  • there actully is both a donkey kong 2 and donkey kong jr. game & watch. ive seen both.

  • so, there really is no DK2? damn, when i was a kid i always thought that there was. i mean, they have DK3 where some guy, not mario or jumpman, is spraying the insects

  • Technically Donkey Kong Jr is Donkey Kong 2, thus why there is a Donkey Kong 3

  • where is 2of 3 and 3 of 3? I want to see the last level

  • Finally got to play this at Funspot 2 weeks ago. The screen shown in this video is not the first screen. The first screen was so difficult, I could not clear it. DK2 is much harder than DK. If you don't believe me, go to Funspot yourself. It's THAT HARD.

  • DK2 is a thing of beauty!

  • I WANT TO PLAY THIS SO BAD.

  • It's a real arcade game. I just saw it at Funspot arcade in New Hampshire. If it's a hack then the cabinet was hacked too because it had all different donkey kong II artwork.

  • Yes, it is a hack. And yes, the cab is hacked too. It was made by a fan of Donkey Kong within the "social circle" of the ones who go to Funspot and hold the world records of many arcade games.

  • I never knew there was a DK2. Ah, well I never made it past the first one anyway, so I would've got beat on this one.

  • I found out this game is new. A guy has a web site where you can buy this mod if you have a DK machine. He made 4 new boards which look pretty hard. Wish I could play it. Maybe MAME will have a dump one day.

  • @unsortedmana Doubt full as this is a hack so Mame wont suppourt it, you can find a modded versions of mame like Misfitmame which plays this game. But I heard the creator of this hack wanted Nintendo to make it legit and had sent them a copy of the roms and info sheet and all that but Nintedy is picky about outside stuff, so most likely it wont ever become legit

  • Sigh...guys this is a hack, I played it at Midwest Gaming Classic in Wisconsin over the weekend. The level shown is actually the 7th board. And alas, this was as far as I got as I couldn't get past that cement mixer.

  • Does anyone know where I can play a FULL version/Clone of donkey kong online? I can only find these pissant games with 1 level.

  • No, there really WAS a DOnkey Kong 2 arcade game. I remember playing it at our annual NC state fair when when I was younger. It was put out in very few arcades & wasn't a popular hit. It quietly faded out & in came DK3--the dumbest DK EVER)

  • it existed never finished so it's an unfinished game or hack

  • Bravo Jeff on all of your hard work disassembling and re-coding the original DK for a whole new game. It looks awexome! I can't wait to play it on my DK machine.

  • If this is just a hack, why do we donkey kong 3? How can there be a 3 if there was never a 2?

  • DK came out in 1981, DK Jr. followed in '82, then DK 3 was released in 83'. That's how you get no DK 2. There was a DK 2 for Nintendo Game & Watch hand-held games though. Just look up the history before posting wild statements and you will be smarter for it.

  • i know about dk jr. But it just like on the avgn chronologicaly confused video. first they subtitle sequels, then they don't.

  • DK Jr was considered DK2. This is a hack version. There are many others. I have a few on M.A.M.E like Crazy Kong. Google MAME

  • Alreadytakenyours: Uh, no. You're confusing the pie level with this level (What you're describing about the pie level is basically true--it was the fourth level in the arcade version (there was no fifth level) and it appeared earlier in the Japanese ROMs and no home versions had this level. This is different though. Go to the website in the description for more info.

  • Awesome! Jeff, are you selling these as MAME roms as well as arcade roms? I personally don't have any spare donkey kong machines lying around.

  • Since the Japanese version is the original (with boards in consistent 1-2-3-4 order), I'd call the pie level the "second level".

You never did get to see the Pie & Factory level in their initial stages of difficulty in the U.S. version though which was kind of funny...

  • The Atari 800XL version (Cartridge) DID have this level. It was level 4.

  • @jvward2006

Firstly, they weren't pies. The level you are referring to is called the cement factory, so it is cement on the conveyor belts, not pies. You can search donkey kong cement factory here on youtube to see the level. Secondly, the TI 99 version has that level. There is a also gameplay video here that shows it.

  • This is not a hack it is the 4th or 5th so called level on the orignal donkey kong. But in Japan and on some bootleg machines in the US it may have been the first level. People called it the pie board level because of the cement pies. I don't think any home versions

had this level except the atari computer and the hidden game in Donkey Kong 64.

  • No, this is totally NOT the cement factory level. It bears some similarity to it, but this is a whole different animal. Come to think of it, it actually looks BETTER than the original cement factory!

  • I agree, this is not the original pie level. this is smore surely a hack.

  • sweet

  • That hack is all kinds of awesome.

  • Was this ever released?

  • sweet
