So soon after the second world war, that patient's life was not that unusual. Only in modern times, has perversion been studied and things like 1960's free love been found to've been wrong and inappropriate. . There was probably"no crime committed" in those days. It certainly would not be prove-able in court because the victim was too young to be a true-telling witness. . Check-out Quincy MD, he uncovered a lot of bad practice from the 60's (& 70's) era. . I've not a clue about this particular woman, but I have a friend with DID and while it didn't used to be this way, as of now: all of the Alters speak. They live in her "mindscape" a safe house in her head. They all know each other. She can also become co-conscious with certain personalities, which means they are both there, though one of them has control of the body. From what I understand, there are things that develop later after someone begins to really understand their own mind.
That's WEIRD. We all learned in AP Psych that Lithium bicarbonate is SUPPOSED to work for treatment of bipolar disorder or DID. I know because I just took the AP exam today, but now I wish we students were taught more about abnormal psych. Can't wait to bet my MA in Psych!
I am a marriage and family therapist and I have seen individuals disassociate. I know that the disorder is controversial in terms if whether the psychological community accepts this disorder as real. When you see it, it can look like acting. I'm really not sure what I think about it. Whether it is real or not, I believe it is a coping skill for trauma.
What confused me about this was that, to my knowledge, in DID the separate personalities don't often know about each other (at least the 1st doesn't know about the 2nd but the 2nd may know about the 3rd etc). The part where she talks about the woman waking up with a man she doesn't know seems to reflect that, or at least reflect the point that two personalities can't occur at once. But she also talked about two personanlities communicating with each other. Doesn't that contradict the point??
@TheAverageFox Often in DID, most "alternate personalities" don't know one another in the beginning. As a person ages, as (s)he seeks help because of some dysfunctional part of life, or if a current situation emotionally "triggers" another "part" (who dealt with similar feelings in the past) then different "parts" begin to relate memories, emotions,& points of view. Talk therapy enables connecting & sharing past & present information which causes the breaking down of the amnesiac barriers.
100% of the cases i have read about involve the parents sexually abusing the child and allowing friends and strangers to do the same. this is obviously happening a lot. imagine how many other kids are going thru this right now that we will never know about. it makes my cry and my heart is seriously hurting right now. i cant sleep/

@turtles12 Dissociative Identity Disorder is real I suffer with it on a day to day basis and small minded people like you that claim it dosnt exist are the cause of many of us suffering abuse. Open your eyes to the reality in front of you. Just because you dont suffer with it, doesnt mean it doesnt exist.
@turtles12 Really? Then why have I been having multiple personalities before having any psychological involvement? Over years later I am only now getting psychological involvement, so how on earth could my psychologist have implanted it into me if I've only just started seeing one. You are small minded and clearly have no respect or education on this subject.
MPD, or DID does NOT exist. The idea of multiple personality, is sensationalizing garbage; by fanatical, nutty psychiatrists, and spun off and capitalized on by Hollywood drama. Funny that not a single person has it, until some whack job psychologist, ( who also may believe that the client had babies with space aliens they ate, but forgot) tells the poor unsuspecting victim they have MPD. It's documented, that shrinks use hypnosis, drug overdose, brainwashing, food deprivation to convince.
Wow, these people should see the shrink that saw the people in our bin here. He seemed like he could diagnose everyone in five minutes. All the men have PTSD and all the women are borderlines. Solution-put everyone on as many different drugs as possible! Anti depressants, nicotine patches, sleeping pills. LOL.
@missanna208 Mental illness dont really exist, as well as good or evil, its all a business of this dilusional system to keep sheeps all lined up with conduct patterns which define what should be called good or bad, sane or insane...

most people in the psychology business dont give enough credence to D.I.D and Trauma Based Mind Control...its very real and more widespread than most would believe.
most people with this disorder typically get the label bi-polar, and schiz. However; i wasn't able to watch the video; as your scarf matches your chair; thus i thought i might end up with a seizure! People if your going to make a video make sure your furniture and clothes don't match! Sounds like the girl you are referring too had a pretty crappy life; for that i am sorry. but you shouldn't wear that scarf as you may distract her as it did me.
I dated a woman once who exhibited what I thought were extreme mood swings. That's what I thought before she confided in me that as a young girl her mother would allow an uncle to sexually abuse her. I'm not a doctor but I can put two and two together just as well. Later she along with a friend of hers tried to explain what I had already suspected.
well i dunno about the "illuminati" i do know about the CIA..."they" use people who are prone to dissociation for their mind control experiments. they rape and torture children, cause them to dissociate, then use "triggers" to call forth the different "alters" which they control...real life manchurian candidates. thats what it has to do with the "illuminati" (or the Nazi CIA)

not at all. In DID you are lucid and just have completely different beings of self. Schizophrenia is where the brain works abnormally so the perseption of the world is messed up. LIke hearing voices or seeing hallucinations. They also have extreme issues communicating with other people and much of their speech may be garbled. DID has no such brain issues and can talk quite well, just in different personalities. :)
My mental problems first began with PTSD symptoms. What happened after this, well I had no knowledge of what PTSD was and the symptoms caused my emotions lets say to go out of control. I experienced Dream and Vision symptoms and my thoughts where Illusional meaning it was like I was on a destiny. This of course led to stress and I began to hear voices and weak visuals and these combined symptoms made me become Delusional...I was first diagnosed as having Schizophrenia and acute Paranoia.
Well i drink alot, spend shit loads of money when on emotional highs on clothes i dont need. typical of a teenager,
cant understand why she was been diagnosed with DID? Sounds more like bipolar? I hope its not just because sexual abuse was thrown into the mix. DID are stereotyped because - for some reason - it is assumed all people who suffer from DID suffered from abuse.
We watched this in my Abnormal Psychology class today. My professor show this to us today. Love my professor for posting this. Thanks for posting in class today:)
Well, I was thinking I have DID, but, it's not this serious, though I havea lotof the symtoms (I have alot of memory gaps, people are telling me I said or dosome things I don't remember doing...)
ive been diagnosed with did and schizophrenia, pending on the results i get when i go for my next examination i could have either, an im not going to lie im fuckin terrified because both are pretty severe apparently, any advice?
I have DID, it is not made up by all means, I'm in treatment and therapy. It's so hard to explain... I was abused as a child by my father... all I'm going to say.
What that poor woman went through as a child was pure hell, plain and simple. No wonder she created and actualized other personalities. My God, the very people who are supposed to love, care and keep her safe basically used her as an "object" more bluntly a "sex toy". Quite honestly, I'm surprised she didn't follow that pattern of suicide, I'm glad she didn't.
Sad. These are real people with some real problems not just stats in a book...
Hi MetalManDan7: For people to perpetrate such "abuses and crimes" against a child is just unthinkable and unfathomable to most of us. It wouldn't surprise me, if these individuals were abused in some way themselves as it is a pattern that just keeps repeating itself until someone breaks it. There really not seeing their child as a human being, just an object to manipulate to their whim. This appears to be an extreme case, sad.
i made a video and uploaded in youtube....plzzz type action11heroine in the search engine and the video called "i think i love you" is the one...it might help
It exists. They have proven this through brain imaging. Many cases are faulty or misdiagnosed but the brain imaging does not lie. I have DID. To me, the disorder sounds ridiculous even though I know it exists and I have it. I came on here tonight because I've been having probs with it a lot recently. I did'nt want to feel alone so I was hoping looking at videos of others would help. You really can't imagine what it's like having another person sucking your brain for dominance.
The reason why you think this disorder sounds ridiculous but at the same time you also know it exists is because, well I got the same problem too. Don't let the Dream symptoms overcome you. Dreams are based on realities, so remember that. Have fun, get lost in them. And the reason I believe you know why DID exists, hmm, you know it's real that's why.
About this dominant person you mentioned. A Sociopath? Sociopaths are wolves and DIDs are lambs, remember that.
I cannot answer your question since the education that I use is from my own life experiences. I also learned from Doctors and from other individuals who have DID.
When I was young I grew up among Sociopaths and so I learned a great deal about their behavior. I was first a victim of pedophilia and cultist actions. The Roman Catholic Church. I also grew up among organized criminals. Irish gangsters and the LCN. They of course were Sociopaths. Sociopaths in words trigger and become Psychopaths.
Sociopaths develop that way, but psychopaths are born and not made according to current literature. How did the Catholic Church tie in with gangsters? What's LCN?
The Sociopaths I knew began Manifesting at a young age (around age nine) due to stress and this Manifestation led to Sociopath behavior. When a Sociopath becomes excited or upset they transform into Psychopaths next. It's simular to what happens to an individual who is inflicted with DD or DID when they trigger and begin dissociating. For a Sociopath they trigger and become a Psychopath.
The RCC and gangsters? I got hit by more than one lightening strike lets say. The LCN is the Italian mafia.
I don't understand your question. If your talking about DID individuals somewhat co-existing with Sociopaths, well Sociopaths draw towards DIDs due to a mental attraction. Sociopaths will notice qualities in a DID's behavior which they also possess and in words they will intrude into a DID's life and associate with them. Sociopaths though will use a DID for selfish purposes of course in the same way that they will use a normal individual or other Sociopaths.
Interesting...but my question was directed towards the mafia, Irish gangsters, Catholic Church etc. and how they network with each other for exploitative purposes.
The RCC and these organized crime figures were not connected.
My father has DD due to infancy trauma and his father, my grandfather, well he had DD also. To describe, we became DDs because of the symptom actions of other DDs. In words infants are too young to understand the real reason why that person who is cradling them is behaving so erratic.
My father and I gained many Sociopath friends while growing up (the Socio Dissociate medical attraction). The RCC was all together another story.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It happens when one stops dealing with emotions and facing reality for an extended amount of time until so much unprocessed emotions make the task of returning to self quite an ordeal. This is a type of repression. It is curable, the condition, the process of which involves cleaning out the over-cluttered mind and finding resolution. I never hear psychologists on youtube reveal this aspect. Why is that?
How are you so sure about the causes of the disorder? Upon what data are your conclusions based? And what exaclty is an "over-cluttered mind?" And how does one "clean it?" How does one achieve "resolution?" This all strikes me as empty psycho-babble.
I went through it, how's that for credibility! I'm not going to write a book for you, but that's the short story version of what happens. Also, I grew up with an emotionally abusive father, so that is a large factor. Guess I should've added that. Yes there are environmental factors, but it comes down to the fact that I stopped dealing with my emotions when it became very painful to live in the conditions I grew up in.
It has been my experience that there is no real treatment for DID, neither with medication or therapy. As this woman says, no medication really helps, and therapy can be extremely difficult.
If you have been "cured" I find it questionable whether you had DID at all.
The repression of memories and emotion is quite a different thing from the creation and actualization of a whole other personality.
There is still so much that we do not understand about the mind, the brain. Of course there are not concrete answers for how to "clean" the mind. It's not like cutting out a tumor. Furthermore, due to neuroplasticity, there are many ways that one could "clear" one's mind--through repetition of a certain behavior/thought process in order to repave neuronal networks. When recovering alcoholics go through those 12 steps, they are constantly trying to steer neuronal connections in a new way@thibs44
@thibs44 Actually that explanation is the best I've read so far. Thanks quartercherries. It is caused by repressed memories and emotions, when it becomes too overwhelming it can develop into it, makes perfect sense to me.
@thibs44 Well if you look at the case of Sybil, the most famous case of DID, her illness resulted in years of abuse. And because her original personality could not handle the trauma, she created new one to deal with the emotions and fears she couldn't. And psychologists cure this disease by joining each personality to the original one by one, as Dr. Wilbur did with Sybil.
in the bollywood movie, the actress turns into a ghost which is actually her another personality. She's really scary at that time. till the end it is a suspence of who is the ghost. she will turn into the ghost as she can relate her childhood memories with the ghost.
If you want to have how horror Dissosiative Identity Disorder can be....i suggest you watch the bollywood (hindi) indian movie "Bhool Bhulaiya". I heard it was a real story that happened in South India. It will really impress you (might scare you as well) if you are keen in DID.
thats like me minus the $ spending, drinking and sex. i take 2 medications but they dont help much they just make me sleepy.

I have DID, it is not made up by all means, I'm in treatment and therapy. It's so hard to explain... I was abused as a child by my father... all I'm going to say.

where is this video from? I am a student and would love to see the whole video.

You really can't imagine what it's like having another person sucking your brain for dominance.
ahbitterdregs 2 years ago 2
ahbitterdregs, I have DID.

I dont belive there is such thing as 'sociopath' in the DSM? Was is not removed? ;)

Mardasee 2 years ago
Sociopaths develop that way, but psychopaths are born and not made according to current literature. How did the Catholic Church tie in with gangsters? What's LCN?
DoctorTDurden 2 years ago
The Sociopaths I knew began Manifesting at a young age (around age nine) due to stress and this Manifestation led to Sociopath behavior. When a Sociopath becomes excited or upset they transform into Psychopaths next. It's simular to what happens to an individual who is inflicted with DD or DID when they trigger and begin dissociating. For a Sociopath they trigger and become a Psychopath.
The RCC and gangsters? I got hit by more than one lightening strike lets say. The LCN is the Italian mafia.
Mardasee 2 years ago
Ah I see, thanks for the quick reply.
Do you know how these different groups network with each other?
DoctorTDurden 2 years ago
I don't understand your question. If your talking about DID individuals somewhat co-existing with Sociopaths, well Sociopaths draw towards DIDs due to a mental attraction. Sociopaths will notice qualities in a DID's behavior which they also possess and in words they will intrude into a DID's life and associate with them. Sociopaths though will use a DID for selfish purposes of course in the same way that they will use a normal individual or other Sociopaths.
Mardasee 2 years ago
Interesting...but my question was directed towards the mafia, Irish gangsters, Catholic Church etc. and how they network with each other for exploitative purposes.
DoctorTDurden 2 years ago
The RCC and these organized crime figures were not connected.
My father has DD due to infancy trauma and his father, my grandfather, well he had DD also. To describe, we became DDs because of the symptom actions of other DDs. In words infants are too young to understand the real reason why that person who is cradling them is behaving so erratic.
My father and I gained many Sociopath friends while growing up (the Socio Dissociate medical attraction). The RCC was all together another story.

Why is that?
quartercherries 2 years ago
How are you so sure about the causes of the disorder? Upon what data are your conclusions based? And what exaclty is an "over-cluttered mind?" And how does one "clean it?" How does one achieve "resolution?" This all strikes me as empty psycho-babble.
thibs44 2 years ago 16
I went through it, how's that for credibility! I'm not going to write a book for you, but that's the short story version of what happens. Also, I grew up with an emotionally abusive father, so that is a large factor. Guess I should've added that. Yes there are environmental factors, but it comes down to the fact that I stopped dealing with my emotions when it became very painful to live in the conditions I grew up in.
quartercherries 2 years ago
It has been my experience that there is no real treatment for DID, neither with medication or therapy. As this woman says, no medication really helps, and therapy can be extremely difficult.
If you have been "cured" I find it questionable whether you had DID at all.
The repression of memories and emotion is quite a different thing from the creation and actualization of a whole other personality.
iheartkungpow 2 years ago
There is still so much that we do not understand about the mind, the brain. Of course there are not concrete answers for how to "clean" the mind. It's not like cutting out a tumor. Furthermore, due to neuroplasticity, there are many ways that one could "clear" one's mind--through repetition of a certain behavior/thought process in order to repave neuronal networks. When recovering alcoholics go through those 12 steps, they are constantly trying to steer neuronal connections in a new way@thibs44
kelleymiller4 1 year ago
@thibs44 Actually that explanation is the best I've read so far. Thanks quartercherries. It is caused by repressed memories and emotions, when it becomes too overwhelming it can develop into it, makes perfect sense to me.
MsAgnosticatheist 10 months ago
@thibs44 Well if you look at the case of Sybil, the most famous case of DID, her illness resulted in years of abuse. And because her original personality could not handle the trauma, she created new one to deal with the emotions and fears she couldn't. And psychologists cure this disease by joining each personality to the original one by one, as Dr. Wilbur did with Sybil.
Bright1592 10 months ago
in the bollywood movie, the actress turns into a ghost which is actually her another personality.

Action11Heroine 3 years ago
to all the ppl sayin "course i know what schizophrenia is! it's when you have more than one personality!" -> FALSE!
Dissociative Identity Disorder ≠ Schizophrenia !!!!!
Marthefolia 3 years ago
She said the personalities can talk to each other. Can they also see each other, like in "Fight Club", or is that all fiction?

DID is not schizoprenzia. They do not see things outside their body, not delustional.
