My first experience at seeing "Sojourner", helped me to comprehend, and become inspired to undertake my own reenactment character of "The Life & Times of Omar ibn Sayyid".
Zuhairah is a "Master" of re-living "living history". I have seen "Sojourner Truth" at different venues, twice over a 3 year period. Zuhairah's embodiment of Sojourner Truth is an amazing phenomenon reminiscent of literally "climbing into the skin" of the character, and embodying all aspects of their personality. She has "raised the bar of excellence" in historical reenactments.

I just read a written account of her famous "Ain't I A Woman" extemporaneous speech. Her passion and how she spoke the truth affected me so much I could "hear" in my mind how she must've sounded. I felt a strong urge to read her words aloud. When I did, I found my accent suddenly changing naturally, veering towards the old African-American intonation -- even if I'm a "bred and born" Southeast Asian!

Thank you, Zuhairah McGill.
