gonna die and stuff, a lot of other movies never let teh good guys die yet almost all of em died in this one

  • IM not German nor American but i hate seeing americans treat germans with disrespect because of the past, Nazi's were monsters but americans were to, look at what the americans did to indians and no one looks back at the murder and rape of that

  • That's why you always have to where a cup.

  • Long live the British, he may have given himself away, but mad until the end, Glorious British.

  • Um i dont really understans how he gave himself away, can somebody explain please?

  • Cause the german officer knows many german nazis dont drink scotch.and if they do drink scotch its def not from scotland.but the british guy luvs his scotch and plain wuter.!

  • Cause the german officer knows many german nazis dont drink scotch.and if they do drink scotch its def not from scotland.but the british guy luvs his scotch and plain wuter.!and at 1:12 if u look at his face he just realized it too.

  • @MovieHound17

maybe, but it's probably because he gave the wrong number on his hand. In America, it's the ring finger, middle finger, and index finger. In Germany, and too all Germans, its the thumb, index finger, and middle finger.

  • @eatmashorts1212 I Know now cause briget von said it in an interview.and it makes more sense

  • @eatmashorts1212 thats exactly right. The blonde actress (who survives the shootout) explains it later in the movie to the Basterds.

  • @TommyKaRambo He did his three wrong. Hammersmark will explain it later.

  • @shadowlord325 thanks!!

  • @TommyKaRambo they explain it later in the movie

  • "Monkeyshines". That word needs to be used more. Please, try to incorporate it into your conversation, the world is missing out!

  • omg this guy is in the next x-men movie playing eric!

  • the MP40 ROCKS!

  • Five people got shot in the nuts.

  • @machado231097 Apparently, when Germans count with their fingers they start with the thumb, whereas British people end with the thumb.

  • @lolivampire that doesnt make sense, Germans use their thumb, pointer, and middle finger but british ppl use their pointer, middle, and ring finger

  • 4:29 the dum mothha fucker behind him shit his pants

  • and yeah i could never figure out whose side the bartender is on, if you slow it down when he starts shooting he's clearly shooting at the basterds and one of them kills him but then when he gets shot he's pointing his shotgun at the enlisted men, maybe he was just trying to kill them all in order to protect the barmaid? i dunno

  • i always wondered if hellstrom bought the piz palu story or if he knew all along, tho he does seem to have a genuine moment of realization when hilcox orders the three drinks. you gotta love that awkward silence when he puts it together, realizes he's going to die and resolves to do his duty, and how von hammersmark's voice quivers when she thanks eric for the drink she knows they're fucked

  • ooohhh august diehl........

  • @armtinjoe . Ja they exsist Warstiner has them and you caqn buy your own at the Old Crow in Sandy Springs Georgia.

  • HAHAHA that fuckin kraut got owned!!!

  • that guy next to the major is th emost hardcose basterd. he shot him in the balls and then continue to stab the back of his head knowing he was goign to die.. so hardcore!!

  • looks like lil max will grow up as an orphan he he he he

  • 4:26

  • I noticed the SS guy was drinking from a beer boot......I said SHIT! those things really do exist!!!

    thanks BEERFEST!!

  • its so crazy how all this happend because he put up the wrong 3 fingures, quentin terentino is a genious.

  • Michael Fassbender is such a great actor!

  • Note how all of the people who begin shooting pick their targets (i.e. enemies), and hit them, even during a chaotic firefight within an enclosed space. Then toward the end, ol' Wilhelm just says eff-it and sprays the whole room with a Schmeisser, killing 3 ppl, 2 of which were friendlies (the barmaid and the officer to his left). So - for being a team-killer, Wilhelm has to die, period

  • Say Auf wiedersehen to your Nazi balls!!

  • 0:51-1:32 a very awkward silence

  • For anyone who didn't notice, when he asked for three glasses he used his index finger, his middle finger, and his ring finger. In Germany, they use their thumb, index finger, and middle finger. That is how he gave himself away. Not the story.

  • plus i never got that the gestapo major believed the british soldiers fake story, he got shot cuz he made it obvious he wasnt german but he said before that his weird accent was because he was from piz palu, which is in the southern part of switzerland..so where he claimed he was from didnt make him german

  • the british guy shouldnt have said anything, im an american and i speak some german and even i would have noticed his weird accent

  • @AgentMorris94 "say [goodbye] to your Nazi balls"

  • What did he say? Something in to your nazi ballz.

  • @AgentMorris94 Auf wiedersehen, as in "Farewell to your Nazi balls"

  • How did the Major(nazi) know the guy was truly an imposter after ordering 3 glasses???

  • @Drewandy22

0:47 To say "3" using hand gestures the British use middle 3 fingers, whereas the rest of Europe -tend- to use index, middle and thumb (source: I live in Britain and work with Germans).

Also, this scene plays homage to "The Great Escape" :-)

  • That's the exact moment when every guy is just like Ohhh f**k Me that would be painful

  • Insane scene, love it so much :))

  • @goodneighbor616

I think it's obvious: a group full of Hugo Stiglizes wouldn't be nearly as dramatically interesting. It's like a great-tasting stew. You don't fill it with a bunch of sausage, you put some roast beef and potatoes and carrots and other shit in there and let it marinate until it tastes just right.

  • "A thousand year german reich!"

lol more like the 11 and a half year reich

  • Poor Max :(

  • Oops sorry... Accident I swear!

    Anyways it's Marissa! :D

  • I've always wished that there was a brief moment in the scene when Hans Landa investigates the bar where Landa would make some sort of comment about Hellstrom. The two apparently were aware of each other (they do, after all, meet briefly in the dining room scene with Goebbels and Shoshanna), and they're so much alike in their personality and perceptive skills that it seems a shame that you don't get any synergy between them written into the movie. It's the one thing that's always bugged me.

  • @amjabas: how does using your middle finger when saying 3 give you away????

  • @ninjaboomboom watch the movie ninja, they explain it in the scene after-

  • its sad that wilhelm gets killed. fucking bitch shot him !

  • he gets caught cos wen he orders a drink he uses his middle fingers haha geniouse

  • i love this movie it makes me want to root for the nazi, And i dont even know why

  • why the fuck there is a shooting chain reaction?

  • all this drinking and smoking makes me want to drink and smoke

  • I seen this film about 100 times, i never get wtf happens in this scene, is the french barman on the british or the germans side?

  • @danielaung69 Bar side?.. Fighting for his life rofl?

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

  • "Say auf wiedersehen to your nazi balls"

  • "Well if this is it old boy, I hope you don't mind if I go out speaking the king's.

    what dialouge.

  • Ha,I grew up watching Hugo Stiglitz movies and apparently Tarantino did too lol I love those little references in his movies..

  • 4 people had their balls shoot of and then stabbed in the neck XD

  • 4 viewers had their balls blown off.

  • SRGT HUGO STIGLITZ IS THEE BEST!!!!

  • I love Stiglitz!!

  • Wilheilm was obviously using aim bot.

  • Can I have the rest of that bottle of scotch?

  • Stiglitz deserved a better death. (sorry if I butchered his name)

  • Just like CoD5, the goddamn MP40 beats everything.

  • @SogekingDaBawce but Wilhelm totally was using Stopping Power :)

  • It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt....

    That was some crazy shit.

  • why there a card on dat guys head

  • @pokehacker538 they were all playing a bar game where it requires a card with a name on your forehead

  • @pokehacker538 it's a game called 'who am I?' you ask questions, the other player can only answer with a yes or no answer and you have to work out what the name on the card is.

  • Three people here are Nazis

  • long live the MP40

  • So did the gestapo major not recognize hugo? i thought everyone in the german army knew of him for killing 13 other gestapo majors.

  • @theblizz23 they know the name, u tryin to tell me that ALL the troops have seen him? na

  • @adamspun He's a major. And it shows Hugo Stiglitz's face in a newspaper. Yup.

  • The Major's attitude, knowing the blatant situation, kept his cool like Hans Landa. These Nazis in this movie have a cool way of going through things.

  • It suprises me that Major never knew that Hugo, especially how famous he is for killing Nazis, was apart of the Basterds and was not a Luietinent. Whatever.

  • Wait a second, Stiglitz was knifing that Major at 4:33, but the Major then miraculously ends up on the chair at 4:42?

  • Why did stigliz go melee

  • @kaindrg because hes Hugo Stiglitz

  • the english officer took an amazing amount of damage before giving out

  • Lol he calmly says "why do you have your walther pointed at my testicles?"

  • If I was the Gestapo dude I woulda just excused myself then summoned some nearby soldiers to capture the spies.

  • I like it how in this films, the nazis and the english know several languages, are polite, drink properly,... as the Americans, espacially Aldo Raine, represent the basic redneck fucktards x) just there for "killin some nazi", ain't it ;)

  • Brilliantly written and acted.

  • fuck all the germans theyre all the same stubborn and so proud of what? arrogant fuckers. excuse moi if u r one but ive met 5 different guys from there and theyre the same kind of ppl.

  • @Narcaco you need to get a life.

  • @Narcaco Kinda harsh to determine a whole nation of 80.000 just because you met 5 antisocial idiots, don't you think? By all means, the Germans can't be patriotic anymore without fearing to be called nazis. How can they be truly proud of what they are then?

  • @Kiara007 i hope u are not german, but since u ask they can be more charming ppl if they propose to , instead to play the i know it all...i mean most of them of course not the 80 million... but again if u aint german just stay a couple of days with one and ull understand what i mean...thats why they all come to argentina, they meet the good manners and good ppl here.

  • @Kiara007 Now that is the riddle, isn't it? Germans need some way to redefine themselves, to separate themselves from the black mark the Nazis stained them with. When people think Germany, they think Nazis...or beer for those who have visited. In a way: Germany currently is an ideal spot for 'redemption'. They are humbled and have something to prove. I'm happy with how human they are portrayed in this movie as opposed to most war films. They humanize the German soldier while demonizing Nazis.

  • @CountryBoyRoby great comment

  • @Narcaco Humans are proud and stubborn. It's a flaw of our species. Sorry to tell you, but people are like that everywhere. Each country is not defined by their traits, mankind is. Look at humanity from a purely clinical perspective: would you not destroy us based on our bloody history alone thus forgetting all the good? I have a German friend and he is both proud and stubborn, but also one of the most generous man you could ever meet as well as loyal.

  • @Narcaco

Sorry, but how can you judge a whole nation by just five people you met? I am a German and proud of it, because it is a beautiful country with great people. Don't judge a country only by its past - it's 2011 now, and believe me, Germans are aware of their history, more than so many other nations who rather try to hide or glorify their dark past. Yeah, there are idiots living here, or people I dislike - but we're not all arrogant! Please think before you insult others!

  • @ToshizouHijikata I agree.

  • @ToshizouHijikata Was just looking over these cooments when I saw what he wrote, I wont bothor responding to him but just to let you know, I'm Irish, I've worked as electrician for a number of German clients and I have met them in France on holiday, I have to say there are the nicest, friendliest and most hospitable people I have met. not everyone thinks like that of Germany, I'm looking forward to visiting.

p.s the French, not so nice.

  • @ToshizouHijikata to be honest i like germans! BUT i really like you guys because of what you did to the jews in the past. The Jews deserved it! they got what they really deserved they had it coming to them! and you guys make great music too! both you and the dutch :)

  • @ToshizouHijikata exactly, germans are not the only ones who had somewhat of a "dark past"...cambodia, russia, china, japan etc...its just known more b/c of the size of the war it got so the nazis are more "known" than all the other nations that committed the same crimes by dictators running a country...the stereotype of germans pisses me off

  • @burgersforreal....don't forget Africans. Those people have been fucked over and starved for decades by puppet dictators who allowed corporations and foreign governments to rape their country of natural resources. See Congo see Rwanda see Libya see Ivory Coast and on and on.....crazy world greedy governments evil people. We're all guilty to some degree.

  • Comment removed

  • @ToshizouHijikata I live in germany. I forgive you all for the past. But god-dammit can you please learn how to drive?

  • @ToshizouHijikata NAZZZZI!!!! just kidding.

  • @ToshizouHijikata 4 million dead in ww1 60 in ww2, without you starting it, it wouldn't have happened if it wasnt for germany, how could a whole nation listen to a guy who wants to kill all jews/minorities/defects and he wasn't even apart of the master (arian) race, you were crazy and retarded, you guys are cool now because we rebuilt your democracy, without US, Britain, and Russia (yeah they were bad too) who knows how many more innocents would have died

  • @christianj125 Germany was not the only nation responsible for WW1 - and if Germany wouldn't have been blamed for it, maybe there wouldn't even have been WW2. I don't want to say that the holocaust wasn't one of the most horrible crimes ever committed by humans - of course it was, and it may never happen again. But Germans are well aware of that, while many nations try to hide their dark past! And it wasn't the German people living today, we are not evil or something.

  • @christianj125 By the way, there was German resistance during WW2, ever heard of that? Not everyone agreed with Hitler. And many soldiers were not bad persons, they just fought for their country, not for some insane ideas. Many didn't even know the whole truth, and that is a fact. My grandfathers both fought in the war, because they HAD TO. And what about Hiroshima/Nagasaki? What about Dresden or Würzburg? These were crimes, too! But I don't blame people living today!

  • @christianj125 Oh, and Russia, USA and Great Britain did not only "rebuild our democracy", they separated our country and killed countless people at the Wall. Is that a great idea? Definitely no! It was the German people who brought down the Wall in a peaceful revolution. What happened in WW2 was terrible, but it could have happened in any other country, under the right circumstances. Many crimes from all around the world show that. Do you even know any Germans? We're not bad, believe me!

  • @christianj125

Are you aware that Hitler was a dictator? There wasn't a lot that people could do kinda like whats happened\happening in libya

  • @Whokilledmarilyn182 Not even close. Yeah there is a crazy terrorist and murderous dictator. 1 Germans didn't have a militant resistance like Lybia. 2 He didn't cause a war that killed 60 million people. 3 He didn't cause a war that killed 60 million people. 4 Yes I know I stated it 2 times, that's the point. 5 Don't blame us for splitting up Germany, just be greatful that the entire country didn't fall to Soviets 6 If you don't get your pride of Germany from its past, where does it come from?

  • @christianj125

why are we fighting over this?

Lets just leave it with: August diehl is hot

  • @Whokilledmarilyn182 Absolutely and 100% true. :)

Even the most radical German haters in the internet have to admit that August Diehl is simply and incredibly HOT. :D

  • @ToshizouHijikata

Thank you! Most people i know think i'm a creeper for thinking he's hot!

  • @Whokilledmarilyn182 No thanks, I am a guy, how about Diane Kruger is hot.

  • @christianj125

how about this they're both very attractive human beings!

  • @ToshizouHijikata In fact, I know a few German people and they're always very nice and unpretentious. And nice to have a drink with as well.

  • Best movie scene ever!!! I adore this part!

  • This is one of the few American films I enjoyed. Really good one.

  • @zombiedrd you need to get out more no offense

  • It should have been hugo, donny, and aldo at the end kicking the shit out of landa.

  • Who was doing the head stabbing?

  • @OdessaMW hugo stiglitz

  • WHO THE HELL WAS THE NAZI LOVER THAT CLICKED ON THE DIS-LIKE BUTTON!?!?

  • @sindrake7 Very likely some retarded teenager who couldn't resist the temptation of getting a little attention by being the only one to do so.

  • well actually...the woman with hat pretend to be dead and shoot the german soldier when liutenant aldo was talking to the german soldier

  • why didnt the guy sitting beside the major point the gun at his head

  • @phokangaroo he was trying to keep a low profile, to avoid getting attention from the bartender and the real nazis in the background. and why he shot him in the balls not the head? because Hugo was crazy and didnt care

  • He should have known.. Germans dont drink scottch!
