Dude, my opinion: All of the haters here that said you sucked are wrong. they're completely mad and jealous of you. You have high skill, you're a very good drummer, great technique, AWESOME drum skit it sounds perfect, great camera, great camera view & changes, shows your footwork which is great, a few mistakes, but you're great. Oh man! now I got it (I think) for example in the chorus part the doubles on the bass drum is only in the first 4/4 then you have another 4/4 in 16th notes.. if you see the fisrt chorus you can notice that you go on with the doubles where you should have changed to 16th notes.

As far as syncing goes, I think in the beginning I messed up and it sounds like I put my drum audio a bit ahead of the song audio. Then on top of that, I did NOT practice this song enough, so instead of the parts coming naturally, I had to concentrate to remember them and was constantly fighting to stay solid with the tempo. Example: the part around 2:00 was awful...it's as if I wasn't even listening to the song. I haven't redone any of my covers yet, but this one will likely be the first.

Apart from that, I have not the experience that you have in drums but this kind of symphony songs are a pain in the ass listening to the drums in the record, they never had a clear drum sounds on the albums, except TDWOT. And Jason dont have drum videos

Yeah, as I've said in response to other comments, I leave this cover up as a reminder to myself of how NOT to rush putting one up...this is by far the worst cover I've done in all 40+ videos I've posted to YouTube; I was just too anxious to try out all the different camera angles that I did a shoddy job of the whole production.

It's not only "not one of my best," but I think it's easily the worst I've put up of every cover I've ever done! Haha...I'd take it down except it's a good reminder of what not to do in future covers. I just got hasty because I was excited about my first "foot cam," and should've redone it, lol.

As harsh as your comment may be, I completely agree. Of all the covers I've posted on YouTube, I consider this my worst (by far, actually), and apparently the YouTube community agrees, based on the rating, lol!

I think I jumped the gun - I was too excited to post my first video with a "foot cam," but had I been a little more patient I would have realized it wasn't the best cover and would have re-done it, which I do plan to do sometime in the future.

You know, I've never considered doing Opeth, but since you mention it I might give it a shot - never been a HUGE fan of them, but I like the album Ghost Reveries and some of the stuff from Blackwater Park. I just listened to Deliverance...that's a dang long song! If I do cover it I'll let you you know, and it'll definitely be better than this Symphony X cover, which I honestly think may be the most lacking one I've uploaded to date...lol.

Wow awesome! Yeah it is a long one. I just think a lot of Opeth's drumming is really cool. I personally think that your best drum video is Jordan Rudess' Ra. I found that pretty spectacular.

I've been asked this before, and really it's because most of it it is cheap or bought on sale! The set itself is a Tama Swingstar, (entry-to-mid level set), all the cymbals except the 4 crashes (2 of them bought on sale) and hi-hats ($40 at a pawn shop) are cheaper stuff, like Wuhan chinas, a B8 Pro ride, and lower-end splashes. I got the Roto Toms from a friend for cheap. Probably put like $2,200 into it over 8 years, so not too bad if you think about it. :) Thanks for the comment!
