uhm how can i explain this clairly... she sings just a little bit slower than the rhythm like she's singing in slow motion, she starts every sentence 1 sc after the music on which it should be. but it's only on the 2 first verses. compare with another live performance, for example the live at Bet awards i think you'l see what i mean

it's done on purpose... Artists who know their music and rhythm know how to add a little lag in a performance... it's more accentuated in blues songs where the lag can be as long as 3 -5 seconds. Alicia keys, stevie wonder, jill scott have done it.. to name a few... it's very common with talented artists... it's like playing jazz or blues on a piano...

It can't be taught... you gotta have rhythm and a feel for blues.... that's the essence of RnB.
