"We want low cost, and safe travel" Do you have any idea what it costs to run an airline? over 50% of the costs in aviation is fuel and that is only going up, lower fares mean lower standards of maintenance and service, that much is clear. Its people like you that choose airlines merely by their price and yet complain when airlines go under and people loose their jobs. Pick an airline for their customer service and quality of aircraft, not by their fair specials.

@WaxingRadiance It would take weeks to cross the pacific via ship and cost just as much if not more than an airline. Air travel is very important part of many peoples lifestyle and will never be cut back as a result of carbon emissions. The increased use of public transport and alternate sources of power such as solar and nuclear is the answer to reduce carbon emissions.
